FRATELLI ROSSETTI RIEDITA I CULT BRERA E YACHT

FRATELLI ROSSETTI RE-EDITS THE CULT CLASSICS BRERA AND YACHT

Fratelli Rossetti launches “Brera cult”, the project that revamps the maison’s iconic loafer with highly colourful ethnic fabrics. Already at the last edition of Micam, we had the chance to admire the legendary Brera in a fabric, tartan, and tweed version. Now the signature model of Fratelli Rossetti shows all of its versatility by becoming the protagonist of a project that mixes the exclusive artisanal techniques of the Parabiago maison with fabrics inspired by faraway lands. The limited edition capsule collection released on 14 June can be found not only in the Fratelli Rossetti boutiques of Milan, Capri, and Porto Cervo, but also online. Men’s and women’s models are developed in 13 different variants, with the same number of ethnic printed fabrics in flashy colours chosen for the project. Motifs and designs join the trademark tassels bearing the same bold colours. The models are completed by the writing “Brera” embroidered with a string of beads and purposely written backwards for a “mirror” effect that here is confirmed as a hallmark of the capsule collection. The Brera model has an extremely long history going back to 1968, the year in which the label’s founder, Renzo Rossetti, launched the model that takes its name from the historic artistic neighbourhood in Milan, to then go on to become a cult classic.

boot of the brand in a summer version with breathable fabrics, a refreshing membrane and materials with hightech treatments specifically created for the city and summertime. In dayglow and metallic colours, new fabrics like satin and mesh mark the beginning in the evolution of the brand’s unmistakable style, giving life to a ‘no season’ product for all ages. Moon Boot couldn’t have celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in a better way, presenting its fans with a revolutionary summer collection capable of merging the iconic traits of the brand with innovation in the spirit of a contemporary urban style. The 50th anniversary of Moon Boot was the occasion for the Tecnica Group to invest in the reinforcement of the brand, while the change in fashion and lifestyle first seen at the beginning of the year is already bearing results, with Moon Boot’s sales up by +47%, making it the highest performing brand in the group’s portfolio (Tecnica, Blizzard, Nordica, Lowa, and Rollerblade).

MOON BOOT, LIFE ON MARS Cinquant’anni fa sull’onda dell’entusiasmo per il primo allunaggio nasceva Moon Boot.

MOON BOOT, LIFE ON MARS Fifty years ago, in the wake of the excitement surrounding the first moon landing, Moon Boot was born. Today, with preparations being made for the mission to Mars, the brand of the iconic snow boot looks to the sand of the red planet for its inspiration and launches its first summer collection. The brand owned by Tecnica Group, chose Pitti Uomo for the launching of its first summer collection that consists of four models, all very different from one another, which in any case keep intact the unmistakable traits of the brand, from the crisscross fastening to the one-of-a-kind striped stitching of the sole and the band with logo. The models are proposed in eight different colours, with not only dayglow and metallic tones, but also a special version that changes colour when exposed to different conditions. MIZUNO ON MARS The capsule collection “Step on Mars” was presented in a preview at Bibione, on the occasion of the Beach Volley Marathon, the international sports event now in its 23rd edition sponsored by Mizuno. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing, Mizuno would like to go one step further by promising all athletes the possibility of “taking one small step on Mars”. Just like the ambitious plan of NASA to bring man to the Red Planet by the end of 2030, the Japanese brand of shoes would like to encourage all athletes to go one step beyond their expectations. Protagonists of the Step On Mars capsule collection are the Mizuno Wave Momentum and Wave Lightening Z5 expressed in tones that bring to mind the amber red of the surface of Mars. OFFICINE CREATIVE A PITTI: STILE SENZA TEMPO

OFFICINE CREATIVE AT PITTI: A TIMELESS STYLE The new SS 2020 collection presents a sophisticated and modern man, who wears the brand’s history and artisanal expertise with simplicity and authority. Presented in a premiere showing in Florence, the 201 collection tells of a pathway made up by new processes and the revamping of iconic models, which season after season, become bona fide hallmarks of the brand. Leathers that are aged and worn through artisanal processes remain the trademark of the brand, with the introduction of degradé effects on crust and discolorations on natural tones, which are capable of exalting the design of every model. New lines debut and the sneakers collection becomes the protagonist with effects generated by airbrushing. At the same time, there is a strong return to the 90’s in the style and in the contaminations of natural components like the sole in natural rubber and latex. The sneaker world in particular will raise the curtain with the iconic KARMA model and its unmistakable outsole in pure latex.

