rOSSiGnOl x pHilippE MOdEl, Tra ciTy E MOunTain

Grisport introduces ranGer Grisport continues the celebrations for its first 40 years of activity by launching a new line of trekking booties at ISPO: the Ranger line. Developed after a long series of tests and trials undertaken by the R&D department of the company, Ranger booties offer all hikers a high-end product combining performance with a special comfort. Among the devices of the new line, we find special padding for the feet with an anti-tendonitis relief configuration, a padded shoe tongue, breathable lining, ankle-height adjustable metal hooks for improved sliding of the strings, an ergonomic shape, special heel and ankle support in order to stabilise and protect the feet while walking, a waterproof structure and the Vibram sole with large, self-cleaning nails. What more could you ask for… Thanks to Grisport, trekking is safe and comfortable.

rossiGnol for philippe Model, between city and Mountain Philippe Model, leading French brand in the high-end sneaker segment, chose the international stage of Pitti Immagine Uomo to launch its new collaboration with Rossignol, the iconic French brand internationally renowned for its mountain sport lifestyle proposals. The Rossignol for Philippe Model Paris capsule collection was introduced in the Garden of Villa Vittoria, right outside the doors of the Fortezza da Basso, in a futuristic igloo-shaped installation. Inside, an allround projection led the visitor to experience an unusual journey, from the Alps to the rooftops of Paris. In the middle of the installation, a sole sneaker model combines Italian artisanal skills with the French taste for aesthetics. Thus, a modern spirit with the vintage touch of Philippe Model is enriched by the technical details characterising Rossignol: the running model features a light sole perfect for a dynamic city life, while both upper and high-tech fastening are borrowed from mountain sports. The fastening system and the padded shoe collar recall the inner shoe of ski-boots, proposing the same comfort and technical advantages.

valleverde ends 2018 with 19 Million euros in sales revenue

atlantic stars: a new distributive Map and store in Milan

Founded in the Seventies and taken over by Elvio Silvagni’s Silver1 in 2015, Valleverde announces the success of its children’s line launched with the SS 2019 and ends 2018 with a turnover of 19 million euros, which is one million euro more than what was forecasted. MICAM confirms the validity of the kids’ project undertaken with the SS19 season, which immediately started off on the right foot. Now, the line is exceeding even the most positive forecasts made by the Valleverde brand, thus confirming the great possibilities offered up by the project. Distributed in over 400 stores where the brand’s men’s and women’s lines are already present, Valleverde Kid is also distributed by a select series of specialised stores. At the same time, the rest of the collection is meeting up with positive feedback: while awaiting the opening of its flagship store in Switzerland that will inaugurate the brand’s retail project abroad, the head of the brand announces that its strategy will however remain focused on small to mid-sized wholesale channels, where there is specialised personnel that can explain the advantages of the brand. With a production of 500 thousand pairs and distribution in 1,100 stores, for the moment, Valleverde sells 95% of its production in Italy. The start of its foreign retail plans for expansion could change this figure.

After the private equity firm Alcedo acquired a 60% stake in Atlantic Stars, the brand’s manager, Luigi Rebellato, will now focus on redesigning the distributive map of the brand. Having grown at an overwhelming rate over the last 4 years, arriving at a sales revenue of 17 million euros, Atlantic Stars felt the need to redefine not only its strategies of distribution, but also its production and design. Accordingly, it decided to entrust a new manager coming from leading realities like Diadora, Lotto and the Benetton Group with this important task. Currently, Atlantic Star sells 70% of its goods in Italy through 500 wholesale customers while abroad it is especially strong in Japan, with its Tokyo store having recently been joined by another store in Osaka. In Asia, Mr. Rebellato will accordingly try to create interest in the markets of South Korea and China, where the brand is not yet present. In Europe, instead, new commercial agreements will bring the brand to the malls of Printemps and Galerie Lafayette, while in Italy, in Milan, a new store will be opened between 2020 and 2021.

