We are ready to put aside, without forgetting it, the health emergency and lockdowns. We are ready to go back to living our daily life fully. We are ready to get excited and try new sensations together.
Siamo pronti a mettere da parte, senza dimenticarla, l’emergenza sanitaria e i lockdown. Siamo pronti a tornare a vivere pienamente la nostra quotidianità. Siamo pronti ad emozionarci e provare nuove sensazioni insieme. Siamo pronti all’edizione 2021 della Hoka Maratona di Ravenna Città d’Arte, il grande contenitore di colore, calore, urla, gioia, sport, eventi. In una parola: emozioni. L’autunno 2021 sta rappresentando per molti ambiti la vera ripartenza per lasciarsi il Covid alle spalle, senza per questo sottovalutarne ogni aspetto, ed anche Ravenna Runners Club torna in strada per il suo caleidoscopio di manifestazioni e appuntamenti che animeranno il week-end dal 12 al 14 novembre. Ogni maxi contenitore che si rispetti contiene tante cose, in questo caso tanti eventi. Dal venerdì pomeriggio l’apertura dell’Expo Marathon Village, quest’anno allestito alle Artificerie Almagià. Al sabato mattina, nell’area dell’ex Ippodromo Candiano, la Conad Family Run con 2 km per famiglie, nonne, zii e istituti scolastici del territorio. A seguire la carovana chiassosa e colorata della Frutta Bau Dog & Run, con padroni e cani gli uni al fianco degli altri. Domenica 14 il giorno che tutti attendono. Un piccolo, ma dal significato importantissimo, assaggio iniziale con Correndo Senza Frontiere riservato ai diversamente abili ed ai loro accompagnatori. Poi, i due start da Via di Roma: Hoka Maratona di Ravenna Città d’Arte 42K e Ravenna Half Marathon 21 k. In contemporanea il via al fiume colorato, infinito, gioioso, fragoroso, allegro e incosciente della Martini Good Morning Ravenna 10K dall’ex Ippodromo Candiano. Per tutti l’arrivo in Via di Roma dove torneremo a vivere insieme le emozioni più belle, quelle provate sotto un traguardo che per tutti noi rappresenterà anche un nuovo inizio.

We are ready for the 2021 edition of the Hoka Marathon in Ravenna City of Art, the great container of color, warmth, screams, joy, sport, events. In one word: emotions. Autumn 2021 is representing for many reason the real restart to leave Covid behind, without underestimating every aspect, and also Ravenna Runners Club is back on the street for its kaleidoscope of events and appointments that will animate the weekend from 12 to November 14th. Every self-respecting maxi container contains many things, in this case many events. From Friday afternoon the opening of the Expo Marathon Village, this year set up at the Artificerie Almagià. On Saturday morning, in the area of the former Ippodromo Candiano, the Conad Family Run with 2 km for families, grandmothers, uncles and schools in the area. Followed by the noisy and colorful caravan of Frutta Bau Dog & Run, with owners and dogs side by side. Sunday 14 is the day everyone is waiting for. A small, but very important, initial taste with Running Without Borders reserved for the disabled and their companions. Then, the two starts from Via di Roma: Hoka Maratona di Ravenna Città d’Arte 42K and Ravenna Half Marathon 21k. At the same time, the colorful, infinite, joyful, thunderous, cheerful and reckless river of the Martini Good Morning Ravenna 10K from the former Ippodromo Candiano starts. For everyone, the finish line in Via di Roma where we will back to fill together emotions, those experienced under a goal that will also represent a new beginning for all of us.

SINDACO DI RAVENNA Quest’anno, più di sempre, è un enorme piacere dare il benvenuto a Ravenna a tutte e tutti i partecipanti della Maratona di Ravenna Città d’Arte. Dopo il periodo difficilissimo che abbiamo attraversato, e che ci ha costretti purtroppo ad annullare l’edizione dello scorso anno, è una gioia immensa accogliere questa manifestazione sportiva unica nel panorama delle maratone, che rappresenta per Ravenna un evento di grande richiamo e di straordinaria valorizzazione e promozione del nostro patrimonio artistico e monumentale. Un ringraziamento al comitato organizzativo Ravenna Runners Club, sostenuto dall’Amministrazione comunale, dalla Regione Emilia-Romagna e dai numerosi sponsor, che ha lavorato con grande e rinnovato entusiasmo per garantire la realizzazione dell’edizione di quest’anno in totale qualità e sicurezza. Un grazie anche ai e alle ravennati che come sempre sapranno accogliere i tanti runners a braccia aperte e con il calore che ci contraddistingue.
