Ellis, Sr., Ned Thomas, 82, a resident of Ft. Deposit, AL died on Monday, July 7, 2014. Private graveside services will be held for the family. The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. On Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church in Ft. Deposit, AL. Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Chiangus Heifer Futurity Planned Attention Chiangus breeders: Plans are underway for the ACA to host a Chiangus Heifer Futurity in the summer of 2015. The females will be nominated by the breeders and cash prizes will be paid out at the show. Please look for in depth details in the October/ November issue of the ACJ as well as on the ACA website.

Let the Good Times Roll! Tyler Humphrey, Director of Marketing and Performance Programs
No matter what segment of the cattle industry you’re in, things are good! Both commercial and purebred cattle are seeing unprecedented prices with no end in the immediate future. These great monetary rewards have given producers incentive to rebuild their cow herds and take their programs to the next level. As they say, “you’ve got to make hay while the sun is shining”. We just finished up with one of, if not the biggest event that the ACA takes part in every year, the National Junior Heifer Show. If you could not make it to the show this year do not worry, we have a full section of complete results and pictures in this issue! The cattle exhibited this year were impressive both in the Chiangus and Chimaine shows alike. The cattle that walked in the ring were a true testament to the functionality and maternal ability that our great breed possesses.
Now that the NJHS has come to an end, we turn our focus to the state fair season. I will be at many of the state fairs across the country so if you would like me to stop by and view your calves please give me a call. We are looking for outstanding Chi cattle to feature in our National Sale held every November in Louisville. All of the entry information for this upcoming sale can be found in this issue or on the Chi website. I look forward to visiting with many of you as I travel the state fair circuit and on into the fall sale season. I expect the prices to stay high and many records to be broken this sale season! The cross between a Chianina with any of the British breeds emphasizes hybrid vigor, exceptional growth rates and even makes calving easier due to the Chianina having a slender shaped head.

Hitting the Ground Running Doran Junek, Director of Research & Membership Relations
I would like to start my first article with a thank you to the American Chianina Association for the opportunity to work for you. The first 100 days on the job have been fast and furious. I think it is important to hit the ground running and I have enjoyed meeting Chianina breeders from North Dakota to Alabama. The quality of the cattle I have been able to see has been great and the hospitality of members has been very much appreciated. Helping with the 2014 Chianina Junior National has definitely been one of the highlights of my summer. I know there are quality youth all across this great country of ours, but I am here to tell you that the hard work and dedication of the Chianina Junior Board is second to none. I believe Kyle Dice is a huge asset to your organization and did an amazing job running the entire event. I want to give a personal shout out to Sarah Vickland for all she did serving as our intern for the entire week. Between the early mornings setting up to the late nights compiling and entering results, Sarah did anything asked and made sure it was done right. Louisville was an exciting time and I am here to tell you that the ACA staff has more to come. We have had several staff meetings looking at how we can run as efficient as possible and yet offer new and exciting opportunities to ACA membership. The demand for quality seedstock genetics is increasing all the time and interest in Chianina and Chiangus genetics are growing right along with the rest. The interest in Chiangus bulls by commercial cattlemen is real and tangible. Early this fall, the ACA and a newly formed cooperative will be making an announcement about a great opportunity to market Chianina genetics and capture much needed data for our performance programs. At the direction of the ACA Board of Directors, I am concentrating a portion of my time to help ACA members in increasing market share of Chianina genetics with commercial PAGE 8 | CHIANINA JOURNAL | AUGUST 2014
producers. I have spoken with feedyard managers already that rave about the efficiency and yield of Chi-based genetics. We need to do a better job of promoting these awesome attributes. Another encouraging bit of news is the interest shown by new parties interested in joining the breed. The staff and I have come up with some program options to promote Chianina genetics. We are hammering out the details of these great opportunities and you can look for more announcements coming this fall. I would like to take a moment to encourage all ACA membership to please take the time to properly complete and turn in performance data when possible. Birth weights, weaning weights and yearling weights are critically important in helping improve the accuracy of our EPD’s database. Many of the breeds we are competing against for the commercial bull dollars have much more extensive databases than ours. So whenever, possible please gather and turn in your numbers when possible. In closing, it has been a great first 100 days and I am really looking forward to meeting as many of you this fall as possible. Kyle, Tyler and myself have coordinated our travel plans to attend as many state fairs, state field days and Chi-related events along with making herd visits along the way. If you haven’t had someone by your place for some time, please give me a call at the office and I will make sure one of us makes every effort to stop and make a visit. “Every accomplishment starts with a decision to try” Your ACA staff is in the process of charting a course for success for this great breed of cattle. Together with a little enthusiasm and “try”, we can do great things with this great breed of cattle.