The setting of the exhibition-anniversary is Pitti Uomo 95: through moving images, plastic works, and photographs, “It Plays Something Else” interprets the concept of speed and dynamism, while underlining at the same time technological innovation, manufacturing, and the Made in Italy spirit of Diadora footwear. The exhibition alternates the works of different artists who use various expressive languages: Ducati Monroe (Diego Perrone and Andrea Sala), Maisie Cousins, GabberEleganza, Invernomuto and Patrick Tuttofuoco: “Art is not so different from sports – declared Enrico Moretti Polegato, President and CEO of the brand to the press – both communicate a story, an emotion. Additionally, different elements from this exhibition speak of sports. The fact that different artists participated underlines the concept of teamwork present in art, as is also true of sports and companies. Many interpretations allowed for a complete storytelling, under the leading theme of speed”. In 2018, Diadora ended the year with a consolidated turnover of 164.2 million euros, for an increase from the 162 million euros registered in 2017. Italy is the most important market, representing 60% of the brand’s sales revenue, with sales following a steady upward trend. Italy is also the market that is the protagonist of the brand’s productive reshoring, currently accounting for 7% of the production, which is on the rise. Abroad, the most promising markets are the USA and China, where Diadora recently opened an e-commerce channel on the Tmall platform.

XTI: amOrE a prima viSTa!

XTi: lOvE aT FirST SigHT! The Spanish brand of youthful footwear presents its new proposals for winter. Does love at first sight for an accessory really exist? There is no research, study or university that will probably ever be able to verify if this statement is true or not, but XTI is sure that when a woman finally meets the ankle boot she was searching for, for many months, the adrenaline is as instantaneous as love at first sight! Striking, sinuous, capable of exalting feminine beauty with each step taken, while also warmly embracing the wearer, the XTI ankle boot is a kind of instant crush, a whirlwind of emotions that says a lot more than an army of data and scientific studies could ever say. The thrill of choosing one of the colours proposed in the collection, and the flights of fantasy regarding the possible looks and combinations, is so strong as to lead you to believe that the entire wardrobe exclusively depends only on him: YOUR favourite ankle boot. To verify if all this emotional upheaval is only temporary or true love, you need only ask if it’s possible to wear it all the time and in combination with any item, from skinny pants to a dress. If the answer to this question is yes, then it is in fact true love!

GallEry SHOES, Fully bOOkEd For the fourth time in a row, Gallery Shoes gets ready to kick off its spring edition, from 10 to 12 March 2019 at the Areal Böler in Düsseldorf, with all spaces fully booked and a greater number of Italian brands. It is clear that the formula of Gallery Shoes is rewarding: a continuous renewal of the spaces and selection, and of the inspirational themes and information, which come together to create a unique marketplace that goes well beyond a simple platform of presentation for the new collections. “The event confirmed its dynamic progress with extremely positive developments – commented Igedo Managing Director and Gallery Shoes Project Director Ulrike Kähler – With the professional visitors in mind, there are new, exciting brands including firm favourites like Clarks, but also plenty of exciting newcomers like EYS, BNSM (Basics Natural Spirit in Motion) and Mythoo. We are also allocating, for example, the ‘Halle am Wasserturm’ to around 40 brands including Cinque Shoes and Colmar Footwear, as well as to 15 new brands such as Alba Moda, Manas and Womsh”. Among the 350-plus exhibitors, representing 500 brands, there will also be a greater number of Italian exhibitors, thus reconfirming the strong interest expressed by the German market in Made in Italy. At the same time, all the areas of the show will see new arrivals. The Premium zone dedicated to high design