STEFANO RIGHINI PRESIDENTE DI RAVENNA RUNNERS CLUB L’Italia sta, gradualmente, tornando a correre con tutte le attenzioni del caso. E se l’Italia sta riprendendo il filo da dove era stato bruscamente interrotto, anche noi, in occasione della Hoka Maratona di Ravenna, vogliamo ripartire con un obiettivo primario: riprenderci i nostri spazi. Quella 2021 sarà evidentemente un’edizione particolare, sia nel suo svolgimento che nel messaggio che lancerà. I momenti di aggregazione e di sport collettivo stanno tornando, ma i protocolli ci impongono ancora tanta attenzione soprattutto per quanto concerne possibili assembramenti. Per questo motivo da Via di Roma partiranno Domenica 14 novembre solamente la Maratona e la Half Marathon. La nostra cara e amata Martini Good Morning Ravenna avrà il suo start da un contesto nuovo, da un punto della città tutto da riscoprire come quello dell’Ex Ippodromo Candiano. Salvo poi ritrovarsi all’arrivo tutti insieme ancora una volta su Via di Roma. Ecco, credo che quella del 2021 sia l’edizione giusta del nostro evento per riappropriarsi di spazi di Ravenna che sino ad oggi avevano goduto di una considerazione minore e tra questi proprio l’Ex Ippodromo, uno dei principali spazi all’aperto di Ravenna che tornerà ad essere punto di ritrovo e di riferimento. Da lì, tutti insieme, potremo riprenderci l’intera città e tornare a vivere i momenti più belli con la spensieratezza di un tempo, anche se con tanta attenzione alle regole. L’annullamento improvviso del 2020, nostro malgrado ci ha dimostrato l’importanza che riveste questo evento per l’intero territorio e siamo felici di poter tornare sulle strade, sentendo forte il sostegno dell’Amministrazione comunale, della Regione Emilia-Romagna, ma anche di ogni singolo cittadino consapevole che, anche dalla Maratona, passerà il rilancio della città. Noi faremo, come sempre, la nostra parte. Con il massimo impegno e tutta la professionalità della quale siamo capaci. Ai ravennati e ai tanti visitatori, che giungeranno da ogni parte, un altro compito: quello di divertirsi e tornare a godere di una giornata di sport e amicizia insieme. Infine un doveroso ringraziamento agli sponsor che malgrado le difficoltà del momento hanno continuato a supportarci e soprattutto a tutti i volontari che non si sono sottratti, anzi sempre più numerosi, consentono lo svolgimento dell’evento.
GIACOMO COSTANTINI ASSSESSORE ALLO SPORT E AL TURISMO DEL COMUNE DI RAVENNA La Maratona di Ravenna è un evento in grado di richiamare runners e spettatori non solo da tutta Italia, ma da tutto il mondo grazie al perfetto connubio tra sport e arte che la manifestazione offre. Le condizioni quest’anno ci impongono ancora molta attenzione ai protocolli ed anche per questo motivo il Comune di Ravenna e Ravenna Runners Club hanno inserito fra le proposte anche l’appuntamento della Virtual edition sulla piattaforma di Real Buzz. A prescindere dall’opzione “virtuale”, siamo comunque molto contenti di non dover rinunciare, come purtroppo accaduto nel 2020, ad una manifestazione che è sempre stata una grande festa in grado di coinvolgere sullo stesso piano turisti e cittadini, organizzatori e volontari. Desidero ringraziare proprio questi ultimi in maniera particolare, consapevole dell’enorme lavoro che prevede la promozione e la progettazione di un evento di tale portata. La Maratona di Ravenna non è solo una bella manifestazione, sottolineata anche dal valore della medaglia in mosaico famosa ormai in tutto il mondo, ma negli anni è diventata anche un vero e proprio punto di riferimento per runner professionisti che scelgono Ravenna per la qualità dell’organizzazione le caratteristiche del percorso, uniche nel suo genere con così tanti monumenti, siti artistici e culturali di valore immenso. Ravenna è pronta ad accogliere tutti ancora nel pieno delle celebrazioni per il 700esimo anniversario della morte di Dante Alighieri, con un calendario che prevede ancora iniziative ed eventi in onore del Sommo Poeta, anche in occasione delle prossime festività natalizie. Questa XXII edizione vuole lanciare un forte messaggio di comunità e solidarietà nonostante il periodo e potrà essere la rappresentazione di un’Italia unita nel tricolore dei corridori provenienti da tutta la penisola che, siamo sicuri, sapranno apprezzare la bellezza e l’impegno di Ravenna anche in un momento delicato come questo.