THE PREMIUM SNEAKER BRAND P448 DEBUTED AT PITTI With 8 million euros in sales recorded in 2018, the brand from Forlì debuted at Pitti Uomo in Florence with its own space in the Urban Panorama section. The rise to the top of the premium Italian sneaker brand P448 continues. In just a few years, it has become one of the most interesting phenomenon in the footwear segment on the global market. Founded in 2014 as an initiative of Marco Samorè and Andrea Curti, and headed by CEO Paolo Griffo together with Wayne Kulkin (Non-Executive Chairman), the brand participated for the first time in the Florentine fair to present its summer collection and a mini capsule collection made from recycled leather with a stand in the Urban Panorama section. At the same time, next to its thousand or so stores located around the globe, it gets ready to open two new flagship stores, with the first to open next year in London, followed by a second opening in Milan in 2020, thanks to a strong growth trend that saw its total sales rise by +40% in 2018, for a total of 8 million euros.

to, il made in Europe e in particolare il made in Italy sperimenteranno una propulsione nelle esportazioni.

MERCOSUR OPENS UP TO FOOTWEAR The signing of the trade agreement between the EU and Mercosur on 28 June wraps up years of negotiations, opening up important business opportunities for many sectors, including that of footwear.

order of the day, the EU-Mercosur agreement sends a strong message in countertrend to this scenario: “I choose my words with great care when I say that this is a historic moment – declared Jean-Claude Junker, President of the European Commission – In the midst of international trade tensions, today we are sending a strong message, together with our partners of Mercosur, that we support business relations that are based on rules. Through this pact, the countries of Mercosur decided to open their markets up to Europe. This is obviously great news for businesses, workers, and the economies on both sides of the Atlantic, allowing for a savings of over 4 billion euros in customs duties annually, and making it the biggest trade agreement every signed by the EU”. “Today’s agreement brings Europe and South America together in a spirit of cooperation and openness – adds Cecilia Malmström – Coming into force, it will create a market of 780 million people, offering enormous opportunities to European businesses and workers in countries with which we have strong historic ties and where the markets have more or less remained closed to us up until now. The agreement will allow European companies to save around 4 billion euros in duties – four times more than what is saved in the agreement signed with Japan – giving them an advantage over competitors in other parts of the world. It also creates high standards and establishes a strong connection to shared themes like the environment and workers’ rights, while reinforcing at the same time the commitment to sustainable development as called for in the Paris Agreement for example”.

After years of negotiations, finally on 28 June, the free trade agreement between the EU and Mercosur was signed, creating a market made up by 780 million people and allowing companies doing business on both sides to save 4 billion euros in duties. Among the sectors that will benefit the most from the agreement is European footwear which, up until today, paid duties of around 35% for its entry into South America, Now, even if it is not the very best time for international trade, the expectation is that in the wake of the agreement, Made in Europe and especially Made in Italy will experience a great boost in their exports. The EU is the first to sign a business pact with Mercosur, a trade bloc made up by Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, with close political and economic ties cemented between the EU and the countries of Mercosur. In addition to the commercial code and the opening up to markets with great potential, the agreement implements a series of regulations regarding shared standards of safety for consumers, environmental sustainability, and workers’ rights, as well as complete compliance with the Paris Agreement on climate change. During a moment when trade tensions and tariff wars are the

With a growth over the last ten years (2008-2018) in both quantities (58%) and values (85%), and the gradual elimination of duties in the years to come, exports towards Mercosur will experience a new uptrend. “The trade agreement with Mercosur is an extremely positive result for the Italian footwear manufacturing industry, which for years, has made it a priority in Brussels – commented the new President of Assocalzaturifici, Siro Badon. – I would like to thank those who over the years have represented us in this long and difficult negotiation. Technology and craftsmanship merge to create models that value imperfection and offer a more profound post-purchase connection. Shoes associate traditional processes with avant-garde tools and materials of the highest quality. The chromatic palette presents pastel colours next to the warm tones of brown in contrast to metallic nuances.