content will propose the style of the Italian brands Angelo Bervicato, Beyond, Cheville and Womsh; the Danish understatement of Et Al and the sensitivity of Royal RepubliQ; the western boots of Mexicana from France and the classic craft workmanship of Lottusse from Spain. The Urban zone will be showcasing international brands like Supertrash from Holland, Tiurai from Italy, and Refresh from Spain, alongside young trends and unconventional street styles. In the Contemporary Zone, we will find Angulus, which has been making handmade shoes in Denmark since 1904; Spanish brands like Johnny Bulls and Xti, French creations by Les Tropeziennes, Mexx from the Netherlands, and the German lifestyle brand Bugatti Woman. Many new additions will also join the Comfort Zone, with the ‘Alte Federnfabrik’ and ‘Glühofenhalle’ seeing the debut of brands like Aetrex and Samuel Hubbard from the USA, Barth Schuhbandl from Germany, Living Kitzbühel from Austria, TDO Therapy from Turkey and Tumar Art from Kyrgyzstan… Fully booked once again is the Kids’ area in the ‘Edelstahlhalle’, which for the first time will see the presentation of collections by brands like Mabelo and Playhoes from Germany, Tomm Shoes from Poland and Vicco from Turkey. A truly international selection that will not fail to inspire the over 9,500 professional visitors expected at Düsseldorf. Plus, revolving around the show will be an accompanying line-up of events, presentations and discussions that will contribute to the appeal of the show, reconfirming it as a meeting place between international producers and buyers coming from all over Europe. Among the focuses of this edition will be included sustainability, which will be the protagonist in the presentation by Oeko-Tex, while also playing an important role in the granting of the Junior Award promoted by HDS-L (the Federal Association of the German Footwear and Leather Goods Industry), which awards the most innovative projects in the production of shoes, with this year’s theme based on ‘Sport meets fashion – open minded’. The other theme is digitalisation, which will allow for a more ‘connected’ experience at the fair, thanks to new digital tools at the main entrances of “Alte Schmiedehallen”, “Blankstahlhalle” and “Edelstalhlhalle”, tools that will even be available inside the shuttles and at the shuttle stops. The last focus is naturally dedicated to fashion, with the forecasts of MODEUROP, the official platform of the DSI-German Shoe Institute, and the calendar of fashion shows taking place at “Kaltstahlhalle” , where the participation of Marc Cain, Högl, Peter Kaiser and the Italian Tosca Blu have already been confirmed. Many contents for an edition that promises to be dynamic: all that’s left to do is to await the market’s confirmation.

Luigi Di Maio

L’On. Luigi Di Maio e Annarita Pilotti

miCam, a TurnOuT OF OvEr 43 THOuSand viSiTOrS An increase in Italian visitors and decrease in foreign numbers: the 87th edition of MICAM ends with over 43 thousands visitors, for results in line with the February 2018 edition.

Italian footwear manufacturing industry, asking for a reduction of the tax wedge and a cutback on the costs of labour, two issues that are slowing down the growth of Italian companies. Among new and reconfirmed proposals, the event rotated around the main segment areas, like the Fashion Square, which hosted fashion shows and seminars, including the one dedicated to “Social media and e-commerce: a Chinese marriage” with the participation of the three top Chinese influencers, and the one dedicated to Sustainability. It was then the stage of the musical “Priscilla – Queen of the Desert” held during the MICAM Gala Night, which also hosted the granting of the MICAM Awards. At the same time, the Men Square re-proposed its harmonious collaboration with the Proraso Barber Shop, while the Style Square featured the live painting of Johannes Stoetter, who reproduced trendy footwear styles on the bodies of models. There was then the Fun Square with its hairstyling and makeup stations, flanked by the Emerging Designers area for international creative talents. The 87th edition of MICAM also hosted the preview of PLUG-Mi – The Sneakers Culture Experience in the former MICAM Square area in Hall 7: the project presented during a press conference conducted by journalist Guido Bagatta will be the protagonist of the September 2019 edition of MICAM. Created in collaboration with Campus Fandango Club, PLUG-Mi looks to the overseas Sneaker Conventions for its inspiration, while reserving a special focus for Millennials: a proposal that has aroused great interest with high expectations since its debut. Among the events hosted in the area was also the lively DJ set of Bobo Vieri. So, once again, MICAM has successfully combined art, creativity, innovation, and glam. The next edition of MICAM will see the end of Dante’s journey, with the event’s arrival in Paradise: the virtue of Beauty will serve as the title-theme of the 88th edition to be held from 15 to 18 September at FieraMilano.

