“Vele d'Epoca”, the Classic Yachts and green horizons

Tra Vele d’Epoca e orizzonti green

Imperia confirms its status as the queen of Ligurian tourism by celebrating a historic milestone: the 40th edition of the Vele d’Epoca (Vintage Sails). The "Ladies of the Sea" return to Borgo Marina. From August 29 to September 1, Imperia will host the finals of the 12-Metre Class International Rule World Championship, while from September 2 to 5, the "Vele D'Epoca"—better known as the "Ladies of the Sea"—will set sail, symbolizing a maritime tradition that today embraces a vision of sustainable tourism. The heart of the city beats along the 9 km of coastal cycling path overlooking the sea, the “Riviera dei Fiori Cycling Path”. In midJune, the picture will be completed with the inauguration of the final section (the formerly unfinished "IM-compiuta"), making the coastline entirely accessible from Imperia all the way to Diano Marina. This change of pace has been driven by the administration of Mayor Claudio Scajola, which unlocked the redevelopment of the Tourist Port, now ready to relaunch after years of standstill.

It is not just about sports, but also a constantly growing network of museums: from the dreamlike atmosphere of the Clown Museum at Villa Grock to the contemporary rigor of the MACI at Villa Faravelli, Imperia proves that culture is the true engine of its rebirth. A destination where history, art, and nature are finally sailing with the same wind.

Imperia si conferma regina del turismo ligure celebrando un traguardo storico: la 40ª edizione delle Vele d’Epoca. Le "Signore del Mare" tornano a Borgo Marina. Dal 29 agosto al primo settembre Imperia ospiterà la finale del Campionato Mondiale della classe 12 metri Stazza Internazionale, mentre dal 2 al 5 settembre prenderanno il largo le “Vele D'Epoca, meglio conosciute come le “signore del mare” simbolo di una tradizione marinara che sposa oggi una visione di turismo sostenibile.

Il cuore della città pulsa lungo i 9 km di pista ciclabile a picco sul mare la “Ciclovia Riviera dei Fiori”. A metà giugno il quadro si completerà con l’inaugurazione del tratto dell’IM-compiuta, rendendo il litorale interamente percorribile da Imperia fino a Diano Marina. Un cambio di passo guidato dall'amministrazione del Sindaco Claudio Scajola, che ha sbloccato la riqualificazione del Porto Turistico, pronto a ripartire dopo anni di stop.

Non solo sport, ma una rete museale in costante ascesa: dalle atmosfere oniriche del Museo del Clown di Villa Grock al rigore contemporaneo del MACI a Villa Faravelli, Imperia dimostra che la cultura è il vero motore della propria rinascita. Una destinazione dove storia, arte e natura navigano finalmente con lo stesso vento.

C’è una Liguria che tutti conoscono e amano: quella del mare, delle spiagge, delle giornate luminose e dei tramonti che colorano la costa durante l’estate. Una lunga storia d' amore con Genova

His ashes were scattered in the sea of Boccadasse, where, in the attic of an old fishermen’s building in that magical corner of the city, he wrote La gatta, one of his greatest hits.

With Gino Paoli, the last representative of the Genoese school of singer-songwriters has passed away.

“Wondering why Genoa is the historic epicenter of Italian songwriting and an unparalleled forge of talent is a bit like asking why the Beatles were born in Liverpool and rock’n’roll in the United States”, wrote Elio Giuliani in La Repubblica.

Le sue ceneri sono state disperse nel mare di Boccadasse dove, in una soffitta di un vecchio palazzo di pescatori in quell’angolo magico della città, scrisse “La Gatta”, uno dei suoi più grandi successi. Con Gino Paoli se n’è andato l’ultimo rappresentante della scuola genovese dei cantautori. «Chiedersi perché Genova sia l'epicentro storico della musica d'autore italiana e fucina ineguagliabile di talenti, è un po' come domandarsi perché i Beatles sono nati proprio a Liverpool e il rock'n'roll negli Stati Uniti», ha scritto Elio Giuliani su “Repubblica”.

His identity card listed his birthplace as Monfalcone because, as was common in those years, his mother returned to give birth in her hometown. But Gino Paoli, son of Aldo – an engineer originally from Campiglia Marittima who worked in shipyards and eventually settled permanently in Pegli after passing through Monfalcone – can be considered Genoese in every respect, so much so that in 1975 he recorded the album Ciao, salutime un po’ Zena And with Genoa he had a lovehate relationship.

“Genoa is wonderful because I know it”, he once said in an interview with Telenord. “Unlike Rome, you can’t understand it in ten minutes. Genoa is hidden everywhere. It is a jealous, visceral, closed city. To understand it you have to discover it. And without a Virgil to guide you, it’s difficult. Everything you are looking for is hidden. And then suddenly it opens up: here is a magnificent palace. It’s strange because you have to seek out beauty. It’s like a woman who dresses poorly and covers everything. You have to start undressing her. Then maybe you begin to understand something about Genoa. Its wonder must be discovered. It is not within everyone’s reach. Genoa is a city I love to death and hate to death.

La carta d’identità riportava “nato a Monfalcone” perché, come usava in quegli anni, la madre volle tornare a partorire nella sua casa di origine, ma Gino Paoli, figlio di Aldo, ingegnere originario di Campiglia Marittima che lavorava nei cantieri navali e che si era stabilito definitivamente a Pegli dopo essere per l’appunto passato per Monfalcone, può essere considerato genovese a tutti gli effetti, al punto che nel 1975 incise l’album “Ciao, salutime un po’ Zena”. E con Genova aveva un rapporto di amore e odio.

«Genova è meravigliosa perché la conosco – aveva confidato in un’intervista a Telenord - Non è che tu puoi, come per Roma, in dieci minuti capire com'è fatta. Genova è tutta nascosta. È una città gelosa, intestinale, chiusa. Per capirla bisogna scoprirla. E senza un Virgilio che ti porti in giro è difficile. Perché tutto quello che cerchi è nascosto. E poi improvvisamente si apre: ecco un palazzo meraviglioso. È strano perché devi cercare la bellezza. È come una donna che si veste male e che si copre tutto. Devi cominciare a spogliarla. Allora forse capisci qualcosa di Genova. Il meraviglioso di Genova deve essere scoperto. Non è a portata di tutti. Genova è una città che amo da morire e odio da

You can love and hate it in equal measure. It is a city clinging to the mountains, a city going downhill or uphill depending on which side you look at it from”.

Nanni Ricordi launched, not without difficulty, the first 33 rpm records of Gino Paoli and Luigi Tenco. It was a different way of telling love stories, everyday life, and daily problems, which marked a deep break from traditional Italian music. “Back then”, Paoli explained, “songs were written in a poetic way, but we broke away from that cliché. We used the words people used on the street. We were street kids”.

They used to meet in a small café-milk bar in the Foce district, at the corner of Via Cecchi and Via Casaregis. Four friends at a bar, like in one of his famous songs. Actually they were eight: Umberto Bindi, Bruno Lauzi, Luigi Tenco, Fabrizio De André, the brothers Gian Franco and Gian Piero Reverberi, and Gino Paoli himself. “We were a group of rebels, let’s say even anarchists”. With Tenco he had a very strong bond, not only because they had started together in a group called “I Diavoli del Rock”. “Luigi was the wildest of all. Sometimes he would see someone well dressed in the street and say: ‘What a nice tie you have…’ and snip – he would cut it off. One evening we saw an American film where a journalist had convinced a man not to jump from a skyscraper, and we

Utilizzavamo le parole che si usavano per la strada. Noi eravamo ragazzi di strada». Si incontravano in un piccolo bar latteria della Foce, all’angolo tra via Cecchi e via Casaregis. Quattro amici al bar, come in uno dei suoi grandi successi. In realtà erano otto: Umberto Bindi, Bruno Lauzi, Luigi Tenco, Fabrizio De Andrè, i fratelli Gian Franco e Gian Piero Reverberi e per l’appunto Gino Paoli. Eravamo un gruppo di ribelli, diciamo pure degli anarchici».