Greetings From Nebraska Don Esch, At-Large Director
My area in Nebraska has been very blessed with great weather so far this year, but not all of Nebraska has faired as well. Tornados and adverse weather have been tough on many people in our home state and we keep them in our thoughts and prayers. On a better note: cattle prices have been hitting new highs from feeders to the feedlots. It’s an exciting time in the cattle industry. Cost of gains have been extremely competitive for the feed yards and it’s refreshing to see the grid paying the premiums they are for Choice and Prime carcasses. Feeder prices on the video markets are higher every week for load lots. While we don’t know where the top of the market is, we all know that good genetics play a big part in achieving top of the market pricing whenever we decide to sell. While we all have different ideas what a great one is, we look to the market that is key to us to tell us what the industry idea is. Chianina genetics play a big role
on topping the market, whether it is for the feed yard, heifer retention, or the show ring. What a diverse breed we have. ACA was one of the first breed associations to allow breeders to register cattle based on the type and percentage of cattle that they want to market. Only fitting that this breed is very competitive in all aspects of the cattle industry. One aspect of our association that needs help from all its members is turning in more data to shore up the EPD’s on our bulls. Commercial cattlemen have come to appreciate the value of our Chianina cattle, but numbers are part of the buying process. If we could get higher accuracies on our cattle, the better chance we have of topping the markets that we are striving for. Chianina cattle top a lot of sales, but it is just one more tool to help us keep doing it. If you have any questions on how to do this, call the ACA or any of us on the board. We all love to talk cattle.

Procedure for Electing Members to the ACA Board of Directors Each year the active adult membership of the ACA will elect four directors based on the updated region alignment. The ACA regions are as follows: Northwest (states of Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, and Wyoming) Southwest (states of Arizona, California, Kansas, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah) Northeast (states of Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wisconsin) Southeast (states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia)
The nomination and election procedure is outlined below: 1.) A nominating petition, which appears in the August ACJ, must be completed and returned to the Association office by September 13, 2014. 2.) Ballots with the names of the nominees will be mailed to the ACA membership on October 1, 2014. 3.) The ballots must be returned to the ACA. All ballots must be postmarked BEFORE October 24, 2014. 4.) The candidate receiving the most votes from each region, or for the at-large positions, will be declared the winner. 5.) Each active ACA member may cast one vote for each at-large director position open each year and one vote for the regional director of his or her particular region when being elected. Board of Director positions up for election this year, 2014, are the Northwest Region, Southeast Region and two (2) at-
large positions. All directors will be elected for a three-year term. No more than four (4) persons from the same region shall serve on the Board of Directors at any one time. If you live in the Northeast or Southwest Regions and wish to nominate an active ACA member within that region, please complete the form below. Another Year of Success for Ladies Auxiliary by Jessica Cheesman, President
Ride for the Brand was another successful junior nationals. Congratulations to all the winners…the Chianina Breed was represented well. I hope everyone had a safe trip home from Louisville. Juniors, please remember to thank everyone who helped you get to Louisville. It is great friends and family who make it all possible. Congratulations to our new Queen, Carson Goff from Illinois and our first ever Princess Taylor Pinkerton from Indiana. I am sure they will both represent our breed very well. Now that Junior Nationals are over, local county fairs and state fairs begin. Before we know it, Louisville will be here. I hope all of the Ladies are planning on attending the “Come As You Are” luncheon. This will be our annual meeting and membership drive, along with elections. We need new and fresh ideas, so if you know of anyone, please invite them to our luncheon. You won’t want to miss out on the OH SO FAMOUS “Kentucky Silk Pie” We won’t be long, so please plan to attend for a fun time had by all!!!. **Please be watching for updates. Since the schedule has changed, we will only be in Louisville for a few days. We will need to see what day works best. Each year at Louisville the Ladies Auxiliary selects an outstanding Lady who has been active in the Chi breed, works with youth and is active in her community. We know that not everyone travels to the National Show in Louisville in November, so we would like to have nominations for ladies that work hard in their communities, that you feel deserve this award of Chi Lady of the Year. All you have to do is submit a letter telling why this Lady should deserve this award. Tell about her and her accomplishments. The winner will be selected at the Ladies Luncheon during Louisville. Again, the Lady does not have to be present at Louisville to win this award.