Visitors at MICAM were numerous, but attended the fair for fewer days than in the past and this was especially true of foreign buyers. In any case, companies declared themselves satisfied with the overall outcome of the event, above all in the Luxury and Contemporary areas, which had two very successful days right at the start of the fair. Among the foreign visitors in attendance, the United States (+35%) and Canada (+38%) led the way, demonstrating a greater interest in Italian and European products. In terms of Europe, instead, Russia, France, and Germany were characterised by a downtrend, while Spain’s numbers rose by +10%. “We’re ending the 87th edition of MICAM with the understanding that our event has been transformed into an incubator of styles and trends, always in line with the market’s demands. Not only an essential business platform for companies, it is also a trendsetter, providing an overview of new consumer trends – declared Annarita Pilotti, President of Assocalzaturifici, the association responsible for the event’s organisation – Today, at MICAM, the very best offering of international footwear finds room, thanks to the presence of prestigious producers coming from five continents: one thousand different facets of elegance and quality are made available to international buyers who prefer a trendy product in the mid-range”. In addition to the FW 2019-20 footwear collections, the fair was also an important stage for various initiatives and the launchings of projects and events. It hosted the institutional visit of Deputy Prime Minister Luigi Di Maio at its inauguration, an occasion during which Annarita Pilotti spoke on behalf of the

The sector of Italian fashion holds it head up high with pride and tells the unique story of its industry and its supply chain in the book: “The State of Fashion” produced by Confindustria Moda. It is considered one of the leading Italian industries, thanks to its vocation for exports. Plus, it is the system with the highest added value in Europe: the Italian textile-fashion industry is a leader on a number of fronts, but still struggles to introduce and represent itself in the right way. This is how a book like “The State of Fashion” can make all the difference: “it is a way of raising awareness about who we are and where we are going – explains Claudio Marenzi, President of Confindustria Moda in the book’s preface – For a long time, fashion was exclusively seen in terms of glamour…. Our highly skilled hands, capable of designing the most beautiful garments and accessories around the world were always an afterthought, while the world envied us for what we were capable of doing, sometimes even imitating us”. Behind the clothing proposals seen on the runway, a pair of exquisite sandals, or a pair of eyeglasses, there is an entire supply chain of great value that has difficulty in presenting itself: it is journalist Paola Bottelli, in fact, who has attempted to tell this story with her contribution to the publication, “The unique value of the supply chain”, explaining above all to Millennials what a fashion back office is and does; what is behind a beautiful and well-made Made in Italy product, along with the “know-how” of our industry and artisans. She has also urged the system to open up a channel of communication with social media platforms that have the potential of becoming the greatest allies to fashion, by hi-

ghlighting the unique and one-of-a-kind value of these hidden talents and abilities. In a world where everything is faster and fast fashion takes the lead, the Italian fashion system should not chase after it, but rather try to highlight its own exceptional traits and features: tradition, craft workmanship, and good taste. This is what sociologist and essay writer Francesco Morace would like to see happen, as outlined in his speech, “High Resolution for the Italian System”: the theme over the next few years must become that of “real and perceived quality” against the “low resolution” dictated by the pervasiveness of the digital era that makes everything fast, easy to share, and accessible, but subject to the unpredictable whims and ever-changing desires of the current moment. Made in Italy must go beyond this: “High quality workmanship requires knowledge, patience, refinement, in-depth analyses, care and know-how”. At the same time, good taste, an innovative mind set, and quality, with the creativity typical of Italian manufacturing, must be guaranteed.