After the very difficult period we went through, and which unfortunately forced us to cancel last year’s edition, it is an immense joy to welcome this unique sporting event in the panorama of marathons, which represents for Ravenna an event of great appeal and extraordinary enhancement and promotion of our artistic and monumental heritage. Thanks to the Ravenna Runners Club organizing committee, supported by the municipal administration, the Emilia-Romagna Region and the numerous sponsors, who worked with great and renewed enthusiasm to ensure the realization of this year’s edition in total quality and safety. Thanks also to Ravenna citiziens who, as always, will be able to welcome the many runners with open arms and with the warmth that distinguishes us. STEFANO RIGHINI - PRESIDENT OF RAVENNA RUNNERS CLUB Italy is gradually returning to racing with all the necessary attention. And if Italy is picking up the thread from where it was abruptly interrupted, we too, on the occasion of the Hoka Marathon in Ravenna, want to start again with a primary objective: to take back our spaces. That 2021 will obviously be a particular edition, both in its development and in the message it will launch. The moments of aggregation and collective sport are coming back, but the protocols still require a lot of attention, especially as regards possible crowding. For this reason, only the Marathon and Half Marathon will start from Via di Roma on Sunday 14 November. Our dear and beloved Martini Good Morning Ravenna will have its start from a new context, from a point of the city to be rediscovered like the one of the Ex Ippodromo Candiano. Except then, we will meet each other again on Via di Roma at the finish line. Here then, I believe that 2021 should be the right edition for our event to re-evaluate spaces in Ravenna that until now had enjoyed lesser consideration and among these the Ex Hippodrome, one of the main open spaces in Ravenna which it will once again be a meeting point and a reference point. From there, all together, we should be able to take back the entire city and return to fill beautiful moments with the carefree nature of the past, even if with a lot of attention to the rules. The sudden cancellation of 2020, in spite of ourselves, has shown us the importance of this event for the entire territory and we are happy to be able to coming back in the streets, feeling the strong support of the municipal administration, of the Emilia-Romagna Region, but also of every single citizen aware that, also thanks to the Marathon, the relaunch of the city will take place. We, as always, will do our work. With the utmost commitment and all the professionalism we are capable of. To the people of Ravenna and the many visitors, who will come from all over, another task: to have fun and return to enjoy a day of sport and friendship together. Finally, a dutiful thanks to the sponsors who despite the difficulties of the moment have continued to support us and above all to all the volunteers who have not shied away, indeed more and more numerous, allow the event to take place. GIACOMO COSTANTINI – COUNCILOR FOR SPORT AND TOURISM The Ravenna Marathon is an event capable of attracting runners and spectators not only from all over Italy, but from all over the world thanks to the perfect combination of sport and art provided by the event. We surely have to pay more attention to the protocols and also for this reason the Municipality of Ravenna and Ravenna Runners Club have included among the proposals of the Virtual edition developed on the Real Buzz platform. Regardless of the “virtual” option, we are still very happy not to have to give up, as unfortunately happened in 2020, to an event that has always been a great party capable of involving tourists and citizens, organizers and volunteers on the same level. I would thanks volunteers in special way, aware of the enormous work involved in promoting and planning an event of this magnitude. The Ravenna Marathon is not only a beautiful event, also underlined by the value of the mosaic medal, now famous all over the world, but over the years it has also become a real target for professional runners who choose Ravenna for the quality of the organization the characteristics of the route, unique in its kind with so many monuments, artistic and cultural sites of immense value. Ravenna is ready to welcome everyone still during the celebrations for the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri, with a calendar that still includes initiatives and events in honor of the Supreme Poet, also for the upcoming Christmas Holidays. This XXII edition wants to launch a strong message of community and solidarity despite the period and could be the representation of a united Italy in the tricolor of runners from all over the peninsula who, we are sure, will be able to appreciate the beauty and commitment of Ravenna too in a delicate moment like this.