AJCA Brings Valuable Experiences by SyAnn Foster, AJCA President
Now that the 2014 National Junior Chianina Heifer Show is in the books, what does everyone’s summer activities entail? Some may be getting ready for their county or state fairs, while others have kicked the big heifers out and already have the barn full of new babies to break. Whatever it is we do after Junior Nationals, we can all agree on one thing. We love to show cattle and we love this industry we are all a part of! I know I wouldn’t be the same person I am today if my summer activities didn’t include those weeklong vacations with my Chi family. I have had the privilege of serving on the AJCA Junior Board of Directors for the past three years now and this upcoming year I will serve as the President. As I look back on this, I have realized I just accomplished one of my lifelong goals. Being a junior board member has taught me many things. I have gained friendships, connected with some of the top Chi breeders in the industry, and above all else, help make knowledgeable decisions to impact the junior members of the Chi breed to grow and prosper. If being a junior board member is one of your goals, do not

shy away from it. Be outgoing, go the extra mile to meet new people, and always show kindness. If there is one thing that I have learned, being nice and friendly goes a long ways. I know that being a Junior Board Member is not for everyone but as you reflect on Junior Nationals, maybe you will obtain some mind-setting goals. Make up your mind to study a little harder for the stockman’s contest or say that speech to your parents one more time. I encourage you to go out and listen to your dad or mom try to sell cattle in a real world aspect and remember practices makes perfect. Keep in mind professionals, in all aspect of life, had to start somewhere so don’t be afraid to start something new. On behalf of the Junior Board I would like to say a sincere thank you to everyone involved with making the 2014 Junior Nationals a success. Without the help of the Maine Anjou and Shorthorn breeds we could not of pulled off this extravagant event. With that, I am looking forward for the fall and seeing everyone at the N.A.I.L.E.

Every Mile is a Memory by Jessica Harsh, Retiring ACA National Queen
When taking a taking a look in the “rearview mirror” of this past year, one phrase sticks out to me that sums it all up pretty well from my view. “Every mile is a memory”. And, some pretty amazing miles and memories at that. Traveling over 9,000 miles, serving as your 2013-14 ACA National Queen has allowed me to hone in on what my passion is; Kids and Livestock. In my opinion, you cannot go wrong with that combination right there. Taking on the reign of Queen allowed me to get a new, insiders perspective of working with the juniors and their livestock as opposed to being just being a junior exhibitor myself. This year has been one for the record books when it comes the number of firsts we, as breed, accomplished for the 2013-2014 year. I am so honored to have been a part of it. We had our first national show in Denver, Colorado at the National Western Stock Show and also we are fortunate enough welcome to the family our first ACA National Princess, Miss Taylor Pinkerton of Indiana. She will do a great job helping our 2014-15 ACA National Queen, Miss Carson Goff of Illinois. I could not think of a more exciting and bright time for the breed than right now and the future to come. I was able to attend all of the national shows, both Junior Nationals during my term, Louisville, Denver, and Fort Worth. Also, I attended the Ohio, Illinois and Iowa State Fair Junior and Open Chianina Shows as well as numerous Beef Expos throughout he winter, Adding PAGE 22 | CHIANINA JOURNAL | AUGUST 2014
to my personal lists of firsts, I can now cross off of my bucket list “Attend the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo” and “Experience the Iowa State Fair”. Congratulations to all of the exhibitors and champions. Most of all what I can take away from my reign as Queen are the connections and relationships I gained during that relatively short period of time. It hit me hard how grateful I am to be apart of such an amazing organization, from the juniors to the senior members. My time with the Junior Chi’s has not come to a close yet, which I am very thankful for. This year, I get to serve my final year on the Junior Board. At the end of the day, there’s something that honestly cannot say enough times to enough people; THANK YOU! Everyone in the entire association has been great to work with and a huge thank you goes to Tyler Humphrey, Kyle Dice and the Junior Board for being the backbone to the Junior Chi Association this past year. A special thank you goes to my family. They are the ones that have supported me in following my passion in this crazy yet absolutely awesome industry and life style we like to call the “stock show life”. Genetic Evaluation Set To Use Data From Calves Weighed At Younger And Older Ages By Bob Weaber, Ph.D., PAS Cow-calf Extension Specialist /Associate Professor, Kansas State University