The fourth Italian industrial sector in terms of value (24.4 billion euros), second in terms of employment, and first on a European level for its added value that accounts for 34% of the total (equal to France, Spain, Germany, and the UK taken together): this is how the Italian textile-fashion sector positions itself on a national and European level. This is what emerged from the study conducted by Marco Fortis, Director and Vice President of the Fondazione Edison, entitled “The Textile, Fashion, and Accessory Industry in the National, European, and Global Economy” for “The State of Fashion”. Characterised by a great vocation for exports, the sector continues along a path of constant growth, exceeding the milestone of 60 billion

euros in 2017, with a trade surplus close to 28 billion euros. Typical of this sector is also its exports, which are mostly accounted for by the producers themselves (for 68% of the total): it is these very same companies that make the Italian textile-fashion industry a leader in the trade flows occurring within the EU and outside of the EU. On a worldwide level, Italy is positioned among the top 5 global leaders for its positive trade balance with 372 products coming from the fashion system (out of a total of 1,004 products), for a trade surplus of around 34.7 billion euros. Among the segments, footwear is responsible for a surplus of 5.8 billion euros. France is instead the first destination of Made in Italy fashion, accounting for a share equal to 10.1%, while outside of Europe, the USA, Far East, Russia, and the United Arab Emirates are the main buyers of Italian fashion.

L

AT RIVA DEL GARDA, FROM 12 TO 15 JANUARY 2019

EXPO RIVA SCHUH CONFIRMS EXPECTATIONS “The fair that moves the world”: Expo Riva Schuh stayed true to its claim, and at Riva del Garda, all the main international production hubs were present alongside buyers coming from around one hundred different nations. From one end, there were 1,469 exhibitors, including 262 italians and 1,207 foreign companies – with a selection of 589 Chinese firms and 137 Indian businesses -, while from the other end, 13 thousand visitors were attracted by the unique offering of the “widespread fair”, or rather the exhibition network of Expo Riva Schuh, Gardabags, and the Riva hotels hosting brands looking for a more suitable context for one-to-one meetings. There were also 40 delegates coming from France, Poland, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Hungary and Croatia, as the protagonists of the meeting organised in collaboration with the ICE Italian Trade Agency and MISE - the Ministry of Economic Development. With its usual liveliness, the four days of fair featured the Fall/Winter 2019-20 collections of footwear as its protagonist, with a western trend softened by fashion elements including both metallic and lacquered materials, a vintage proposal with heels and strong lines, and 80’s-90’s revival for women. Bold and powerful shapes, bright colours and a prevalence of the athleisure style instead characterised men’s. Plus, there were playful highlights for girls, between glitter and fur, while a sporty style for boys featured proposals that imitate the chunky sneakers of adults. Completing the Expo Riva Schuh offer was Gardabags, with its selection of bags dominated by animalier prints alongside jewel-clutches, with metallic and sparkling details. Flexible and efficient, the event was multifaceted, satisfying a wide range of needs,

while once again proposing itself as a fair where business not only revolved around volume footwear, but also around the total look, fast fashion, and e-commerce. It was the digital revolution, in fact, which is completely transforming the footwear and leathers goods industry, from the creative phase to distribution, to inspire the fair’s opening talk. The Director of Riva del Garda FiereCongressi, Giovanni Laezza, journalist Cinzia Malvini, and blogger Sabrina Musco shined a light on the opportunities and risks of e-commerce and on the role of influencers. Always in line with the market’s latest trends, Expo Riva Schuh once again interpreted new scenarios, proposing itself as a point of reference, even outside the fair. The next edition of Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags will be held from 15 to 18 June 2019.

the digitaL revoLUtion at expo riva SchUh A bona fide revolution that has shaken the foundations of the footwear and leather goods industry. The digital revolution has reprogrammed the entire way business is done, from the creative phase to distribution, and from retail to communication. This is the theme of the opening talk that included the following protagonists: the Director of Riva del Garda FiereCongressi, Giovanni Laezza, journalist Cinzia Malvini, who is an expert of costume and fashion at La7 and Book Moda, and influencer Sabrina Musco. “The fair is increasingly witness to the digital revolution – declared Giovanni Laezza who underlines – for years now, our exhibitors have been working with e-commerce, while we communicate on social networks before, during, and after the event. The fair is four days of activity between the real and digital worlds, a place for meeting and integration, as well as a protagonist of not only PalaFiere, but also the web and social media”. Cinzia Malvini instead spoke of the phenomenon of internet sales: “The amount spent every minute on the Internet increased from 751 thousand dollars in 2017 to 862 thousand in 2018 – she declared – and footwear is among the bestselling