Con Tenco aveva un legame fortissimo e non solo perché avevano iniziato insieme in un gruppo chiamato "I Diavoli del Rock". «Luigi era il più scatenato di tutti. Capitava che per strada vedesse uno tutto elegante: ‘Che bella cravatta che hai…”. E zac gliela tagliava. Una sera abbiamo visto un film americano dove un giornalista aveva fatto cambiare idea ad uno che si voleva buttare

Success came unexpectedly in 1960 with La gatta, initially unnoticed, like the other 45 rpm records he had previously released (La tua mano, Non occupatemi il telefono, Senza parole, Sassi). In the first three months it sold barely a hundred copies, then suddenly it took off. Paoli was not yet registered with SIAE, and Mogol acted as a front man for him, later convincing Mina to sing Il cielo in una stanza after it had been rejected by Jula de Palma and Miranda Martino. “The comments were harsh; they told me it wasn’t a song and many suggested that I change my profession”, Paoli recalled.

It was his definitive breakthrough; the song stayed in the charts for six months. That room with the violet ceiling and no walls, but trees – endless trees – was in Vico Castagna, a few steps from Porta Soprana. At number 4 there was a particular brothel, frequented mainly by students from the nearby D’Oria high school, and the women of Castagna were maternal and reassuring. More than one boy dedicated a poem to them. Just like Gino Paoli, who turned that declaration of love into an immortal song.

In the early 1960s, Paoli was a kind of King Midas: everything he composed turned to gold. His relationship with Ornella Vanoni inspired some of his most famous love

Paoli non è ancora iscritto alla Siae e a fargli da prestanome è Mogol che qualche mese dopo convince Mina a cantare “Il cielo in una stanza”, dopo che era stato rifiutato da Jula de Palma e Miranda Martino. «I commenti erano brutti, mi dicevano che quella non era una canzone e in molti mi suggerirono di cambiare mestiere», confidò Paoli.

Invece ha sempre smentito che “Sapore di sale” (arrangiato da Ennio Morricone e Gato Barbieri al sassofono), il suo 45 giri di maggior successo di tutta la sua carriera, fosse stato ispirato da Stefania Sandrelli. Altro suo grande amore, all’epoca sedicenne: «Era un adorabile

Con le donne ha sempre avuto un grande successo. «Ma la mia fama di sciupafemmine andò a farsi benedire quando ho incontrato Paola; per me, da quel giorno è esi stita solo lei». Galeotto fu l’Otto Club, un locale di Sas suolo: «La invitai a ballare un lento e, mentre eravamo guancia a guancia, le chiesi quanti anni avesse. Quando in un orecchio mi sussurrò "quindici" la riportai a sedere: "Torna quando ne avrai sedici". The season has kicked off again and a host of stars are expected. The season opener was the Gianni Di Marzio Award, organised by Telenord and now in its third edition. Taking the specially set stage at Castello Brown were Beppe Dossena, the 1982 World Cup winner and Italy champion with Sampdoria; Claudio Ranieri, the Sir of Italian football; Goran Pandev, a key figure in Mourinho's Inter Milan treble-winning year and a former Genoa player;

Il borgo, ovviamente blindato, era tutto illuminato da luci a stelle e strisce. Un’accoglienza speciale per ospiti super speciali. La visita dell’ex presidente degli Stati Uniti e premio Nobel per la Pace 2009 e consorte, che erano a bordo dello yacht Seven Seas di Steven Spielberg, per Portofino è stato il momento clou del 2025.

E spiega come sia fondamentale che “o paise” continui ad essere vivo anche quando si spengono le luci della ribalta: “Il turista apprezza molto che, venendo a Portofino, si respiri ancora la tradizione di un antico borgo marinaro, un’atmosfera magica che piace molto.

It is even said that he has never taken advantage of the culinary delights of the village’s many restaurants. However, he has one unmissable appointment: focaccia. Specifically, that from the Canale bakery run by the legendary Mrs Mariangela.

July was the month of Magic Johnson, one of the greatest basketball players of all time. In terms of advertising, it would be difficult to put a financial value on his post: “I want everyone to take a look at one of the most beautiful places in the world… Portofino/Italy”.

La partenza da Santa Margherita è un’immersione totale nell’atmosfera della classica estate ligure. Il cammino si sviluppa all’ombra dei viali alberati, costeggiando le file geometriche ed eleganti degli stabilimenti balneari e le barche ormeggiate nel porticciolo. Successivamente, il paesaggio urbano cede il passo a una delle passeggiate più romantiche della costa, la celebre Passeggiata dei Baci: una passerella di legno che corre a filo d’onda fino alla baia dai riflessi color smeraldo di Paraggi. Da qui il percorso si trasforma, abbandonando la strada per abbracciare i silenzi del Parco Naturale di Portofino: ci si trova immersi nel verde dei lecci, dei pini marittimi e degli ulivi, lungo un sentiero a mezza costa che regala improvvisi squarci sulle scogliere sottostanti. Ormai tutto è pronto per una dolce discesa finale, che svela quasi all’improvviso i colori pastello dell’iconica piazzetta di Portofino Spostandosi a Levante, la Riviera cambia volto. È qui, nel cuore del Parco Nazionale delle Cinque Terre, che il cammino incontra l’anima più rurale della regione. Non si tratta solo di una cartolina famosa nel mondo, ma un vero e proprio paradiso per i camminatori, attraversato da una rete di sentieri, da quelli più turistici a quelli più escursionistici, che asseconda ogni desiderio. Ci si trova a calcare antiche mulattiere di pietra calpestate per secoli dai contadini locali, stretti tra la scogliera e i ripidi pendii sostenuti dai

Here, you tread ancient stone mule tracks worn smooth by centuries of farmers, suspended between dramatic cliffs and steep terraces held in place by traditional dry-stone walls. Perhaps no route captures the spirit of this land better than the Sentiero Azzurro, or Blue Trail. Once a vital link between villages before the arrival of the railway, it stretches for about 12 kilometers and takes roughly five hours to complete, connecting all five villages along the way. Beginning in Riomaggiore and ending in Monterosso, it passes through Manarola, Corniglia, and

Nato come via di collegamento vitale tra i villaggi prima dell’arrivo della ferrovia, lungo circa 12 chilometri, dalla durata di cinque ore, attraversa i cinque borghi offrendo scorci spettacolari. Il sentiero parte da Riomaggiore per raggiungere Monterosso, passando per Manarola, Corniglia e Vernazza. Ad alleviare la fatica del cammino ci penserà il profumo dei limoni, del mosto e dell’elicriso, il costante sottofondo della risacca a scandire i passi e l’apparizione improvvisa dei borghi marinari incastonati nella roccia: un vero e proprio concerto per i sensi, in cui profumi, suoni e colori si mescolano per regalare un’atmosfera magica. Per accedere a questo ed altri sentieri, oltre che per poter utilizzare illimitatamente i treni tra i borghi, la migliore opzione è dotarsi della Cinque Terre Treno Card, con cui alternare il ritmo del cammino con quello su rotaia. Infine, per il Ponente la proposta è un percorso caratterizzato da storia e avventura: il Sentiero del Pellegrino.

Già il nome anticipa alcuni tra i punti di interesse dell’itinerario, infatti si incontrano tre antiche chiese, oggi sconsacrate, a testimonianza di un’epoca passata in cui questi ripidi crinali erano meta di pellegrinaggio. Ma il vero protagonista di questa avventura, che si raggiunge con una breve deviazione che scende all’interno della falesia, è la Grotta dei Falsari (o Antro dei Briganti).

Yet the true highlight lies just off the main path: the Grotta dei Falsari, also known as the Brigands’ Cave. Reached by a short detour descending into the cliffside, it is less a cave than a vast natural window carved over millennia by the relentless force of the sea. From here, the trail gradually softens, leading down to a striking, colorful wall adorned with lifebuoys and maritime symbols, known as the Mausoleo Cerisola – or

“the Australian”. Created by sailor Giuseppe Cerisola after his return from Australia, it stands as a tribute to a life shaped by the sea. Just a few more steps, and you arrive in Varigotti, where pastel-colored houses seem to spill directly onto the beach. These three routes are just a glimpse of the countless opportunities awaiting outdoor enthusiasts. The invitation is simple: lace up your boots, fill your water bottle, and let your instincts lead the way.