Quando lo sport è alla portata di tutti, è aggregazione, è amicizia, è famiglia. Quando lo sport non è solo agonismo, ma anche il piacere di stare insieme e di prendere parte ad un evento che attraversa le strade della città in una giornata di festa tra famiglie e scolaresche, perché lo sport è sempre per tutti! Sabato 13 novembre torniamo a camminare o correre insieme a mamma, papà, zii e nonni con la Conad Family Run, 2 km circa di benessere e sorrisi. E quest’anno la manifestazione si svolgerà in una location nuova: l’ex Ippodromo Candiano. Nel grande spazio all’aperto a pochi passi dal centro storico ritorna un appuntamento che fa dell’aggregazione il suo obiettivo principale. Il via alle ore 10.00 per una mattina da ricordare

Ecco la Frutta Bau Dogs & Run, la cosiddetta Maratonina a 6 zampe dove padroni e cani possono sfilare gli uni al fianco degli altri. Un momento tutto per voi, dalle ore 12 circa (al termine della Conad Family Run) all’Ex Ippodromo Candiano. E per tutti i partecipanti una borsa ricca di omaggi e gadget coi quali trascorrere ancor più tempo insieme al vostro miglior amico.
CORRENDO SENZA FRONTIERE, ANCHE LA DISABILITÀ SCENDE IN STRADA
Come sempre, la Maratona di Ravenna, sarà un appuntamento aperto davvero a tutti, senza alcuna distinzione. Questo è l’obiettivo anche dell’iniziativa “Correndo senza Frontiere”, nata per aprire le porte a tutte le persone con disabilità. Un progetto nato all’interno del “Coordinamento per l’attività motoria e sportiva adattata alla persona con disabilità intellettiva” creato nel 2016 dal CSI di Ravenna e dalla Cooperativa Sociale “La Pieve”, rivolto ad atleti con disabilità e dedicato alla promozione dell’inclusione sociale. All’insegna dello slogan “lo sport è per tutti”, un breve tragitto che porterà gli atleti disabili, ed i loro accompagnatori, a percorrere circa 3 km del percorso della Maratona nel centro storico, sino ad arrivare al traguardo di Via di Roma prima del sopraggiungere dei runner delle diverse distanze. Pronti agli applausi??
DANTE 700 Lo scorso 12 settembre i gonfaloni di tutte le città italiane citate nella Divina Commedia e quelle che conservano memorie dantesche hanno reso onore al Sommo Poeta all’apice della programmazione di “Viva Dante – Ravenna 2020-21”, calendario di iniziative promosse e organizzate per ricordare proprio i 700 anni dalla morte di Dante Alighieri. Il Poeta considerato padre della moderna lingua italiana si è infatti spento nel 1321 proprio a Ravenna, dove ancora oggi riposano le sue spoglie nel sepolcro restaurato e tornato all’antico splendore, inaugurato il 5 settembre 2020 alla presenza del Presidente della Repubblica Sergio Mattarella. Here is the Frutta Bau Dogs & Run, the so-called 6-legged mini Marathon where owners and dogs can parade alongside each other. RUNNING WITHOUT BARRIERS, EVEN DISABILITY GET DOWN THE STREET
As always, the Ravenna Marathon will be an event open to everyone, without distinction. This is also the goal of the “Running without Barriers” initiative, created to open the doors to all people with disabilities. A project born within the “Coordination for motor and sports activities adapted to people with intellectual disabilities” created in 2016 by the CSI of Ravenna and the Social Cooperative “La Pieve”, aimed at athletes with disabilities and dedicated to the promotion of social inclusion. Under the slogan “sport is for everyone”, a short journey that will take disabled athletes, and their companions, to cover about 3 km of the Marathon route in the historic center, until reaching the finish line in Via di Roma before of the arrival of runners of different distances. Ready to cheer them?
