Books for Children and Young Adults 2026

Welcome to the

FTD EDUCAÇÃO RIGHTS GUIDE 2026

We are delighted to share with you our Highlights for 2026. This is a careful selection of our books, diverse collections, relevant themes, innovative projects and important authors. There is a lot to discover in our New Catalogue!

In the Highlights category, you’ll find double-page spreads dedicated to our award-winning authors with books published in various countries. This allows you to explore, all in one place, the featured book for this season, as well as other Backlist books from these authors.

In the Picturebooks:

Telma Guimarães, author of the bestseller Where Is the Book That Was Here?, whose publishing rights have been sold to 5 countries, appears in this edition with two new titles: It’s Time! and It’s Ours! Both books portray adventures and everyday situations of animals in the forest, in which the imagination and attitudes of each character reveal different ways of reacting to everyday themes.

Patricia Auerbach and Roberta Asse, authors who have won numerous literary awards, present us with the dazzling Wetland. It’s a wordless book that presents the passage of time and the daily life of a riverside community in the heart of the Pantanal, the largest floodplain on the planet.

Edimilson de Almeida Pereira, one of the leading contemporary Brazilian poets, who has written essays and poetry for adults and children, also brightens our list of authors with Something, Nothing. This collection of poems about everyday objects invites the reader to immerse themselves in a fun game of opposites and possibilities.

In the Illustrated Fiction and Novels:

Jacques Fux, whose books and short stories have been published in Italy, Mexico, Peru, Israel, the United States, and France, stands out in this category with A Labyrinthine Maze. This book was recently awarded the gold award at the LADAWARDS 2025 (Latin American Design Awards). With an honorable mention for it’s graphic design, which is a work of art in itself, the reader will delight in the fantastic adventures of a boy detective in a labyrinth full of enigmas.

Last but certainly not least, two excellent new titles complement this category:

In The Bird King, written and illustrated by the indigenous artist Ezequiel Vitor Tuxá, nature teaches a greedy king the importance of respecting the water, the land, and it’s inhabitants. A symbolic plot that blends critique and fantasy, contributing to the development of critical and empathetic readers.

The book The Only One in the Classroom invites readers to reflect on the impact that structural racism has on Tereza’s life. The narrative prioritizes the protagonist’s subjective perspective, encouraging critical reading and collective dialogue about inclusion and respect.

These books are just a glimpse of what you can find in our full Digital Catalogue:

Now it’s time for you to dive in and explore our books. Enjoy it!

All of the best,

ABOUT THE BOOK

In this story written by Jonas Ribeiro and Telma Guimarães, author of the bestseller Where is the Book That Was Here?, the Owl, the Jabiru Stork and the Parrot hear a strange noise in the forest and formulate several hypotheses about what that sound could be. The imagination and attitudes of each character reveal different ways of reacting to the unknown: curiosity, prudence, caution and fear. The creative dialogue between text and image is the book’s highlight. The text uses constructions that are repeated and that provokes expectations on the part of the reader with each turn of the page. Esteban Vivaldi’s illustrations explore the exuberance of Brazilian fauna and flora in a profusion of colors, movements and perspectives. While the expressiveness of the characters reinforces the nuances of the written narrative, the representation of what they are imagining amplifies the meaning of the words.

Format: 275 x 190 mm

Pages: 64

Cover: paperback

Age Group: 3 to 6

ISBN: 978-85-96-05305-1

ABOUT THE BOOK

Wetland is a wordless book that presents the passage of time and the daily life of a riverside community in the heart of the Pantanal, the largest floodplain on the planet. There, the distances are enormous, journeys are almost always made by boat, and students return home only on weekends and during school breaks. The transformation of the landscape affects the lives of the inhabitants: the water rises, the plains flood, and many families are isolated, in a silent dialogue with nature. This book tells the story of two friends experiencing the rhythm of the water during their vacation. While the river is not flooding, they play outside with their friends, and the adults do outdoor activities. During the flood, everyone stays at home. When the river water finally recedes, the children return to school and the families can spend time together again.

The illustrations are by Grupo Matizes Dumont, a family of artisans from the interior of Brazil who use spontaneous hand-made embroidery as an artistic language and an instrument of social and cultural transformation. Their handmade works of art illustrate Alessandra Roscoe’s poetic prose and reveal, in a profusion of colors and textures, the beauty present in the details and in the little things that make life enchanting.