Più che una grotta, è una gigantesca finestra naturale scavata nei millenni dalla forza erosiva delle onde, un tempo leggendario rifugio di contrabbandieri e oggi teatro per panorami indimenticabili. Da qui il sentiero si fa via via più dolce e lungo la discesa si arriva a un muro colorato a forma di salvagenti e simboli marinari, noto come Mausoleo Cerisola o dell’Australiano. Si tratta di un’opera realizzata da Giuseppe Cerisola, un marinaio che, al ritorno dall’Australia, volle creare un monumento dedicato alle sue esperienze di mare.

Oramai bastano pochi passi per varcare la soglia di Varigotti, con le sue case color pastello che si affacciano direttamente sulla spiaggia.

Questi tre cammini non sono che un assaggio delle centinaia di alternative per gli amanti dell’outdoor. L’invito è aperto: non resta che allacciare gli scarponcini, riempire la borraccia e farsi guidare dall’istinto.

MInterview with Marco Bucci

arco Bucci, President of the Liguria Region, has the region’s tourism data laid out before him. The charts resemble a topographic map of a mountain range, with record-breaking peaks. He walks us through them, like a guide leading us through both his own passions and those of the visitors drawn to Liguria.

Tourism figures in Liguria improve year after year. What’s your secret? Is there a multiplier effect?

The secret is simple: we have a region unlike any other in the world, and we’ve finally started to promote and enhance it properly. In Liguria, within the space of an hour, you can move from the sea to the mountains, from art cities to small villages, enjoying a range of experiences that few places on earth can offer. Visitors truly find everything here: entertainment, relaxation, culture, history, and outstanding food. But having these resources is not enough: they need to be brought together into a coherent system. We have invested in promotion, in the quality of the offer, and in organization. And then there is word of mouth: those who come to Liguria return and bring many others with them. That is the real multiplier effect, and it is what is driving tourism growth year after year.

E ce li illustra, come una guida attraverso le sue passioni e le passioni dei turisti per la Liguria.

I dati sul turismo in Liguria migliorano di anno in anno. Qual è il vostro segreto? C'è un effetto moltiplicatore?

Il segreto è semplice: abbiamo una regione unica al mondo e abbiamo iniziato a raccontarla e valorizzarla come si deve. In Liguria, in un’ora, si passa dal mare alla montagna, dalle città d’arte ai borghi, con un’offerta completa che pochi territori al mondo possono permettersi. I turisti qui trovano davvero tutto: dallo svago al relax, dalla cultura alla storia fino ai sapori della nostra tavola. Ma non basta avere queste risorse: bisogna saperle mettere a sistema. Abbiamo investito sulla promozione, sulla qualità dell’offerta e sull’organizzazione. E poi c’è il passaparola: chi viene in Liguria torna e porta molte altre persone. Questo è l’effetto moltiplicatore vero, ed è quello che oggi sta facendo crescere il turismo anno dopo anno.

Is domestic or international tourism stronger? And where do visitors come from?

I would say the balance is fairly even, and that’s a very important point. It means Liguria appeals to different audiences – Italian and international visitors – who often travel at different times of the year. That’s strategic, because it ensures continuity for the sector and stability for those working in tourism. As for origin markets, the core ones remain those historically linked to our region: Germany, France, and Switzerland. Alongside them, we are seeing growth from the United States, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. Such a diverse audience strengthens the system and supports our efforts toward year-round tourism, which is one of our key objectives.

Coast or inland: where does Liguria’s future lie?

The future of Liguria lies, of course, in both. The coast is famous worldwide and has been a holiday destination for thousands of people who have chosen it year after year, for generations. It is the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of our Liguria, also thanks to its proximity to northern Italian regions: for the residents of Piedmont and Lombardy, it is natural to associate a seaside holiday with Liguria.

In recent years, thanks also to the strong work carried out by the Region and to new traveler sensitivities, we have witnessed a growing interest in the inland areas.

Vince il turismo interno o quello straniero? E da quali Paesi in particolare arrivano i turisti?

Direi che il risultato è sostanzialmente in equilibrio, ed è un dato molto importante. Significa che la Liguria riesce a parlare a pubblici diversi, italiani e stranieri, che spesso scelgono anche periodi differenti dell’anno. Questo è strategico perché garantisce continuità al settore e stabilità a chi lavora nel turismo. Per quanto riguarda le provenienze, i mercati principali restano quelli storicamente legati alla nostra regione: Germania, Francia e Svizzera. A questi si aggiungono in crescita Stati Uniti, Paesi Bassi e Regno Unito. Avere una platea così diversificata ci permette di rafforzare il sistema e di lavorare sempre di più sulla destagionalizzazione, che è uno degli obiettivi centrali della nostra strategia.

Costa o entroterra? Il futuro della Liguria dove sta?

Il futuro della Liguria sta ovviamente in entrambi. La costa è famosa in tutto il mondo, è luogo di vacanza per migliaia di persone che la scelgono ogni anno, da generazioni. È la prima cosa che viene in mente quando si pensa alla nostra Liguria, anche in virtù della vicinanza con le regioni del Nord Italia: per gli abitanti di Piemonte e Lombardia credo sia naturale far coincidere l’idea di una vacanza al mare con la Liguria. Negli ultimi anni, anche grazie al grande lavoro portato avanti dalla Regione e a nuove sensibilità da parte dei turisti e dei viaggiatori, abbiamo assistito a un interesse crescente per l’entroterra, che viene scelto sempre di più da chi ama lo sport e le attività all’aria aperta come trekking, escursionismo, arrampicata, downhill e da chi ama il turismo lento e i percorsi meno battuti. Una tendenza che ha fatto crescere i numeri e sta rivitalizzando intere aree, ma che ha conso-

These are increasingly chosen by those who enjoy sport and outdoor activities such as trekking, hiking, climbing, and downhill biking, as well as by those who prefer slow tourism and less-traveled routes. This trend has increased visitor numbers and revitalized entire areas, while also strengthening the de-seasonalization of tourism, with a growing number of visitors choosing Liguria outside the summer period.

Today, we can say that the sector is a true industry, generating employment and development all year round.

As a tourist yourself, which places in Liguria do you prefer?

I love both the sea and the mountains, so my choices reflect that. The Cinque Terre coastline is one of the most extraordinary places we have, known worldwide. At the same time, I am very fond of the Genoa Forts, which offer a mountain landscape overlooking the sea just minutes from the city, with unique views. Then there’s the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri, with scenery that can rival the great Alpine chains. That’s where you truly grasp the diversity of our territory. But the list could go on forever – every corner of Liguria holds places of unique beauty worth discovering, both for visitors and for locals.

What are your personal favorite places? Any memories tied to your holidays in Liguria?

I can’t help but mention a few unforgettable spots linked to my passion for mountaineering: the Canalino

Marco Bucci turista quali luoghi predilige in Liguria?

Sono un amante del mare e della montagna, quindi le mie scelte vanno in questa direzione. La costa delle Cinque Terre è uno dei luoghi più straordinari che abbiamo, conosciuto in tutto il mondo. Allo stesso tempo amo molto i Forti di Genova, che rappresentano una montagna affacciata sul mare, a pochi minuti dalla città, con panorami unici.

on Mount Penna, where I used to train in winter, Baiarda at Acquasanta, and the cliffs of the Finalese area. For hiking, the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri, especially around Genoa. By the sea, I am particularly fond of Liguria’s small harbors, particularly Le Grazie in the La Spezia area and Porto Maurizio in the west, as well as those of Camogli and Santa Margherita Ligure.

And I’ll never forget my first “cruise”: ten days in a small “gozzo” from Genoa to San Fruttuoso, when I was 16, with a group of friends.

E poi l’Alta Via dei Monti Liguri, che offre scenari davvero spettacolari, capaci di competere con quelli delle grandi catene alpine. È lì che si coglie fino in fondo la varietà del nostro territorio. Ma l’elenco potrebbe essere infinito, in ogni angolo della Liguria troviamo luoghi di una bellezza unica che meritano di essere scoperti e vissuti, dai turisti e da tutti i cittadini della nostra regione.