EMPOWER UP WOMAN

Optimistic and youthful, it expresses a new energy and change, which is driven by new generations and by groups that did not previously have a voice. The shoes combine playful and eco-sustainable elements in mostly summer-oriented capsule collections, with over-size dimensions and kitsch decorations. The palette alternates bright and acid-washed tones.

EMPOWER UP MAN

A practical approach that celebrates the new voices and the participation of consumers in the design process. Punk influences are presented in contrast to beach looks. The shoes feature luxury-processed materials and details inspired by modern African culture. The palette is filled with vivid and bright colours, with a faded quality that recalls Eighties vintage models.

A RIVA DEL GARDA, DAL 15 AL 18 GIUGNO 2019

EXPO RIVA SCHUH:

Materiali naturali come sughero, paglia, tessuti organici.

AT RIVA DEL GARDA, FROM 15 TO 18 JUNE 2019

EXPO RIVA SCHUH: ACCESSORIES AND SUSTAINABILITY AT THE CENTRE OF THE 92ND EDITION The 92nd edition of Expo Riva Schuh, from 15 to 18 June at Riva del Garda, was characterised by two leading themes: the debut of Gardabags in the trade fair district and sustainability. From one end, at Expo Riva Schuh, there were 1,462 exhibitors, of which 1,196 were foreign, while from the other end, the 83 exhibitors of Gardabags allowed for the creation of an extraordinary international business hub for the volume segment, with an integrated offering of footwear and accessories that attracted a public of 12,000 visitors from over 100 countries. The selection included the world’s most important manufacturing hubs, from China and India, which at the fair also exhibited in the dedicated areas of Top China Fashion and India Hall, to Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Germany, and Turkey. A genuinely complete overview of the very best international volume production appreciated by buyers of large distribution chains, retailers, fast fashion, e-commerce, and private labels in search of productive partnerships. Instead, the other leading theme, that of sustainability, was at the centre of the opening talk “The sustainability of the fashion system supply chain”, which saw the participation of representatives of the organisation and fashion industry experts. At the same time, General Manager Giovanni Laezza emphasised how Riva del Garda Fierecongressi is the only Italian trade fair body with ISO 20121 certification for Sustainable Event Management Systems, while the case histories of the fashion industry demonstrated how sustainability could become an asset of competitiveness for businesses. Lars Doemer, Director and co-founder of GoBlu, an international service company and sustainability accelerator for companies in the fashion system, illustrated in his speech that the key word for sustainability is “transparency, within a coherent path of awareness that leads to growth with one’s own supply chain”.

Sustainability was also the focus of many collections: an increasing number of brands proposed low environmental impact models obtained from natural or recycled materials. Among the proposals was footwear with organic cotton uppers and materials like recycled rubber or natural rubber, along with vegan and certified footwear with eco-friendly dyes. In terms of trends, for women, leading the way were beach style slippers with a croco texture and glitter details, python patterns, and fluorescent colours, for a look in full 90’s revival. At the same time, there were big heels with precious details, and designs and patterns making the difference. Natural materials like cork, straw, and organic fabrics also played an important role. For him, instead, returning in vogue were moccasins and lace-ups, in a relaxed and original style, with strong colours, quality leathers, and natural materials. Plus, sneakers in technical and city versions, also with outsoles in straw. In kids’ footwear, there was an alternation between smart shoes, playful and fantastical elements, and sneaker socks and platforms in bright and vivid colours. There were then sporty-chic models, with sandals embellished by designs and decorations like bows and glitter. The collections once again took advantage of the perfect timing of the event, which allowed businesses to put their proposals to the test and fine-tune them in accordance with feedback received from clientele, while customers were given the chance to place their orders early on in the season. The next edition of Expo Riva Schuh will be held in January 2020, from the 11th to the 14th, with the presentation of the winter collections.

“Once again, with our opening debate, we have focused on a strategic asset for the sector, trying to give our public of companies, buyers and professionals concrete tools to guide their business choices for the future. Today, sustainability is a real opportunity to protect the planet, but it is also an indispensable tool for being competitive at an international level. With the Riva del Garda Fierecongressi company, we are also committed to improving ourselves in order to reduce our impact on the environment and to promote a culture of sustainability together with our stakeholders”.