Persistent drought conditions across a wide area of the US have wreaked havoc on the production goals of many seedstock and commercial beef producers over the last several years. Not only does drought prevent adequate pasture growth and hay production, it affects the management and performance of cow-herds. Performance decreases range from lower fertility and conception rates, decreased milk production from cows, decreased calf survival and growth performance to weaning. Recent research also suggests the severely restricted intake and protein in the diet of cows while gestating, reduces muscularity and marbling in the calves which experienced the uterine environment. Drought not only affects this year’s production but will have an impact for several years to come on both livestock and range. Early weaning is one strategy commonly used by commercial producers to help ease the pain of drought conditions. Early weaning (at calf ages as early as 100 days) causes the dam to stop lactating. Cessation of lactation dramatically decreases the cow’s nutrient demand for both production and maintenance. In drought conditions this can extend already limited grazing resources. Removal of calves in these situations can help the calves too by moving them to a higher quality diet. Young calves are very feed efficient and make better use of supplemental feed consumed directly rather than running through the calf ’s dam first. Early weaning can be a great management tool for seedstock producers, too, but historically has been avoided because of its impact on weaning performance PAGE 24 | CHIANINA JOURNAL | AUGUST 2014
records. Historically, the acceptable age of calf windows for weaning weight were 160-250 days of age. Yearling weights were limited to collection when calves were between 320 and 410 days of age. Previously, if a seedstock producer weaned a large number of calves at ages less than 160 days those records were edited out of the genetic evaluation system and were not used to compute EPDs. The elimination of large pieces of data was a large deterrent to early weaning. The rationale for the relatively narrow windows was established many, many years ago by the Beef Improvement Federation and was chosen due to the ability to use simple linear adjustment procedures to correct for age differences in animals across a contemporary group. Submission of large numbers of performance records from early weaned calves has provided support for the expansion of the age windows for weaning and yearling weight. Seedstock producers may now submit data for use in the genetic evaluation system for Chianina and Chiinfluenced cattle (conducted by the American Simmental Association) for weaning weight for calves ranging from 100 to 310 days and yearling weights from 270 to 500 days of age. To help constrain potential biases in adjustments, birth age groups are limited 90 days which subsequently limits the age range in weaning and yearling groups of the same animals to not more than 90 days. These modifications to the genetic evaluation system provide producers with additional management flexibility while providing solid data for computation of EPDs.

of raising and selling show cattle. There is also flexibility when choosing sires which makes the show ring extremely competitive. Who is your mentor and why? My brothers, they’ve taught me everything I know about cattle and they are the first people I go to for advice outside of the ring as well. I couldn’t thank them enough for all they’ve done for me. Advice to new junior starting in the Chi breed? Consistency is key. With rinsing, brushing, feeding, showing, fitting, and pretty much anything you do with your animal, be consistent with it and you will see results. It may take a few years, with a few glitches in the system but be patient, it will come. One weird habit/fact about you? I didn’t have the opportunity to experience Chi Jr nationals until 2012, my last year my last year in 4-H. Would we find you on the wash rack or on the blower? Blower, only because no one else in my crew likes to sit there for an hour blowing on one.

This allows me to have many different fields of opportunity in the ag industry. I would also like to judge some major shows. What quality or skill do you have that you are proud of? The ability to speak publicly or to large groups of people.