products. The Internet is accordingly a great opportunity for the sector. It plays a decisive role in promoting products, and sales occur through social media, and above all, through Instagram and Facebook, which presents itself as a genuine marketplace. In the USA it is in fact responsible for generating 48% of online sales”. It is also interesting to note how even e-tailers have created their own footwear brands: among them are impressive examples like the Ynap brand of “8 by Yoox” and the “Chiara Ferragni” collection for her website “The Blonde Salad”. An exception vehicle for the promotion of brands, the network also has a number of hidden dangers: “It’s important to avoid boomerang effects – warns Cinzia Malvini – remembering the failure of Dolce&Gabbana, which was forced to cancel its event in China because of a gaffe made on social media”. Expert in web communication, Sabrina Musco tells businesses to take advantage of influencers and their promotional powers: “Provided that the brand is compatible with the target of the influencer, while allowing itself to be presented from their point of view. It is also important to have a long-term vision, and not a simple touch and go approach”.

G

GARDABAGS: IN THE SPIRIT OF THE TOTAL LOOK Now in its second edition, the exhibition project dedicated to bags and accessories experienced growth and a reinforcement of its role in completing purchases inspired by the total look, in accordance with the latest market trends. In the extensive and striking setting located along the banks of the river, the PalaVela structure with its more than 2 thousand square metres of surface area welcomed a qualified selection of bags, belts, and accessories presented by 60 exhibitors coming from 9 different countries. Continuous connections and transfers between the Palafiere and Expo Riva Schuh, along with the exceptional opening of Gardabags until 8 pm, allowed buyers to optimise their visit to the two events, with multiple opportunities for new contacts and business allowing them to better complete their purchases. “The synergy between Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags has allowed for the creation of the only international business hub capable of integrating a unique footwear offering with accessories for the volume sector – confirmed Carla Costa, Exhibitions Manager for Riva del Garda Fierecongressi. The fashion system is increasingly thinking in a logic of total look, and once again we have been able to intercept this trend and offer exhibitors a trade fair tool in line with the evolution of the market”. “We firmly believe in this event and in its potential as an international hub for footwear and leather goods - commented the president of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi, Roberto Pellegrini. - For this reason, we are working on an increasingly accurate selection of the offer, complemented by Gardabags for the bag sector. We also offer innovative services, and the renewal of the exhibition spaces.” The protagonist of fashion was the FW 2019-20 season, dominated by patterns and animalier prints on leather goods, present above all on models for daytime and free time. For the evening, instead, the great protagonist once again revealed itself to be the rigid clutch embellished by stone inserts and sparkling details, which became a real jewel to be shown.

Gardabags inaugurated this edition in an especially dazzling way, in the discovery of the dream bag and the bag for the perfect look with the help of style coach and television icon Carla Gozzi, together with lifestyle and fashion journalist at La7 and Book Moda, Cinzia Malvini. Carla Gozzi was also the protagonist of the event “Share your bag”, which granted the general public exceptional access to Gardabags, while involving around two-hundred fashion lovers inspired by the advice of the fashion coach, who were asked to choose the ideal bag for their look from among the collections present at the fair. After posting these looks to Instagram, Carla Gozzi then went on to choose the selfie that best represented in her opinion the right match between outfits and accessories, nominating the winner as the Gardabags “Ambassador of style”. “The bag is the object of desire of every woman, while what it contains is her entire world – comments Carla Gozzi -. Before all else, it must be chosen with the oc-