“Increasingly international and innovative: the positive results registered during the 92nd edition of the fair – 1,462 exhibitors and 12,000 visitors – highlight the stability of the remarkable model, which is liked by sector professionals and is capable of still replying today to the instability of buyer visiting dynamics. Nevertheless, in a competitive context like fashion, it’s important to know how to quickly interpret the data supplied by the market, applying cutting-edge marketing strategies and consolidating actions aimed at increasing the quality of the offering, favouring a kind of tailor-made business and interpreting changes in the supply chain. Expo Riva Schuh’s drive towards the future has resulted in successful initiatives like Gardabags, which in June, made its debut inside the Exhibition Centre of Riva del Garda, and Around the World, which will soon bring us to Russia and Croatia to speak of footwear, leather goods, and socially responsible actions for the survival of the planet and the sector”.

I

THE SUSTAINABLE FASHION SYSTEM SUPPLY CHAIN IS MORE COMPETITIVE Sustainability as an opportunity and lever for competitiveness: this is what emerged from the opening talk of Expo Riva Schuh, which addressed an issue that is more relevant than ever before for the sector: “The sustainability of the fashion system supply chain”. The debate took its cue from the green and virtuous example set by Riva del Garda Fierecongressi, the only Italian trade fair body with ISO 20121 certification for Sustainable Event Management Systems, which becomes a call to action for the players involved in its projects. “Today, sustainability

is a real opportunity to protect the planet, but it is also an indispensable tool for being competitive at an international level – declared Giovanni Laezza, General Manager of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi – In response to this market need, we are working together with our stakeholders to build a social ethic that, during the next editions of Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags, will lead us to consciously trace and manage all

the waste produced during the event, with the aim of having at least 85% of it recycled by 2020”. In fashion, instead, sustainability is becoming a critical factor in the wake of campaigns promoted by Ong like Greenpeace’s Detox, as well as in reaction to tragic events like that of Rana Plaza. Global communication, social networks and greater awareness of consumers accordingly push businesses of the fashion system supply chain to undertake more sustainable pathways. This is what Lars Doemer, Director and co-founder of GoBlu, an international service company and sustainability accelerator for companies in the fashion system, illustrated in his speech. “The key word is transparency – he declared

– understood not only as a commitment to provide information, but as an active process to grow your business through the knowledge and constant exchange of information with the network of suppliers and partners”. It is therefore a coherent path of awareness that leads to a growth together with individual supply chains, in the commitment to ensure a product that respects the environment and people, as some case studies illustrated by Doemer have already done. The choice is becoming more common and is embraced by a growing number of companies and brands: Cinzia Malvini, lifestyle and fashion journalist at La7 and Book, and moderator of the event, presented some examples before introducing Carla Costa, Head

Our goal is to carry on working to make the event a laboratory of creativity and inspiration for professionals and operators in the sector”. The Special Guest of Gardabags, style expert and TV icon Carla Gozzi, was in fact the protagonist of the Talk Show conducted by journalist Cinzia Malvini entitled “Bags Fashion

Trends”, which showcased the up-and-coming bag and accessory trends for SS 2020. Carla Gozzi said she was particularly impressed with the great variety of models, shapes, and colours presented at the fair. The bag, she recalled, must always be in proportion to the height and physique of the wearer in order to achieve perfect harmony, but it is also an expression of the wearer’s personality. “This is the reason it is so difficult to ask a woman to separate herself from her bag!” The style expert also underlined how today in urban contexts and in everyday life, matching looks are no

longer essential like they were in the past but remain a ‘must’ when it comes to more elegant, formal, and special occasions. At the fair, also the issue of sustainability was under the spotlight, a theme that affects the entire world of fashion and that is increasingly important and heartfelt by new generations. At Gardabags, the protagonists included natural and poor materials like rattan and straw, and inserts like shells and stones, while different brands proposed low environmental impact models in their collections obtained from natural or recycled materials.

