In a market driven by constant novelty and fast-changing trends, one value remains essential: quality. As we present our new Bologna catalogue, we are reminded that the titles leading our international rights list are not always the newest ones, but those that have proven their strength over time.

Well-edited books with powerful illustrations and solid concepts continue to cross borders, connect with new generations, and enjoy long lives in bookstores and libraries worldwide. These long sellers reflect a shared vision between authors, illustrators, and publishers—one that values coherence, creativity, and lasting relevance.
At Combel, we believe there is no formula for success, but experience shows that when a book is carefully crafted, it has every chance to endure. Alongside strong backlist titles and growing series, new releases are already finding international homes, with the potential to become the classics of tomorrow.
Last year, we celebrated multiple reprints: espectacular novelties that remain just as vibrant as the day they were first published. And, as always, there are new surprises: bath books, which are so costly to produce, are slowly gaining ground. i.e. “Bath Times Classics” and The Wolf is Coming!, released in September. Or our big pop-up collection “Pipa & Otto”, which continues to grow with the support of loyal publishers around the world.
And speaking of releases: “Rob & Ot”, launched one year ago, has already sold into 6 languages and “Ticniks”, already has a home in 9 publishing houses. We hope some of the novelties will become long sellers.
Our catalogue is built not just on discovering new hits, but on nurturing quality, trust, and long-term partnerships—because books made to last always find their readers.

The Iliad is an epic poem attributed to Homer that recounts the final year of the Trojan War. After nine long years of fighting, Achilles, the greatest of the Greek heroes, realizes that he has yet to perform any deed worthy of the eternal glory his mother once foretold. This moment marks the beginning of the story.
This modern adaptation preserves the spirit of ancient oral storytelling, when epic tales were sung before attentive crowds. Let us join the circle and listen as the muse begins her song!

Six million years ago the Earth was shaken by a sudden climate change. The lush forests of Africa became savannahs. Primates, who until then lived in the trees, learned to live on the ground and to walk on two legs in order to be able to stand in the undergrowth and see into the distance. They learned to think, to invent, to communicate, to imagine; they became human. Equipped with stone tools and mastering the fire, they set out to travel the world.

We often wish to be like others. In this story by bestselling author Jaume Copons and illustrator Gusti, the characters explore children’s insecurities and jealousies, reminding us that, in the end, we are who we are.

There were seven witches of Ariete until a mysterious egg was found. What would be inside? A terrible spell or the stinkiest of monsters? None of the seven could imagine what had come to the Ariete forest.

In this book, young readers will find five stories based on well-known anecdotes about Purcell, Verdi, JS Bach, Scarlatti and Benny Goodman. They all have something in common: they all are true. But the truth is that every single story also hides a little rotten lie. Find the discordant one and play “truth or lie”!

Nine years have passed since Bambú launched the first title of “Victory”, a collection of short stories on personal growth for children to discover the pleasure of reading. Each title tackles a key issue for this age group in a very funny and easy-going way: selfishness, sincerity, personal hygiene, good manners, nightmares, violence, swearing, consumerism or hyperconnectivity. Simple and easy to understand, texts come with amazing illustrations by Cristina Losantos to stimulate the imagination. We are now delighted to add this series to the Combel catalogue with a new title about picky eaters.

My name is Agus Pianola. You didn’t know this, but sooner or later we were bound to be friends. Until recently I was a rather normal kid: I went to school, lost my homework, wolfed down pizza… But the day I met Mr Flat, everything changed.
Ah, of course. You still don’t know who Ms Flat is, do you? I’ll just tell you that he’s a monster and that ever since he moved into my room, the world is not only more fun, but it’s also a better place. Better, but with tons of trouble!