casion in mind: for the day, it must be spacious, with a rigid base that allows every item to be easily found and with numerous compartments and practical zips. The dimensions must be in proportion to the physique of the wearer, without ever exceeding 2 heads in height. Nevertheless, every woman has the bag that best represents her personality: from the romantic one with flowers and feminine decorations, to the more rock-styled one dominated by black and with metallic details. For the pre-cocktail hour, instead, the ideal bag is a medium-size shoulder bag, not excessively over-the-top, which can then be transformed into a precious clutch and dream object for the evening”. The bag that every woman must have? “A small medium-sized shoulder bag, capable of holding everything needed, which can then be transformed into a more feminine and precious object for the evening by simply hiding the strap inside it, thus allowing it to become a clutch with the addition of a stylish detail like a bow or crystal brooch”.

“We are satisfied with our participation in Gardabags and will definitely not miss out at the next edition: last time we acquired a big customer from Romania, and now we are negotiating with an important Polish company. These are buyers dealing in both bags and shoes, who are interested in planning their orders with the possibility of developing made-tomeasure items, or even directly ordering from samples already present in the collection. Attracting them is mainly our workmanship and modelled outlines – an asymmetrical geometric shape that is very popular -, and the quality of a production completely made using genuine leather, with faux fur details”.

The aTmospheres and TasTes of TrenTino aT The fair An oasis of taste in the middle of the fair: the Buyers’ Lounge in Hall C4 returned to its role of hosting buyers at the fair, with the tastes and fragrances of the territory. Among them were delicacies from the Trentino culinary tradition prepared by the chefs of the Trentino Association of Cooks: carne salada [salted meat], European perch and orzotto… paired with wines par excellence, like the fullbodied Teroldego and sparkling Müller Thurgau. Tastings echoed in the flavours and aromas, and striking landscapes of Alto Garda, with its stretches of lake, imposing mountains, and hills filled with rows of vineyards and olive groves. However, the Buyers’ Lounge was the just beginning of the taste journey, which extended to include the Garda Taste area in Hall 1, dedicated to pleasant flavourful encounters and moments for relaxation. Among the local specialties and wine tastings, speaking of shoes was a pleasure that will not soon be forgotten.

Melania, back to street The new FW 2019/20 Collection by Melania has its roots sunk in street culture: a spirited and contemporary appeal turns Melania’s footwear into the real protagonist of the outfit. For the next FW season, the unmistakable and innovative style that has always distinguished the brand Melania looks to fine materials, complex finishings and unique leather skins. The sneaker for Her is the protagonist of a street proposal, playing around with both studs and sequins, while for Him, we find charming colour blocks. Gender details are alternated on shoes: colourful ribbons and laces are realised in alternative materials like velvet and cotton. There are then ankle boots, boots and Texas boots featuring a plain design matched with a rock appeal. For little girls, shoes are proposed in leather finished with spotted prints and a rock touch; dark blue and total black velvets and patent leathers are protagonists of the most important occasions, while rich furred borders and leather lining warm up little feet in the coldest season. The colour palette moves from burgundy to gentle pink. For little boys, boots and ankle boots are realised in brushed leathers and nubuck; funny inserts and patchworks convey a kind of twist to the boys’ collection with hints from the military world. Colours depict a refined proposal where brushed leathers are proposed in leather, dark brown and total black tones. Specialised in the production of shoes for children since 1966, the brand Melania exclusively produces Made in Italy quality for its directly owned brands of Melania and Mkids.

nike epic react Flyknit: greater springiness, higher perForMance Nike Epic React Flyknit, the running shoe with special reactive foam, returns with a whole new look and bold spirit. The foam is even softer and lighter weight, but durable, offering greater energy return when running, km after km, a requirement making it ideal for long-distance running, as well as for short sprints and relay races. The upper with the Nike Flyknit system allows for a perfect fit &