Most embarrassing show moment? When I was 9 one of my first Jr Nationals my heifer stepped on the back of my boot and it came off, I kept on walking until someone brought it to me. Favorite show animal & why? Bella- 5-Time Champion Title at the NWSS Who is your mentor and why? My parents. They have guided me down this great path and have given me the opportunity to do what I love(showing cattle) . This is something we do as a family and has taught me many life lessons along the way. National Junior Show The 2014 National Junior Heifer Show was one for the books! With new contests and even a new breed thrown into the mix we were able to attract many new exhibitors from all over the nation. This year was one of the largest Junior National Heifer Shows we have had. Over 300 head of Chianina cattle were entered with over 200 exhibitors coming from 22 different states. The Chianina, Shorthorn and Maine-Anjou breeds came together to offer the juniors a rare opportunity to have three junior nationals in one location at the exact same time. It was a great opportunity for our juniors to interact and gain knowledge from some of the leaders in the cattle industry. Throughout the week the juniors participated in many different educational contests, learning seminars, junior benefit auctions and, of course, showing cattle. We thank ALL of our sponsors for helping us make this possible.
2014 Herdsman of the Year: Megan Hunt Age: 21 State: Ohio Parents: Tom & Deanna Hunt Future Plans: Finish up my degree and acquire a job within the agriculture industry. Which national show is your favorite? I truly enjoy traveling across the country to all of the national shows so for me to pick just one is very difficult. If I had to choose one then it would be the National Western Stock Show in Denver. I love being able to wake up to a view of the mountains every morning and it is a very enjoyable show to attend, rather as an exhibitor or as a spectator. What aspect of being named Herdsman of the Year means most to you? It is hard to explain what an honor it is being named Herdsman of the Year. It is something many juniors dream of and only few will be able to obtain in their time exhibiting at Junior Nationals. To join the list of extremely talented and well-respected individuals that have won it over the years is what means the most to me.
What advice would you give younger members just getting started in the AJCA? For any and all juniors wanting to get involved or already involved is to take every opportunity given to you. If you want to run for the Junior Board, then make sure you do, or even a royalty position such as princess or queen because the time each of you have as a junior exhibitor is limited, so make the most of it. Also, even though many of you dread doing all of the contests, do them! The contests help you more in the future than you will ever understand from salesmanship to speech you learn to communicate with others and to talk in front of strangers, both of those qualities are something many of you will need in the future. Most of all make friends! This industry is not just a hobby; it is a family and a way of life. I can speak from experience that the individuals you meet in this industry are not only remarkable people but they become lifelong friends, you never know when you might just meet your next best friend during an opening ceremonies. ACA Board of Directors Meeting Minutes Platte City, MO • April 11-12, 2014 • Matt Michel, Secretary, ACA Board of Directors
The ACA Board of Directors met on Friday, April 11, 2014 at the ACA office in Platte City, MO. ACA board members present included Culp, Esch, Higgins, Michel, Miller, Rose, Schaefer, Shields, Stoppel, Schrick, and Staff members Boddicker, Dice, and Humphrey. (Holt, Winegardner were absent.) Chairman Miller called the meeting to order at 9:15 am. New Board introductions were made.
Officer’s Reports: Secretary’s Report:
Report distributed of NAILE meeting. Higgins moved to accept the minutes, seconded by Stoppel, Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report: Esch presented the Treasurer’s report. General discussion about the financial situation of ACA. Boddicker gave some brief insight on registrations and trends, said he would discuss in detail in his presentation. Culp moved to accept the treasurer’s report, seconded by Schrick. Motion carried.
ACA Business Review: John Boddicker presented the group with a detailed power point of the dynamics of the association. Much information was provided about specific segments of the ACA, specifically registration trends and PAGE 46 | CHIANINA JOURNAL | AUGUST 2014
the Journal. The biggest concern and focal point being the drastic decline in Chiangus registrations and ways to grow the segment back to its potential.
Committee Reports:
ACA Foundation Report: John Higgins gave the foundation report with a current balance of $42,000. The foundation will hold a fundraising auction at the National Junior Heifer show with the proceeds going 100% to future National Junior Heifer shows. Time and location of auction will be decided by Foundation board, Dice and Boddicker.
Long Range: Steve Melroe reported that they would have a meeting in the fall. Ed Miller suggested that they talk to the Chiangus Council about possibly have the meeting together.