Adidas Parley Ocean Plastic

Pepe-Jeans

More than the umpteenth fashion trend that conquers, but then quickly moves on, while leaving little or no trace behind: by now there has been a bona fide change in awareness and in the relationship with fashion itself. The green universe is responsible for generating a sales revenue that is steadily on the rise, while respecting mankind and the environment. We are naturally speaking of sustainable, green, and eco-friendly fashion, because a growing number of consumers is no longer satisfied with having a beautiful, trendy, and quality-made garment or accessory. Increasingly, the demand is for it to also be more durable over time and, even better yet, non-polluting for the environment and with an eye to individual safety, because safeguarding the environment’s future is akin to ensuring there is a future for mankind. An interesting project in this direction, which is fresh from its debut on the market (February 2019), is WAO, with its slogan ‘The eco effect’: shoes that are perfect for all seasons and exclusively made from natural resources like wood fibre and hemp for the upper, coconut fibre and cork for the insole, and hemp and organic cotton for the lining and laces. Moreover, vegetable dyes, which once needed to be disposed of, now return to the environment from which they were created: the sole is 80% certified biodegradable and does not leave behind any kind of phytotoxicity. The company is also committed to collecting its used shoes, separating the parts for compost from those for unsorted waste, and transforming the

183

organic materials into feed for worms. If all this wasn’t enough, WAO donates 4% of its sales to environmental institutions or animal protection centres. Among the newly launched projects there is also the one designed by Pepe Jeans London, which for the coming 2019/20 winter, with its No. 22 capsule collection, presented the unisex sneaker made by using an application of titanium dioxide (TiO2) transparent film which – as it is scientifically known – helps to eliminate 80 percent of nitrogen oxide (the gas responsible for pollution and the greenhouse effect) by simply coming into contact with UVA rays. At the same time, several leading names from the universe of sports footwear have launched important eco-friendly projects, starting from Adidas, which in 2017, sold one million pairs of shoes made using plastic collected from

the world’s oceans: the Ocean Plastic Trainer is the first pair of shoes worldwide to have an upper made using a plastic filament derived from recycled plastic Ocean waste. Last year, Adidas also launched its biodegradable Futurecraft Biofabric shoes on the market, which dissolve in 36 hours, thanks to the use of a fabric made from an innovative material featuring the same proteins as the one used by spiders in their webs. Especially interesting among the student projects, was the one presented last April during the American Festival of Science and Engineering in Washington, by two students from the fashion and apparel department in the University of Delaware: a sole made from mycelium, the vegetative body of mushrooms. Mycelium was grown in a soft mould, which was shaped like a sole, to then be subsequently covered by Vegan “leather” for greater resistance.

However, it’s not just the brands of sports footwear to have invested resources and energy in the creation of green products. There is Loriblu, for example, which at Micam this past February presented its Naturella shoe made using an innovative leather that allows it to be directly disposed of in organic waste: a luxury shoe, which, however, is hand painted and can be personalised. Thus, it’s no surprise “Year in Fashion 2018” – the annual report compiled by fashion search engine ‘Lyst’ – declared that Veja, the brand of eco-friendly minimalist sneakers with a retro fashion, was in first place among the most popular brands on Instagram based on number of searches, mentions, and tags. Founded in 2005, Veja was soon a big hit in the market, using only raw materials coming from organic and ecological farms, without the use of hazardous chemicals or polluting processes. Among its materials, we find organic cotton, silk, but also innovative fabrics like B-mesh made from recycled plastic bottles. Next to Veja, the most successful green footwear brands include the ecological and vegan shoes of Good Guys. Created in 2011 by designer and artist Marion Hanania, they are produced in Portugal, Spain and Italy in accordance with fair and equal trade practices, and are mainly made from microfibers or canvas for the uppers and natural rubber or wood for the soles. However, green footwear is not necessarily the equivalent of Vegan footwear, as demonstrated by another trendsetting brand, Feit, which was founded in 2004 as an ‘evolution of consumerism that from volumes and excesses moves toward quality and sustainability’. Feit shoes are in fact made from natural materials, including vegetable-tanned cowhides as a by-product of the meat industry, which are processed and stitched by hand for limited edition lines of footwear. Green is also synonymous with recycling, and it is precisely patchwork art, for example, that is at the heart of the young Italian brand Ebarrito, which creates shoes and bags by upcycling discards from large-scale retail trade. There is accordingly a distancing from the fashion system’s ‘use and throw away’ mentality in order to create – starting from what was thrown away – a new and unique product, which is personalised and conceived to last over time. Confirming the growing awareness of eco-friendly consumption and the increasing importance of recycling is MoRA, the first Italian museum dedicated to the art of recycling, which was founded in Rome this past December, with journalist and environmentalist Mariaceleste de Martino at the head of it. Here, among the pieces on show, we also find footwear decorated with Lego bricks and a bag made from the revamping of a power cable. Interesting in this context are also the circular economy projects realised in Italy in recent years, which include for example, “Your shoes at the centre”, an initiative first launched this past March in Emilia Romagna aimed at encouraging behaviours that protect the environment and avoid waste. Thus, from different cities throughout Emilia Romagna, used sneakers and flip-flops in rubber were collected and, once recycled; they contributed to creating the protective surface in