feel, guaranteeing support, flexibility, and breathability where there is greater need. Under the foot, Nike React technology makes it softer and more reactive. The technological midsole allows for an ultra-fluid gait, while the form-fitting heel offers cushioning and stability. The midsole in foam (which is without glue or other physical reinforcements) is made from a computational design that allows the surface to be constructed in such a way as to guarantee shockabsorption and support in the areas of the foot that are most stressed when running. Thus, superfluous material is eliminated, while keeping the weight to a minimum. The deeper areas are the ones of greatest shock-absorption, while those that are closer to the surface offer a better grip. The intersections in the rubber sole provide traction and increase the lifetime of the shoe. Finally, the “8-bit” and “Pixel” colours are inspired by the vivid tones and technological world of the 90’s: muted white-lime for the midsole, bright pink-white for the outsole, and sapphire for the heel. An energetic bright look borrowed from the imagery of the first portable videogames and the first bright and colourful computers.

Moon boot, Florentine Moon landing 50 years have passed since the landing on the moon, a special anniversary shared by the Moon Boot brand which, at Pitti Uomo, celebrates at the Stazione Leopolda in Florence among boots and giant flying astronauts. On show, an exhibition of 50 models key to making the history of the brand owned by Tecnica Group Spa. Among them is included the iconic Moon Boot inspired by lunar landings and the first legendary step taken by Neil Armstrong on the moon’s surface. “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind”: it was the first mission to the moon to in fact inspire the creation of the Moon Boot, which then went on to become the cult object it continues to be today around the world. Moreover, it has now been revamped in contemporary versions that do not betray its origins. Like the capsule collection presented in the igloo set up at the Fortezza da Basso: this limited edition is made up by a dozen models or so, including the precious boot covered in Swarovski crystals in both a high and low-cut version, at the not exactly inexpensive price of 2500 to 3000 euros. Not new to projects with leading names in fashion and footwear – like Armani, Jimmy Choo, Moncler, and Massimo Giorgetti… – Moncler announces that it would like to focus on products dedicated not only to the mountains, but also for the city, while extending its distribution from sports stores to also include other channels.

giOvanni Fabiani On THE MOvE!

giovanni Fabiani on the Move!

pretty ballerinas: Flat all day long Whoever said “flat” is not exciting, is obviously not familiar with the collections by Pretty Ballerinas, the Spanish brand that revolutionised the style of flats and all-day long wearability. The FW19-20 collection highlights the creativity of the world of flatties, giving life to an elegant, trendy, and sometimes even glamorous collection. Accordingly, every moment of the day has a suitable proposal designed by Pretty Ballerinas. Starting with Glen Check loafers trimmed in black and adorned with maxi silk bows that conveys a charming dandy look, we next find animalier loafers that stand out for their pop-inspired tiger embroideries… From deco details that immerse us in the atmospheres of the Roaring Twenties and the Great Gatsby, to the Angelis mules in suede, with exquisite squared crystal buckles that are the maximum expression of glamour. There are then the red suede Texas-hold’ems that interpret the claim of love with sparkling rhinestone appliqués… Thus, we find the perfect ballerina for every occasion, along with an irreproachable style for your urban, business, dandy, and glam looks.

“Feeling the movement” is the dictate set down by Giovanni Fabiani for women in the coming FW19-20 season. For a woman who is always on the move, a style that embraces sportswear, street philosophy, and active daywear with mountain contaminations. The point is to never stand idle and always be on the move. For women who follow this dictate, Giovanni Fabiani presents a collection that is the perfect blending of femininity with strong highlights. Thus, room is made for superlight rubber outsoles with ankle silhouettes, a line of fitted boots, and masculine lace-ups with plays of graphic cuts that outline volumes. Matelassé details cover nappa surfaces with a soft touch, while fastenings are taken from the world of trekking, with macro fastenings that rise up as the motif of the product. Light gold and deep iron galvanic accessories find an equilibrium in an urban expression matched with black, or in the warm tones of caper green and slate. Beads and crystals light up suede leathers in elegant tones, crocodile-effect surfaces and ultra-shine patent leather. The celebrity spokesperson for the brand is Carlotta Maggiorana, Miss Italia 2018, representing the good taste of Italian and Marches fashion around the world.