DANTE 700 On last September 12th, the banners of all the Italian cities mentioned in the Divine Comedy and those that preserve Dante’s memories honored the Supreme Poet at the apex of the programming of “Viva Dante - Ravenna 2020-21”, a calendar of initiatives promoted and organized to remember the 700 anniversary of Dante Alighieri death. The poet, considered the father of the modern Italian language, in fact died in 1321 in Ravenna, where his remains still rest today in the restored sepulcher and returned to its former glory, inaugurated on September 5th 2020 at the presence of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella. MISURE DURANTE LA GARA In griglia di partenza gli atleti dovranno, indossando la mascherina, posizionarsi garantendo il rispetto del distanziamento anche in questa fase. Dopo i primi 500 metri, sarà possibile togliere la mascherina avendo cura di metterla al braccio EVITANDO ACCURATAMENTE DI GETTARLA A TERRA oppure gettandola negli appositi contenitori. Rispettare il distanziamento laterale di almeno 1m a destra e a sinistra e circa 5 metri dall’atleta che precede Gettare i rifiuti negli appositi bidoni presenti nelle zone ristoro avendo cura che non cadano a terra Saranno presenti i RACE CONTROLLER, chiaramente riconoscibili, che oltre a vigilare sulla buona condotta di gara degli atleti, sono incaricati di correre la maratona ad un ritmo costante per arrivare al traguardo nei seguenti tempi: 3h00 – 3h15 – 3h30 – 3h45 – 4h00 – 4h15 – 4h30 – 4h45 - 5h00 – 5h30 - 6h00.

A ROUTE CONSTELLED BY UNESCO MONUMENTS, WORLD HERITAGE OF UMANITY
Anche per l’edizione 2021 il percorso della Maratona di Ravenna terrà fede alla sua etichetta di “Città d’Arte” e, per scelta di Ravenna Runners Club e dell’Amministrazione Comunale di Ravenna, toccherà tutti gli otto siti paleocristiani iscritti Unesco World Heritage dal 1996 e quindi, Patrimonio Mondiale dell’Umanità. Otto gioielli della storia e dell’arte che Ravenna apre al mondo non più come suo patrimonio, ma come bene dell’umanità intera.
Also for 2021 edition, the route of the Ravenna Marathon will respect its label of “City of Art” and, by choice of the Ravenna Runners Club and the Ravenna Municipal Administration, it will reach all eight paleochristian sites registered Unesco World Heritage since 1996 and therefore, a World Heritage Site. Eight jewels of history and art that Ravenna opens to the world no longer as its heritage, but as an asset of the whole humanity.
BASILICA DI SANT’APOLLINARE NUOVO - Dopo la partenza davanti al MAR, Museo d’Arte di Ravenna, a pochi passi dalla basilica di S. Maria in Porto, il primo sito UNESCO che il percorso tocca è la Basilica di Sant’Apollinare Nuovo. Fatta erigere da Teodorico accanto al suo palazzo, fu in origine adibita a Chiesa palatina, di culto ariano. Secondo la tradizione, nel IX secolo le reliquie di Sant’Apollinare furono traslate qui dalla Basilica di Classe e in quell’occasione ricevette la sua intitolazione a Sant’Apollinare, detta «Nuovo» per distinguerla da un’altra chiesa dallo stesso nome. Al suo interno la meravigliosa decorazione di mosaico parietale bizantino.
BASILICA DI SANT’APOLLINARE NUOVO - After leaving in front of the MAR, Art Museum of Ravenna, a few steps from the Basilica of S. Maria in Porto, the first UNESCO site that the route reaches is the Basilica of Sant ‘Apollinare Nuovo. Built by Teodorico next to his palace, it was originally used as a Palatine church, of Arian worship. According to tradition, in the ninth century the relics of Sant’Apollinare were moved here from the Basilica di Classe and on that occasion received its dedication to Sant’Apollinare, called «Nuovo» to distinguish it from another church of the same name. Inside, the marvelous Byzantine wall mosaic decoration.
MAUSOLEO DI TEODORICO - Dopo aver superato la Darsena di Città e il Moro di Venezia, circa al quinto km si può ammirare il Mausoleo di Teodorico, fatto costruire dallo stesso Teodorico nel 520 d.C. come propria sepoltura, interamente realizzato in blocchi di pietra d’Istria. La costruzione si articola in due ordini sovrapposti, entrambi decagonali. Al di sopra del Mausoleo si innalza una grande cupola monolitica, coronata da dodici anse recanti i nomi di otto Apostoli e di quattro Evangelisti.
MAUSOLEO DI TEODORICO - After passing the Darsena di Città and the Moro di Venezia, around the fifth km you can admire the Mausoleum of Theodoric, built by Teodorico himself in 520 AD as its own burial, made entirely of blocks of Istrian stone. The construction is divided into two superimposed orders, both decagonal. Above the mausoleum there is a large monolithic dome, crowned by twelve loops bearing the names of eight Apostles and four Evangelists.