185

Nat-2

the playground of Amandola, a Marches city hit by the 2016 earthquake. The same recycling principle is also at the heart of the sneakers produced by Womsh, the “word of mouth shoes” brand founded in 2011, which is based on a sales philosophy of word of mouth, where the brand’s clientele is asked to bring their used shoes back to the store once they are done with them, so they can then be used to construct playground surfaces for children. The world of ‘green’ footwear, however, also leads us to discover curious alternatives to leather and synthetics, like, for example, Pinatex, created by Spanish-born designer Carmen Hijosa, which is obtained from the long fibres of the pineapple and used in luxury brands like Mercer Amsterdam, Bourgeois Boheme, Nae and Hugo Boss. Among the brands that have made experimentation with new materials and recycling their very own mission and success is included the German brand, Nat-2, which proposes a line of sneakers (Nat-2 x Zvunder) made from the fungus of broadleaved forests that is matched with a cotton cloth made from recycled plastic bottles and completed by a cork insole and natural rubber sole. The vintage look of the leather-mushroom is accompanied by a pleasant feeling of softness, allowing the materials to be used from both sides, so that it is possible to create differing striking-looking combinations. The brand also proposes lines of footwear with 50% of the shoe’s surface covered by recycled coffee (coffee beans and coffee plants), but also by genuine recycled hay, grass and flowers, or even wood fibre and real stone! Another innovative brand is the English Po-Zu, which presented its first 100% Vegan FW19 collection made from apple skins, coconut shells, cork, rubberised cotton, and pineapple leaves. In this journey dedicated to the discovery of ethical and responsible footwear, special attention is also paid to productions techniques aimed at reducing waste. As is the case of Rothy’s, the company founded in 2016 that has known exponential growth with sales in 2018 equal to $140 million, and with a portfolio of VIP customers that includes the likes of Princess Meghan Markle. Specialised in the production of footwear made from recycled plastic, Rothy’s uses a 3d knitwear technique that allows it to reduce material waste to only 6%, compared to the 37% in waste generated by traditional production methods, thanks to an absence of stitching, which also guarantees a perfect fit.

Come funziona?

The shoe becomes increasingly smart: the leading companies dedicated to athletic wear open the way for integrating new technologies into trainers, offering their customers new experiences for improving athletic performance or simply interacting with the brand. augmented reality, always through a smartphone APP, offering the possibility to access many contents, from information on how the shoe is constructed to games. How does it work? Just use your cell phone to scan one of the many QR 2D codes present on the shoe and you will immediately be able to activate a number of different functions. These new technologies are even implemented in the most inexpensive products, like Amazfit Antelope Light sport shoes from the Chinese producer Xiaomi, which, thanks to the Muja Smart Core chip, records the performance of the user, while also acting as a pedometer and calculating calories burned. This possibility is also offered by the American Under Armour shoe that transmits via Bluetooth the speed and pace, and distance and number of steps taken to the MapMyRun APP, offering the runner information important to improving overall performance. This, however, is just the beginning: smart technologies open up the way to an infinite number of possibilities. What is certain is that it is a business that has captured the attention of many: it is not by chance that even giants like Samsung, which has passed from phones to shoes, already wanted to ‘get their foot in the door’ in 2018, thanks to the integration of sensors that record physical activity and the physiological parameters of the athlete, with the possibility of adapting the functions to the habits of the user UNDER ARMOUR SPEEDFORM through AI.

Among the devices being used in trainers are not only APPs that allow the amount of physical activity and calories burned to be calculated, but also self-lacing and self-adjusting devices, which guarantee a perfect fit in accordance with the kind of physical activity, including functions that engage the wearer with information and games. Let’s take a closer look at a few examples. First, is the Nike Adapt BB that automatically laces itself through an APP for smartphones. Thanks to Electric Adaptable Reaction Lacing, a small and lightweight engine inserted into the midsole of the shoe allows your shoes to be fastened wirelessly: with the APP, it’s possible to save your favourite fastening parameters and reproduce them with just one click.