E quali sono i suoi luoghi del cuore della vita? Ci sono aneddoti legati alle sue vacanze in Liguria?

Non posso non citare alcuni luoghi indimenticabili legati alla mia passione per l’alpinismo: il Canalino del monte Penna, dove mi allenavo ad arrampicare in inverno, la Baiarda all’Acquasanta, le pareti del Finalese. Per quanto riguarda le escursioni, l’Alta via dei Monti Liguri, soprattutto nella zona genovese. Passando al mare, sono molto legato ai porticcioli liguri, in particolare quello delle Grazie nello spezzino e a Porto Maurizio a ponente, ma anche a quelli di Camogli e Santa Margherita Ligure. E poi non posso dimenticare la mia prima crociera, da Genova a San Fruttuoso: 10 giorni, in gozzo, a 16 anni, con alcuni amici.

What’s your favorite Ligurian menu?

I am a traditionalist and I like simple things: focaccia and cappuccino in the morning; trenette avvantaggiate and fried anchovies for lunch. These are staples of our tradition and perfectly represent Ligurian identity.

Qual è il menù ligure preferito da Marco Bucci?

Sono un tradizionalista e amo le cose semplici. Focaccia e cappuccino al mattino. Trenette avvantaggiate a pranzo. Sono elementi che fanno parte della nostra tradizione e che rappresentano perfettamente l’identità ligure.

Do you feel moved when you see the streets of Genoa and Ligurian villages packed with tourists?

Absolutely. It is an extraordinary result, the outcome of years of work – first as mayor and now as president of the region. Genoa is a wonderful city that reflects the character of its people: a bit tough, sometimes reserved, but generous and, once discovered, full of unexpected beauty. For years it was overlooked, something of a Cinderella, but it has nothing to envy other great Italian art cities. Tourists – also thanks to the powerful boost provided by cruise tourism – are beginning to realize this, and today Genoa is firmly on the map of international tourism.

Si emoziona vedendo le strade di Genova e dei borghi liguri strapiene di turisti?

Certo. È un risultato straordinario, frutto di anni di lavoro sia come sindaco sia oggi come presidente della Regione. Genova è una città meravigliosa, che riflette il carattere di noi liguri: ostica, a volte ombrosa, ma generosa e capace, una volta scoperta, di rivelare angoli di meraviglia inaspettati. È stata per anni poco considerata, una sorta di Cenerentola, ma non ha nulla da invidiare alle altre grandi città d’arte della penisola. I turisti, anche grazie a quello straordinario volano che sono le crociere, se ne stanno accorgendo, e oggi Genova è stabilmente nei radar del turismo internazionale.

For Fausto Brizzi, one of Italy’s leading film directors, life in Liguria has two eras: b.S. and a.S., before and after his marriage to Silvia Salis, now Mayor of Genoa.

But both in the b.S. phase and in the a.S. era, there is an independent variable in Fausto’s passion for Liguria and the sea. What follows is not an interview, but a love declaration – for Liguria.

Fausto Brizzi, did you discover Liguria when you got married to Silvia?

“Actually, thanks to Silvia I’m here very often, but even before I used to come quite a lot, starting with the week of

Fausto Brizzi, da quando si è sposato con Silvia Salis ha scoperto la Liguria?

“In verità, grazie a Silvia ci sono spessissimo, ma anche prima la frequentavo parecchio, a partire dalla settimana

You are so closely tied to the Festival that for years you also signed the commercials for Regione Liguria and #lamialiguria for Sanremo. What do you take away from that experience?

“Those commercials allowed me to get to know every corner of this beautiful region.

Because that’s the beauty of our job: scouting locations lets you discover all sorts of views in order to study the best camera angles”.

Lei è talmente legato al Festival che per anni ha firmato anche gli spot di Regione Liguria e de #lamialiguria per Sanremo. Cosa le resta di quell’esperienza?

“Quegli spot mi hanno fatto conoscere tutti gli angoli di questa bellissima regione. Perchè questo è il bello del nostro lavoro: i sopralluoghi permettono di scoprire tutti gli scorci per studiare le inquadrature più belle”.

In quel caso, fra l’altro, non vi limitaste ai classici paesaggi da cartolina, ma lei andò a cercare anche immagini particolari di Genova, dal Mercato Orientale alle chiese nei vicoli…

“Sì, erano e veri e propri cortometraggi di 30 secondi in cui coinvolsi tanti attori e amici con cui avevo già lavorato, da Nicolas Vaporidis a Chiara Francini. E poi, l’anno successivo, quando ambientammo gli spot ai tempi di Cristoforo Colombo, furono con noi Maurizio Lastrico e Alice Arcuri. Poi facemmo anche lo spot con i baci in tutta la Liguria….”.

Insomma, i sopralluoghi sono la sua guida turistica della Liguria?

“Sì, sono il modo migliore per conoscere posti che magari non ti serviranno immediatamente per il film che stai realizzando in quel momento, ma che entrano in un archivio mentale dei ricordi e possono venire buoni per un film successivo. Da questo punto di vista la Liguria offre moltissime opportunità, è straordinaria”.

Insomma, presto vedremo un film di Fausto Brizzi ambientato in Liguria?

“No, finchè mia moglie Silvia Salis sarà impegnata politicamente a Genova, per una scelta mia, non perché sia obbligato, ho deciso di non girare film in Liguria. Le piace fare il sindaco e lo fa bene e non voglio in alcun modo che si possa pensare che io abbia una corsia preferenziale. Ma questo non mi impedisce di mettere nel mio archivio delle immagini alcuni scorci splendidi, come la passeggiata di Nervi”.

A Genova ha anche altri luoghi del cuore?

“Rispetto a Roma, dove magari mi riconoscono in più persone, ho la fortuna di poter girare per strada senza essere riconosciuto e quindi riesco a vedere ogni angolo della città e della regione”.

Posti di cui è innamorato?

“Risposta facile e forse banale. Ad esempio, le Cinque Terre, dove capita di andare spesso con Silvia. Ma anche il Golfo Paradiso, da Bogliasco a Pieve Ligure, dove abbiamo preso la nostra prima casa insieme in Liguria”.

In that case, you didn’t limit yourself to classic postcard landscapes – you also sought out unusual images of Genoa, from the Mercato Orientale to churches in the alleyways…

“Yes, they were true 30-second short films in which I involved many actors and friends I had already worked with, from Nicolas Vaporidis to Chiara Francini. And then, the following year, when we set the spots in the time of Christopher Columbus, Maurizio Lastrico and Alice Arcuri were with us. Then we also did the commercial with kisses all across Liguria…”.

So are location scouting trips your Liguria travel guide?

“Yes, they are the best way to discover places that might not immediately be useful for the film you are working on at that moment, but which enter an archive of memories and can come in handy for a later film. From that point of view, Liguria offers many opportunities – it’s extraordinary”.

So will we soon see a Fausto Brizzi film set in Liguria?

“No. As long as my wife Silvia Salis is engaged in politics in Genoa, by my own choice – not because I’m forced to – I’ve decided not to shoot films in Liguria. She enjoys

Prima Pieve Ligure, ora Murcarolo a Genova. Lei e Silvia Salis scegliete sempre case in riva al mare. Vi piace il profumo di salsedine?

“Già quando scegliemmo la prima casa, da romano –cioè da abitante di una città dove il mare non è in centro - dissi subito che mi sarebbe piaciuto vivere di fronte al mare. E anche oggi la scelta è stata quella di un romano e di una genovese innamorati di Genova e del suo mare”.

Lei e Silvia, nonostante tutti gli impegni, riuscite a stare con vostro figlio Eugenio. Avete dei luoghi del cuore per lui?

“La Liguria è un posto che offre molte opportunità anche ai bimbi, noi abbiamo la fortuna di avere la nonna che ci aiuta molto. Quando riusciamo, andiamo ai giardini di Quinto o ai Parchi di Nervi, entrambi vicinissimi a casa e paradiso per i piccoli”.

Lei si divide fra Genova e Roma. Cosa prevede il futuro di Fausto Brizzi?

