Welcome to the 4th Annual Snake River Bull Test Sale!
Our Test keeps growing and growing because cattlemen want a test in the area, a place where they can purchase great genetics from around the West. I am very humbled at the trust each of our consignors and buyers put into this test. We are much more than a Growth test, it is important that you all know you can pick from the finest #Growth, #Maternal, and #Carcass genetics offered in the Magic Valley. Much Thanks to each of you for your interest in this year’s sale offering! Breeders from the Snake River Bull Association have brought their finest bulls to this year’s test; you can tell they have devoted their lives to breeding the finest animals. This year we had 209 incredible bulls on test, consignors have continued to improve the genetics they breed and bring to the test for the benefit of your cattle ranch.
The 120 bulls that are being offered in this year’s sale will prove to be very profitable genetic investments for your operation. Breeds being offered in the sale this year are Black Angus, Hereford, Simmental, SimAngus, Red Angus, Charolais, and Maine-Anjou. These bulls have been tested on a high roughage ration for an average daily gain of 3.3lbs. Genetics have proven to be very efficient because the bulls are sons of today’s breed leading A.I. sires. I want to thank all those who have helped with the bull test this year – especially my good friend Casey Ridley of Hat 14 Cattle Co. for investing in a new feedlot and taking the time to feed and care for these bulls; he has done a tremendous job! I’m extremely grateful to be part of the cattle industry. • Terms of the sale are cash or bankable check on Sale Day. • When making settlement, please leave specific instructions in writing for transfer and shipping. • We will not be responsible for any loss or injury after animals are sold. • Each animal will be offered to the highest bidder. • Each animal sold becomes the property of the buyer as soon as it is sold. • The auctioneer will settle any disputes as to bids by declaring all bids off and reselling the animal in question. • All animals have tested negative for PI BVD and are cleared with health papers to go anywhere in the United States. • All bulls are semen tested, with the exception of a few April bulls which will sell with a breeding guarantee. • All announcements, made from the auction block on sale day by the owner or the auctioneer, will take precedence over statements printed in this catalog. • All sight unseen purchases are fully guaranteed. • Sale order – determined by the Snake River Bull Test Index (1/3 growth ratio, 1/3 carcass ratio, 1/3 maternal ratio) and estimated sale value. We do expect small changes in sale order. Sale orders will be posted online prior to sale and available sale day. Sale day orders trump. • All sales are being conducted under the American Angus Association Suggested Sale Terms and Conditions (6/7/12) regardless of breed of sale bull. •W e guarantee all bulls as breeders for the first breeding season immediately following the sale. Breeding season is defined as the first 60-day period following first turnout of bulls. If a problem occurs please contact Snake River Bull Test IMMEDIATELY. We will provide you with all necessary information to contact the consignor. •A ll claims for adjustment or refund must be made within three months of sale date. This is not a life insurance policy. • S nake River Bull Test wants to ensure that all of our customers are repeat customers; therefore, we are always available to help facilitate arrangements between parties as needed. •W e would suggest that quality care is maintained on all bulls and yearling bulls not be allowed to get too thin. We will provide ongoing customer service and focus on buyer satisfaction. This credit or replacement guarantee pertains strictly to reproductive use of the bull, not the physical loss of the bull. • Livestock will be cared for following the sale at the buyer’s risk and responsibility. •C ertificate of Registry – A transferred certificate of registry will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after settlement has been made. •F ree delivery on bull purchases totaling $4500 to central locations such as stockyards in Idaho and adjoining states within 300 miles. Delivery outside the adjoining state region will be delivered at cost. We will be in touch prior to delivering the cattle, usually the day before. •E veryone attending the sale does so at their own risk. How does the Snake River Bull Test select the best bulls? The Snake River Bull Test is designed to select bulls that excel in the three profit-driven traits: 1. Growth, 2. Maternal, 3. Carcass. Bull have been indexed in each category. Bulls with an index greater than 100 preformed better than average, while bulls with an index less than 100 performed below average in that area. The “SRBT Index” combines the three indexes to allow selection of bulls that excel in all three areas - “The Balanced Bulls.” If you are looking for a bull that excels in one area you can use either the growth, maternal, or carcass indexes to help in your selection. The diagram below illustrates how the SRBT Index is calculated.