BEAUTY BRINGS MICAM TO PARADISE Dante’s allegorical journey, which first began three years ago, comes full circle and MICAM, from 15 to 18 September at FieraMilano, accompanies us to the final “celestial gates of paradise, where Beauty reigns supreme”. Beauty is the very essence of the 2000 collections for SS2020 that will be the protagonists of the Milan fair in the worlds of Luxury, Contemporary, Cosmopolitan, Active and iKids. A complete selection, which, as is true every year, is capable of attracting over 44 thousand mid to high-end buyers and retailers coming from all over the world. As usual, the exhibition itinerary will revolve around the squares: the Fashion Square will be the fulcrum of the fashion catwalks, fashion seminars, and talk shows. It will also host the MICAM Gala with the granting of the prestigious MICAM Awards. There will then be Man Square, the point of reference for men with its Proraso barbershop and Shoeshine stations, flanked by designer proposals in men’s shoes. Next, the Style Square, with its designer bar and live artistic performances will shine the spotlight on the style of the designer labels surrounding it. Fun Square will be the designated area for fun with makeup and hairstyling stations, an LED wall, and virtual reality stations, while looking out over it will be the proposals of Emerging Designer returning to inspire visitors with their alternative collections. The iKIDSQUARE will offer relaxation and dining to visitors in a playground created from the letters of the word KIDS, while hosting artists who will play around with the codes of children’s shoes.

Brand new to this edition will be the debut of a new area completely dedicated to athletic and outdoor footwear: the Players District. A proposal that would like to reply to the great commercial success of the sneaker. With such a vast offering in store, what do the organisers expect? “We expect a completely sold out show, because during what is an unfavourable economic moment, it is even more important to find a fixed point of reference. And MICAM is the place where exhibiting companies and buyers, who are increasingly subjected to a fluid context, can find some certainties. – declares Tommaso Cancellara, CEO of Micam - The people who come to MICAM come not only to buy, but to also increasingly inform themselves about future trends. It is not by chance that our seminars at the fair are almost always sold out. MICAM, just like other sector fairs, is not simply a business platform, but also a place where it is possible to understand in which direction the market is moving. It is an event with 1400 exhibitors and 45 thousand visitors, as well as an important observatory”.

SUMMER 2020 AT GALLERY SHOES Increasingly the platform of reference for German and international footwear operators, the Düsseldorf fair celebrates its fifth edition from 1 to 3 September 2019 with all spaces fully booked and the debut of a new location for Kids, along with the live fashion shows of ‘Gallery Shoes Selected Show’. Starting off on the right foot is the fifth edition of Galley Shoes, the event dedicated to footwear and accessories that will be kicked off on 1 September in the striking former industrial location of Areal Böhler in Düsseldorf: in fact, all the exhibition space seems to have been fully booked, with over 550 brands and around 400 exhibitors, thus confirming the complete trust sector operators place in this event as a fundamental opportunity for gathering new ideas and information on the new fashion season and doing business, above all, in the German market, Many innovations will characterise this fifth edition, as a sign of the maturity achieved by the event which is now at full operating speed: “To make the most of the Areal Böhler’s structures, we have further optimised the hall plans” – declared Ulrike Kähler, Managing Director of Igedo Company and responsible Project Director. In September, in fact, visitors will find the new Entrance I in the ‘Altes Kesselhaus’ in combination with the main catering area. An open forecourt is being created at Entrance II, which will serve as a meeting point, creating a direct link to the ‘Alte Schmiedehallen’. Additionally, via Entrance III, visitors will be able to reach the ‘Halle am Wasserturm’, the ‘Kaltstahlhalle’ and the ‘Alte Schmiedehallen’. Another important change regards the area dedicated to kids’ footwear, which with each new edition has taken on a growing importance in the Show, with around forty companies present in the new tensile structure located near Entrance I and the large catering area. At the same time, the addition of this new pavilion will create more space for the Contemporary and Urban sections. The Comfort area will also be the focus of important changes, with

a new separate entrance that will further emphasise the presence of this segment at the Areal Böhler. Moreover, Gallery Shoes is increasingly focused on live fashion shows, which alongside the Marc Cain brand will see other brands as the protagonists in presenting their new products for SS2020 in the new “Gallery SHOES Selected Show”.