“Stiamo finendo gli ultimi dettagli del film che uscirà ad ottobre, che si intitolerà “Quasi vera” e racconterà la storia di un’influencer famosissima che però è solo frutto dell’intelligenza artificiale. Il racconto di una truffa portata avanti in modo fraudolento da Frank Matano con Laura Chiatti, Rocio Munoz Morales e Taylor Mega”.

“An easy and maybe obvious answer: the Cinque Terre, where we often go with Silvia. But also the Golfo Paradiso, from Bogliasco to Pieve Ligure, where we bought our first home together in Liguria”.

First Pieve Ligure, now Murcarolo in Genoa. You and Silvia Salis always choose homes by the sea. Do you like the smell of salt air?

“When we chose our first house, as a Roman – someone from a city where the sea is not in the centre – I immediately said I would like to live facing the sea. And even today, the choice is that of a Roman and a Genoese both in love with Genoa and its sea”.

Ma se fosse messo alle strette sceglierebbe Roma o Genova?

“Sono romano e ovviamente amo Roma, ma se la mia vita personale lo permettesse oggi sceglierei di vivere solo a Genova, città che amo profondamente”.

Qual è il segreto con cui Genova l’ha fatta innamorare?

“Proprio il mare. Mi piace moltissimo scrivere davanti al mare, sia i film, sia i libri. L’ultimo romanzo, “Siamo scritti a matita”, l’ho scritto sulla spiaggia di Boccadasse”.

Despite all your commitments, you and Silvia manage to spend time with your son Eugenio. Do you have special places for him?

“Liguria is a place that offers many opportunities for children. We’re lucky to have the grandmother helping us a lot. When we can, we go to the Quinto gardens or the Nervi Parks, both very close to home and a paradise for kids”.

You split your time between Genoa and Rome. What does the future hold for Fausto Brizzi?

“We are finishing the final details of the film that will be released in October, titled Quasi vera (Almost True), which tells the story of a very famous influencer who is actually entirely created by artificial intelligence. It’s the story of a scam carried out fraudulently by Frank Matano with Laura Chiatti, Rocío Muñoz Morales and Taylor Mega”.

If forced to choose, would you pick Rome or Genoa?

“I’m Roman and I obviously love Rome, but if my personal life allowed it, today I would choose to live only in Genoa, a city I deeply love”.

What is the secret that made you fall in love with Genoa?

“The sea. I love writing in front of the sea – both films and

The book tells the story of an elderly couple in love. She has Alzheimer’s and remembers nothing of her life, and he recounts their shared history from the moment they met. Will it become a film?

“Yes, although I won’t be the director. Writing it in front of the sea moved me”.

Sea, sea, sea. But the inland areas?

“I explore them mainly to eat – very often… But I don’t ski, I don’t hike, I don’t explore the mountains. I prefer the sea. But one of the beautiful things about Liguria is that in just fifteen minutes you can go from one landscape to another”.

Mare, mare, mare. Ma l’entroterra?

“Lo esploro per mangiare, quello molto spesso….Però non scio, non faccio passeggiate, non esploro l’alta montagna. Insomma, preferisco il mare. Ma fra le tante cose belle della Liguria c’è il fatto che in un solo quarto d’ora si passa da un ambiente all’altro”.

Quali sono i suoi posti preferiti?

“Oltre a Pieve, Bogliasco e alle Cinque Terre, che ho già citato, Portofino, Santa Margherita Ligure, Camogli, che amo moltissimo, uno dei miei luoghi del cuore in assoluto”.

E sulla Riviera di Ponente, a parte Sanremo?

“Confesso che la conosco meno. Molti anni fa avevo una fidanzata, Giorgia Wurth, che era di Varazze, che mi fece conoscere anche quella costa. Ma, per l’appunto, era in un’altra vita”.

Luca Lombardi, assessore al Turismo di Regione Liguria, può iniziare a tremare. Lei è un perfetto testimonial del turismo in Liguria. E’ così entusiasta anche nell’invitare i suoi amici?

“Sì, lo dico a tutti e in moltissimi vengono a trovarci a Genova. Certamente sono un motore di spostamento e spero di contribuire all’indotto della regione”.

Your favourite places?

“Besides Pieve, Bogliasco and the Cinque Terre, which I already mentioned, Portofino, Santa Margherita Ligure, Camogli – which I love deeply, one of my absolute heart places”.

And on the western Riviera, apart from Sanremo?

“I admit I know it less. Many years ago I had a girlfriend, Giorgia Würth, who was from Varazze, who introduced me to that coast as well. But that, precisely, was another life”.

You are a perfect ambassador for Ligurian tourism… Are you enthusiastic in inviting your friends?

“Yes, I tell everyone, and many people come to visit us in Genoa. I am certainly a driving force and I hope to contribute to the region’s economy”.

It’s no easy task, for any product, to satisfy and reach the widest possible range of audiences – let alone in music.

It’s almost scientific: different audience segments demand different offerings. But we need to go beyond outdated and simplistic age-based categories – under, over, middle. What really matters are tastes and genres: pop, rock, jazz, rap, electronic, indie, Latin, singer-songwriters, and even musical theatre. Meeting all these preferences is no small feat.

And yet, this year the challenge becomes easier: just come to Liguria, which is preparing to host concerts and music for every genre and taste – for every audience.

It’s impossible not to start with the most memorable event of the 2026 summer: Olly’s three dates. Memorable indeed, because the winner of Sanremo 2025 was the first to perform at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in Marassi after 22 years – following Vasco Rossi and Bruce Springsteen – for the “Grand Finale” of his “Tutti a casa” tour.

If Olly is “coming home”, others are “staying home”: Sayf, riding the wave of post-Sanremo success with his “Santissima Fest”, and the much-loved Bresh.

The Rapallo artist is ready to be celebrated in Genoa as a rising star of the Ligurian urban scene on July 18 at the Porto Antico, with a day-long celebration – almost a festival within the festival – while the singer from Bogliasco will light up the nights from July 1 to 5, also at the Arena del Mare in the Porto Antico.

Non è impresa facile, per nessun prodotto, soddisfare e centrare la più vasta gamma di target possibili. Figuriamoci per la musica.

E’ scientifico: segmenti di pubblico diversi pretendono prodotti diversi. Occorre però precisare quale target si prende di riferimento, andando oltre le ormai desuete e banali suddivisioni per età: under, over, middle. I parametri da soddisfare sono altri. Sono i gusti, i generi: pop, rock, jazz, rap, elettronica, indie, latina, cantautori e persino teatro musicale. E soddisfare tutti questi gusti, appunto, non è impresa facile.

Eppure quest’anno l’impresa si semplifica, basta venire in Liguria, che si prepara ad ospitare concerti e musica per ogni genere e gusto. Per ogni target.

Non si può non partire con l’evento più memorabile della bella stagione 2026: le tre date di Olly

Memorabile si, perchè il vincitore di Sanremo 2025 è stato il primo fruitore dello stadio Luigi Ferraris di Marassi dopo 22 anni di attesa, dopo Vasco Rossi e dopo Bruce Springsteen, per il “Gran Finale” del tour “Tutti a casa”.

The explosive start to Liguria’s music season took place in Piazza Matteotti in Genoa, with a DJ set by Charlotte De Witte, the Belgian world’s most famous DJ, brought in by Mayor Silvia Salis and Councillor for Major Events Lorenzo Garzarelli.

The concert drew eight thousand people to the square and over twenty thousand across the entire historic centre. It gained worldwide attention, becoming the subject of tens of thousands of memes, reels, and social media reactions, putting Genoa firmly in the spotlight. Notably, the choice of the historic centre and a central square was specifically requested by the Belgian artist.

And when people say that more is always better, the summer stage in La Spezia proves it by hosting not one, not two, but three winners of the Sanremo Festival: Francesco Gabbani, a local artist from Carrara who lives in Luni, on July 16; Riccardo Cocciante on August 5; and Emma Marrone on July 11, who is experiencing a new artistic revival thanks to social media and the success of L’amore non mi basta. Staying in the same province, the Lerici Music Festival – dedicated to jazz and overseas music throughout July – is not to be missed. Piazza Matteotti in Sarzana will also host live performances by Genoese artist Alfa and the ever-relevant Daniele Silvestri, who share not only their hit Le cose che abbiamo in comune, but also this summer in eastern Liguria.

t may seem incredible, but just a few fi n strokes from home, the seabeds of Liguria offer sights and emotions that can outshine those sought in exotic destinations which, although beautiful, are often not up to the standard of our own waters.