Recognition Committee: Keith Schrick reported they will continue recognizing 40 year members at the NAILE ACA auction.
Performance & Genetic Abnormality: Ed Miller reported American Simmental Assn. may be able to update epd’s weekly. Encourage breeders to complete the 50K dna marking on bulls, possibly the ACA starting a program of getting bulls tested. Encourage breeders
to use 50K in their herds through education and the journal. Genetic defect requirement will revisit at June meeting. The committee along with the staff will prepare a letter and process information and send to the breeder of top 50 Chiangus bulls encouraging breeders to do the 50K test. Culp encouraged implementation of trait leader status report in the herd reference issue.
Building/Grounds: Don Esch and John Boddicker both discussed some structural issues with the ACA office. A tour of the entire office was given. Board agreed to have the staff clean the basement discarding old unecessary office equipment and various items. Once building is cleaned up, John will pursue possible rental agreements to help generate revenue for the ACA.
Promotions, Benefits & Marketing: Ken Culp gave an update of his committee activities. Added discussion on ear marking money for promotions benefits cost share program. This policy was adopted at past board meeting. Culp’s committee wants to ensure the money is available for qualified programs.
Junior & Youth Programs: Kyle Dice reported the rule changes at Denver meeting. Raffle tickets are being sold as a National Jr Show
ACA UPDATES Fundraiser. Winner can choose a Chiangus or Chimaine bred heifer. YBIC was a good event for juniors. Kyle was asked to be on the committee for YBIC. It will be in Kansas City in 2 years. The juniors are currently on track for budget for NJHS. The Juniors have added a couple of new contests and adjusted rules to allow simplification of joint contests with the Maine Anjou Assn. Scott Bush from Britton, SD is confirmed judge. Schaefer made a Motion that we open a checking account for the juniors, seconded by Rose. Motion carried. Val Shields made motion to have 2015 NJHS in conjunction with Maine Anjou Assn in Springfield, Illinois, Michel seconded. Motion carried. John Higgins made a motion to accept Fort Worth Stock Show plan to have a low percent Chianina show, Schrick seconded. Motion carried Tyler Humphrey gave a report on the journal. He stated ad sales have been decreasing. He is currently looking at ways to increase ad sales. Much discussion on journal was had. John and Tyler will come up with some new ideas to increase journal ads and mailing list and report at June meeting. ACA Web page Design-John will work on specific duties and delegate accordingly. Fullblood promotion discussion on increased demand for Fullblood cattle. The board would like to work with breeders to create such a plan.
Show & Sale Committee: Tyler gave 2013-14 sale reports. NAILE format will be similar to past.
Stalling for displaying sale cattle will be fixed. Denver will be back in the yards. Ohio Beef Expo sale is coming up and looks to be a very good offering. Kyle discussed rule changes for Denver book. We will add divisions for junior show on the hill along with awards. Stoppel moved the board enter executive session, seconded by Schaefer. Motion carried. Schaefer moved to adjourn executive session, seconded by Stoppel. Motion carried. Meeting resumed at 4:55 pm. Schaefer moved to adjourn the meeting at 4:55, seconded by Stoppel. Motion carried. Meeting was adjourned at 4:56p.m. The Board meeting was reconvened on Saturday April 12, 2014 at 8:25am.
40 bulls. Jerry Ellis presented the board concerns on behalf of the Chiangus Council. Chiangus Council is concerned about promotion and value the ACA is providing to Chiangus Breeders. The board agrees they will try to do more with help from the Chiangus Council. Brian Schaefer suggested that we offer a Fullblood show at Fort Worth. The recommendation was made to discuss with Southwest region and see if they are willing to have the show. The ACA board supports the Southwest region’s decision regarding a Full blood show. Schaefer made a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Culp. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 11:42.
New Business: John Boddicker presented proposed budget/ financial report. Budget was discussed and accepted. Schrick moved to accept the proposed budget, seconded by Esch. Motion carried. Rose moved that the ACA set up an employee retirement match program following the recommendations of John Boddicker’s proposed plan, seconded by Culp. Motion carried. Schaefer moved the board enter executive session, seconded by Shields. Motion carried. Michel moved to adjourn executive session, seconded by Shields.