Before taking a full immersion into our sea, it must be clearly stated that in Liguria the most suitable and rewarding period for diving runs from May to October, when weather conditions allow it to rival tropical destinations.

Sembra incredibile, ma a due colpi di pinna da casa, i fondali della Liguria offrono spettacoli ed emozioni che possono far impallidire quelle che si vanno a cercare in mete esotiche che, pur belle, spesso, non sono all’altezza dei nostri fondali.

Prima di fare una full immersion nel nostro mare, dobbiamo dire chiaramente che in Liguria il periodo più fruibile e valido per le immersioni va da maggio a ottobre quando le condizioni meteo consentono di rivaleggiare con le nazioni tropicali.

For diving in Liguria, the most beautiful seabeds are undoubtedly those of the Portofino Marine Protected Area, which boasts as many as 23 dive sites. Along the southern coast of the promontory, even at just a few meters of depth, one can encounter groupers, brown meagre, barracudas, seabream, gilt-head bream, and moray eels. From around twenty meters downward, red coral begins to appear, followed by gorgonians. The deeper you go, the more lush the gorgonians become and the more spectacular the coral appears.

Nelle stagioni propizie le soddisfazioni non mancano per chi vuol fare snorkeling e, ancora di più per tutti gli appassionati di fotografi a e videosub che si immergono con l’autorespiratore. Per fare le immersioni in Liguria, i fondali più belli sono sicuramente quelli dell’Area Marina Protetta di Portofino dove ci sono ben 23 punti d’immersione. Lungo la costa meridionale del promontorio si possono incontrare anche a pochi metri di profondità cernie, corvine, barracuda, saraghi, orate e murene. Da una ventina di metri in giù, inizia il corallo rosso e poi arrivano le gorgonie. Più si scende e più le gorgonie diventano rigogliose e il corallo si fa sempre più spettacolare.

Lungo la costa ligure di ponente, nei pressi di Bergeggi (Savona), si trova il piccolo paradiso dell’Isola di Bergeggi che è Area Marina Protetta dal 2007. Si raggiunge in pochi minuti di navigazione dai diving center della zona.

L’isola offre fondali molto vari che sono l’habitat ideale per una varietà di specie ittiche che raramente si trovano in altri siti d’immersione nel Mar Mediterraneo. Proseguendo verso ponente, fra Albenga e Alassio troviamo l’isola della Gallinara che si caratterizza per la spettacolarità dei fondali e per l’abbondanza e la varietà di specie ittiche stanziali e di passaggio.

The first is aquaticity, a term that refers to an underwater photographer’s ability to move through the water without stirring up annoying particles that would otherwise spoil the image – so, nearly perfect buoyancy is required, and, if using a reflex system, the ability to handle the considerable bulk of the camera with attached flashes. Everything is less complicated if using a compact camera housing.

Ma è varcando il portale monumentale che si comprende la vera essenza del palazzo. Nel 1874, con un gesto di immenso mecenatismo e amore per la sua città, la Duchessa donò il palazzo e le sue collezioni d’arte al Comune di Genova, a patto che venissero fruite dal pubblico “per accrescere il decoro e l’utile della città”.

On the second noble floor, gilded stuccoes frame large frescoes that create the illusion of open skies across the ceilings. For this reason, La Spezia supports the ALA (Ligurian–Apuan Area), a network of more than 66 municipalities that aims to transform competition into collaboration by enhancing the value of the coastline, inland areas, cities, and villages.

From this vision, thanks to funding provided by the Italian Ministry of Tourism, LIMES was created: a digital platform dedicated to promoting the cultural heritage of the historic Lunigiana, the "Land of 100 Castles." Castles, museums, archaeological sites, villages, and local traditions are presented through a unified approach, strengthening the identity of the territory.

Il progetto LIMES: una nuova visione per il turismo culturale e sostenibile Oggi il turismo richiede una strategia condivisa, capace di superare i confini amministrativi e promuovere il territorio come un'unica destinazione. Per questo La Spezia sostiene l'ALA (Area Ligure-Apuana), una rete di oltre 66 comuni che punta a trasformare la competizione in collaborazione, valorizzando costa, entroterra, città e borghi.

Da questa visione, grazie al finanziamento del Ministero del Turismo, è nato LIMES, una piattaforma digitale dedicata alla valorizzazione del patrimonio culturale della Lunigiana storica, la "Terra dei 100 Castelli". Castelli, musei, siti archeologici, borghi e tradizioni locali vengono raccontati in modo unitario, rafforzando l'identità del territorio.

Pacifico racconta esperienze di vita dove venivano rubati i mattoni delle prime sale prove con il suo gruppo, i Rossomaltese, fino a concerti nell’entroterra di Cosenza, quando ancora non c’erano i telefonini e poi, dopo 1500 chilometri in macchina da Milano, trovava il locale con il cartello “chiuso per omicidio” e i promoter locali ovviamente assenti.

Ornella was deeply attached to Genoa ‒ not only because of her long love story with Gino Paoli, but also because her longtime dentist was Flavio Gaggero from Pegli, a beloved figure who recently passed away. He was the only person capable of turning a dentist’s office into a sort of Renaissance café where everything was discussed, and of making even the most dreaded dental appointment enjoyable. Then there is Malika Ayane, another extraordinary voice with whom Pacifico shares not only artistic collaboration but friendship ‒ sometimes even singing second voice in duets filled with sweetness and sensitivity. «She speaks Italian, English, French, and German, which once helped her work as a secretary ‒ an excellent one. But she is a unique artist, even in her style. The first time we met in Milan, she showed up wearing a wide-brimmed hat like the English ladies at Ascot…». And some of the songs they wrote together were born right in Genoa, in the Darsena district, facing the sea. And just like with Ornella and Malika, his collaboration with Gianna Nannini is historic. They connect instantly ‒ humanly before musically. On the day Sei nell’anima was born, soon to become a classic of Nannini’s repertoire, the meeting was set up by Adele Di Palma ‒ a legendary Italian music manager with her Cose di musica, deeply tied to Liguria, particularly Chiavari, where she has her quiet retreat, and who organized the most important and definitive tours of Ivano Fossati and Fabrizio De André.

«I arrived at Gianna’s house right on time for our afternoon appointment», Pacifico recalls, «but I found her running on the scaffolding, chasing a worker up the planks. When she finally caught the poor man, she believed she had stopped an intruder. Trembling, he said, “Excuse me, Ms. Nannini, but you called me… I’m working for you”. After the poor guy was cleared, one of the most-played songs in Italian music was born».

Gino’s stories continue with Celentano, busy editing Adrian with a setting that Pacifico describes as “subtle-something like Ben Hur”, and with the creation of two extraordinary songs, I passi che facciamo and Ti penso e cambia il mondo,

Oppure, Malika Ayane, un’altra voce straordinaria con cui Gino-Pacifico è complice ed amico, prima ancora che autore e in qualche caso seconda voce, in duetti di dolcezza e sensibilità straordinarie: “Lei parla italiano, inglese, francese e tedesco e questo la aiutava a lavorare come segretaria, bravissima. Ma è un’artista unica, anche nello stile. La prima volta che ci siamo dati appuntamento a Milano si presentò con un cappello a larga tesa, tipo quelli indossati dalle dame inglesi ad Ascot…”. E alcune delle canzoni che hanno scritto insieme sono nate proprio a Genova, in Darsena, davanti al mare.

suo buen retiro, all’organizzazione dei tour più importanti e definitivi di Ivano Fossati e Fabrizio De André. “Arrivai a casa di Gianna in orario per il nostro appuntamento, fissato nel primo pomeriggio, ma la trovai che correva sulle impalcature, inseguendo sui ponteggi un operaio. Quando lo sventurato fu raggiunto e arpionato dalla cantante che pensava di aver sventato un’incursione, lui disse timidissimo: “Mi scusi signora Nannini, ma mi ha chiamato lei per sistemare una cosa e sto lavorando per lei…”. Quando il poverino fu scagionato, nacque uno dei pezzi più programmati dell’intera musica italiana. I racconti di Gino passano da Celentano, alle prese con il montaggio di “Adrian” con un’ambientazione “sobria, tipo Ben Hur” ride Pacifico, con la nascita di due canzoni straordinarie come “I passi che facciamo” e “Ti penso e cambia il mondo”, come sempre con Claudia Mori come ufficiale di collegamento.

E poi c’è il racconto del capolavoro assoluto di Pacifico, che si chiama “Le mie parole” ed è una delle canzoni più dense della musica italiana recente. Con un testo talmente bello da essere stato fatto proprio da uno dei più grandi autori, che è Samuele Bersani, tanto che in molti pensano che quella di Bersani sia la versione originale, un suo testo. Insomma, racconta Pacifico, “un giorno io ero al supermercato a comprare surgelati, l’unico cibo che potevo permettermi tranquillamente in quel momento e mi squillò il telefono. Dall’altra parte c’era Samuele e pensai a uno scherzo… “Sì, sì Bersani, certo…”. Insomma, da lì nacque la loro collaborazione, “ma i miei surgelati si sciolsero tutti”.

Ecco, la frase “Si tuffa il cuore” la dice Ivano con la sua inconfondibile voce torrida ed è qualcosa di fronte alla quale non si può restare indifferenti.

Perché fuori dall’Acquario di Genova, batte il cuore di una città che sa come catturarti, in un’alternanza di passi, voci, storie, giochi, attrazioni che possono portarci ovunque.

A Genova - come nel resto della Liguria - la regola da osservare con i bambini è la seguente: non inventarsi nulla.

In Genoa – as in the rest of Liguria – the rule to follow with children is this: don’t overthink things. Instead, learn to observe. And to give things up. Give up haste, and the idea that every day must be “fully exploited”.

A few kilometers from Genoa’s Porto Antico, the Nervi Parks (Genoa) offer an essential stop for nature lovers. Greenery intertwines with the blue of the sky, and the legendary Anita Garibaldi promenade, perched above the sea, reconnects both adults and children with the value of relaxation and exploration, among lawns, palm trees, rose gardens, squirrels, slides, and play areas respectfully integrated into the centuries-old park landscape.

Continuing eastward, in the Portofino Regional Natural Park (between Camogli, Portofino, and Santa Margherita Ligure), the journey becomes a small great adventure, by taking any path at all. Not a specific one – truly any path. If you are looking for adventure, it will find you. As long as you are willing to accept your child’s first “I’m tired” after ten minutes of walking. After fifteen, however, the first stick picked up from the ground might capture their attention, just like that curious lizard darting between the rocks or an insect they’ve never seen before.

Thus, the concept of time becomes a circle, where the real treasure is not the destination but the journey.

Piuttosto imparare ad osservare. E a rinunciare. Rinunciare alla fretta, all’idea che ogni giornata debba essere “sfruttata” appieno.

Ad una manciata di chilometri dal Porto Antico di Genova, i Parchi di Nervi (Genova) offrono una tappa immancabile per gli amanti della natura. Il verde si intreccia all’azzurro del cielo e la mitica passeggiata Anita Garibaldi a picco sul mare, riconnette grandi e piccini con il valore del relax e dell’esplorazione, tra prati, palme, roseti, scoiattoli, scivoli e giochi integrati rispettosamente nella realtà secolare dei parchi.

Proseguendo per levante, nel Parco Naturale Regionale di Portofino (tra Camogli, Portofino e Santa Margherita Ligure), il viaggio diventa una piccola grande avventura, imboccando un sentiero qualsiasi. Non un sentiero preciso, ma davvero uno qualsiasi. Se si è in cerca di avventura, sarà lei a trovarci. Sempre che si sia disposti ad accogliere il primo “sono stanco” di tuo figlio dopo dieci minuti di camminata. Dopo quindici, però, il primo bastone raccolto da terra potrebbe catturare la sua attenzione, come quella curiosa lucertola che scappa via tra i sassi o quell'insetto mai visto prima.

Così il concetto di tempo diventa un cerchio, in cui il vero tesoro non è la meta ma il viaggio.

E mentre costruiscono castelli di sabbia la fantasia e la creatività volano. E i genitori, per una volta, si siedono. Non controllano e non intervengono di continuo. Guardano e basta. La pace. Alla Baia del Silenzio, infatti, regna un equilibrio sottile, fatto di libertà, di un’atmosfera fiabesca e al tempo stesso rilassante.

L’immaginazione diventa realtà, se pensiamo invece ad un’esperienza autentica tra gli animali della Fattoria Didattica il Ciliegio nelle alture di Genova. E’ la scelta giusta per avvicinarsi davvero al mondo animale, con un gesto semplice fatto di comprensione e presenza.

Qui la Liguria si spoglia completamente. C’è solo il silenzio. E allora sono i genitori a tornare bambini. L’intrattenimento non serve, perché è già lì nella sua maestosità.

Insomma, il posto giusto non è sempre il più bello in assoluto, ma quello che più è in grado di allontanarci dalla nostra routine. Quello in cui non ci si sente ospiti, ma parte di qualcosa. I bambini giocano, immaginano, si nutrono di tutto ciò che vedono. Non c’è niente di straordinario in questo. Ed è proprio il motivo per cui tutto funziona a meraviglia. Viaggiare con un bambino, in fondo, diventa impossibile solo se esigiamo il controllo su ogni cosa.

Children play, imagine, and absorb everything they see. There is nothing extraordinary in this. And that is exactly why everything works wonderfully. Traveling with a child, in the end, becomes impossible only if we demand control over everything. We set off thinking we must show them the world, at our pace and with our ideas, but very often we realize that the world is already there, within reach. Where a path can become an adventure. A beach the stage of an unforgettable memory. Liguria with children, in this story, is not a list of places to visit. It is an invitation to let yourself be carried, to slow down, to observe, and to be surprised by everything we too often take for granted – but which is not. What I have learned from traveling with a child is that children do not need to be amazed. They carry wonder within them. They seek it out and fi nd it effortlessly, in their small yet vast world. And when you follow their lead, without dragging them along, you realize you have something to learn from them, too. That, in the end, traveling is not about taking someone to see the world. It is about learning, together, to look at it in a better way.

nglish travelers came to Liguria in search of collectible flowers. In their cahiers de voyage, the pages alternated: one side printed with the flower’s corolla in black and white and its strictly scientific name, and the facing page deliberately left blank, where they could sketch with a pencil or linger over a colorful watercolor. Only the flower actually found would enter this very special journey, made up of routes through the hinterland, along paths and picturesque villages. There were, of course, also more frivolous motives than a passion for botany, as well illustrated in Doctor Antonio, a 19th-century bestseller written in English by Giovanni Ruffini, the exile in the UK and brother of the more famous Jacopo, a Carbonaro and follower of Mazzini, who became a suicidal hero of the Risorgimento.

Iviaggiatori inglesi arrivavano in Liguria alla ricerca di fiori da collezione. Il libro, che pare diede l’avvio a un vero e proprio turismo letterario, raccontava infatti dell’amore di Lady Lucy per il bell’Antonio, un medico condotto. La rottura di una gamba per un incidente della sua carrozza dopo un volo vertiginoso giù dalla corniche, valse alla clorotica inglese la permanenza forzata in quella Riviera, tra Bordighera e Ospedaletti. Qui, nella bellezza della natura di una villa, sboccia un amore romantico e tragico che contagia i lettori. Il romanzo consacrò nell’immaginario inglese l’Italian Riviera come patria dell’amore, e la curiosità di visitare quei luoghi. E non solo. Una Britannia che, con la stessa bandiera e lo stesso santo, San Giorgio, vestiva anche in quel jeans, telo di Genova, che arriva a Southampton dal porto ligure. Un fil blue dunque che lega indissolubilmente queste due città dallo stesso understatement e passione per il mare e la scoperta. Choosing Liguria to organize the wedding of your dreams is becoming increasingly trendy. A website even offers 44 possible locations, ranging from seaside cliff villas to castles and prestigious reception halls. For a quote, with the sea naturally as the preferred backdrop, just a click is enough.

The top choice remains Portofino, with its legendary little square. In this village nestled between sea and mountains, which looks like it came out of a fairy tale, it even happened that an entire cruise ship docked with guests on board to celebrate

the wedding of Anant Ambani, son of India’s richest man, owner of Reliance Industries Limited (estimated wealth: 116 billion dollars).

Nel borgo incastonato tra il mare e i monti, che sembra uscito da un libro delle fiabe, è persino capitato che approdasse un’intera nave da crociera con a bordo gli invitati per celebrare il matrimonio

Flowers, decorations, fairy-tale atmospheres and hundreds of courses for a legendary celebration. All restaurants were rented out for the event and dedicated themselves to customised catering, with 600 people involved in the organisation. Access to the village was closed by municipal decision; only residents with identification wristbands were allowed through.

“Within living memory of Portofino residents, the village had never been so festively dressed and rented out by a single private party”, wrote Il Secolo XIX. But Ligurians are not fond of ostentation, and since complaining is almost an art form, some also commented: “And to think Churchill used to come here…”.

The former fishing village, now a destination for film and music stars, politicians and assorted VIPs, was also chosen by Kourtney Kardashian, who – along with her sisters – became famous in the United States and worldwide thanks to a reality show that brought them extraordinary popularity.

She chose Portofino when, after a non-legally recognised ceremony held in Las Vegas and the official one in Santa Barbara, it was time to celebrate a religious rite to marry Travis Barker, drummer of the pop-punk band Blink-182.

Insomma, tutto al limite del kitsch e non c’è da scandalizzarsi allora se Kim Kardashian, probabilmente la più famosa delle sorelle, quando le è stato servito un risotto con scampi e gamberi di Santa Margherita abbia chiesto del ketchup. “Spiacente, lo abbiamo terminato”, è stata la gelida risposta di uno degli addetti al servizio ai tavoli.

Among the guests were also Elon Musk with his inseparable partner, singer Grimes, and six bodyguards.

Castello Brown was chosen as the venue. For the occasion, cooks and waiters were required to sign a confidentiality clause with a € 25,000 fine for anyone who disclosed photos or videos of the ceremony.

“And it’s not only VIPs who choose Liguria. Many come from Lombardy, Piedmont and even abroad.

Many from the United States, but also from England, Scotland, Ireland, Germany and the Nordic countries. And the menus are very varied”.

riora is a land of ancient stories and mysteries. The small Roman-era village in the Upper Argentina Valley, with 419 inhabitants (and unspecified spirits), despite being listed among Italy’s most beautiful villages, is universally known as “the village of witches”.

In Triora, a commune made up of ten hamlets and the largest in the province of Imperia, people have long become accustomed not only to this reputation but have also skillfully used it for tourism purposes.

Thus, on the first Sunday after Fer ragosto, the streets of the an cient village host “Strigoria”, a festival dedicated to witchcraft. However, the highlight is Hal loween, which “is much more than a simple celebration: on the night be tween October 31 and November 1, we celebrate the passage between the world of the living and that of spirits”, as stated on the municipal website.

Triora è terra di antiche storie e misteri. Il piccolo villaggio di età romanica nella Alta Valle Argentina di 419 anime (e imprecisati spiriti), nonostante sia inserito nella classifica dei borghi più belli d’Italia, è universalmente conosciuto anche come “il paese delle streghe”.

Così la prima domenica dopo Ferragosto, tra le vie dell'antico borgo, si svolge “Strigoria” la festa dedicata alla stregoneria. Ma il clou è ad Halloween che “è molto più di una semplice festa, nella notte tra il 31 ottobre e il primo novembre celebriamo il passaggio tra il mondo dei vivi e quello degli spiriti”, come viene annunciato sul sito internet del Comune.

At this point, a dive into his tory is necessary. The witch hunt in Triora began in 1587 and lasted two years.

The town, struck by famine, blamed magical rituals allegedly practiced by more than thirty women accused of being in league with the devil.

The reality, however, was far more earthly: the cause was in fact speculation by some landowners, who were also among the most fervent accusers of the alleged witches. Imprisoned and subjected to torture that led to numerous forced confessions, one accused witch died and another took her own life.

A fief of Genoa (in 1284, during the famous Battle of Meloria, 250 crossbowmen from Triora contributed to the victory over Pisa), after two years of trials the Doge of Genoa asked the Tribunal of the Holy Office to bring the proceedings to an end without carrying out the death sentences requested by the judges. The trial documents and interrogation records are still preserved in the State Archives of Genoa.

Il paese piegato dalla carestia diede la colpa ai riti magici praticati da oltre una trentina di donne accusate di essere in combutta con il Maligno. La realtà era però molto più terrena, la causa era infatti dovuta alla speculazione di alcuni proprietari terrieri, che poi furono anche i più accesi accusatori delle presunte streghe. Imprigionate e sottoposte a torture che portarono a molte confessioni estorte, una presunta strega morì e un’altra si tolse la vita.

Feudo di Genova (nel 1284 nella celebre battaglia della Meloria 250 balestrieri arrivati da Triora contribuirono alla vittoria su Pisa), dopo due anni di processi il Doge del capoluogo ligure chiese al Tribunale del Sant'Uffizio di porre fine al processo senza eseguire le condanne a morte richieste dai giudici. I documenti dei processi ed i verbali di interrogatorio sono tuttora conservati presso l'Archivio di Stato di Genova.

A Triora sono addirittura due i musei dedicati alla stregoneria. Il museo Etnografico e della stregoneria gestito dalla Pro Loco locale e il MES Museo Etnostorico della stregoneria a Palazzo Stella, nel cuore del centro storico,

È dagli anni Ottanta che la vicenda del processo alle streghe viene sapientemente utilizzata e crea una grande cassa di risonanza”, rivela Giacomo Oliva, dinamico e appassionato assessore che, tra le varie deleghe, si occupa anche del turismo.

Insomma, le streghe sono un eccellente testimonial che ogni anno porta a Triora migliaia di turisti.

“Nel Museo civico - spiega Oliva – cerchiamo di offrire ai visitatori un approccio scientifico e storico, abbiamo anche aperto una sezione che prevede una biblioteca e un centro studi. E un paio di anni fa, in collaborazione con l’Università di Bologna, abbiamo organizzato un congresso internazionale con partecipanti di tutto il mondo. C’è stato perfino chi on line è intervenuto dall’Australia”.

Triora has also been recommended for a visit by the French channel Arte TV. “Our historic center”, Oliva says proudly “is a small treasure chest containing precious gems such as the slate portals of noble houses from the 1400s. All’impasto, che ha lievitato per una notte con acqua tiepida e sale, viene aggiunto il giorno successivo altro lievito e farina. La cottura avviene in forno caldo utilizzando la crusca per evitare che le pagnotte, che pesano 500 grammi o un chilo, si attacchino alla base. There is also an interesting gastronomic offer. The fame of Triora bread has long crossed regional borders. Bread has always been an ancient tradition of this village, once known as the granary of the Republic of Genoa. There were several communal ovens, and the famous bread was baked for each family once a week. Today it is produced by the village’s only bakery and is highly sought after. It is made with type 1 flour, buckwheat flour, and bran. The dough, which ferments overnight with warm water and salt, is enriched the next day with more yeast and flour. Baking takes place in a hot oven using bran to prevent the loaves – 500 grams or one kilo – from sticking to the base.

A typical dish of Triora, a cult of so-called “white cuisine” (poor but delicious), is ciapazöi au bruzzu, an ancient quadrangular and irregular pasta made with chestnut flour, served with a sauce of brusso (fermented sheep ricotta) and milk.

An iconic figure of the village is Antonietta Chetta, sometimes called the “good witch”, although she prefers to define herself as a fairy. She is 96 years old and renowned as a great expert in all kinds of herbs. She preserves ancient memory and traditions; until recently, she would open her door to anyone seeking advice.