BATTISTERO DEGLI ARIANI - Nel centro storico il percorso incontra il Battistero degli Ariani. L’edificio, interrato per circa 2,3 metri, ha forma ottagonale e presenta quattro piccole absidi all’esterno. Al suo interno l’unica parte ancora decorata è la cupola rivestita di mosaici raffiguranti il corteo dei dodici apostoli e il battesimo di Cristo, immerso nell’acqua fino ai fianchi. MAUSOLEO DI GALLA PLACIDIA - Il percorso della Maratona prosegue sino a sfiorare il Mausoleo di Galla Placidia. Un edificio che emana un’atmosfera magica. Le innumerevoli stelle della cupola hanno colpito nel corso dei secoli la fantasia e la sensibilità dei visitatori tanto che si narra che Cole Porter, in viaggio di nozze a Ravenna, rimase talmente colpito dall’atmosfera del piccolo Mausoleo e dalle sue stelle, da comporre la sua famosissima canzone Night and Day. BASILICA DI SAN VITALE - Pochi metri ed ecco la Basilica di San Vitale, uno dei monumenti più importanti dell’arte paleocristiana in Italia. Fondata su ordine del vescovo Ecclesio, la basilica a pianta ottagonale fu consacrata nel 548 dall’arcivescovo Massimiano. All’interno magnifiche decorazioni musive nell’abside, e affreschi barocchi nella cupola. CAPPELLA DI S. ANDREA - Proseguendo si arriva dinanzi al Duomo, cattedrale relativamente recente costruita tra il 1734 e il 1745, sede dell’Arcidiocesi di Ravenna e Cervia. Nel vicino Palazzo Arcivescovile è situata la Cappella di S. Andrea, unico esempio di cappella arcivescovile paleocristiana giunta integra a noi, costruita da Pietro II e dedicata originariamente a Cristo. In seguito intitolata a Sant’Andrea, le cui reliquie erano state trasportate da Costantinopoli a Ravenna nel VI secolo. BATTISTERO NEONIANO - Costeggiando il Duomo si transita davanti al Battistero Neoniano, edificato probabilmente attorno agli inizi del V secolo. Al tempo del vescovo Neone fu oggetto di importanti lavori di restauro che portarono al rifacimento della cupola, ma soprattutto alla realizzazione della decorazione interna che oggi possiamo ammirare. BASILICA DI SANT’APOLLINARE IN CLASSE - Al 15esimo km si approda alla Basilica di Sant’Apollinare in Classe, definita il più grande esempio di basilica paleocristiana. Nonostante le spoliazioni subite nel corso dei secoli, la chiesa preserva la bellezza della struttura originaria ed è ammirata per gli splendidi mosaici policromi del suo catino absidale e gli antichi sarcofagi marmorei degli arcivescovi lungo le navate. ALTRI PUNTI DI INTERESSE SUL PERCORSO E IN CITTÀ - Tomba di Dante Alighieri, Piazza del Popolo, Antico Porto di Classe, Rocca Brancaleone, Domus dei Tappeti di Pietra, Biblioteca Classense, Torre civica e alcuni fra i più famosi musei del territorio.
BATTISTERO DEGLI ARIANI - In the historic center the route meets the Arian Baptistery. The building, underground for about 2.3 meters, has an octagonal shape and has four small apses outside. Inside the only part still decorated is the dome covered with mosaics depicting the procession of the twelve apostles and the baptism of Christ, immersed in water up to the sides. MAUSOLEUM OF GALLA PLACIDIA - The path of the Marathon continues until it touches the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia. A building that exudes a magical atmosphere. The innumerable stars of the dome have impressed over the centuries the imagination and sensitivity of visitors, so much so that it is said that Cole Porter, during a honeymoon in Ravenna, was so struck by the atmosphere of the small mausoleum and its stars, that it composed the his famous song Night and Day. BASILICA OF SAN VITALE - A few meters away is the Basilica of San Vitale, one of the most important monuments of early Christian art in Italy. Founded by Bishop Ecclesio, the octagonal basilica was consecrated in 548 by Archbishop Massimiano. Inside, magnificent mosaic decorations in the apse, and baroque frescoes in the dome. CHAPEL OF ST. ANDREA - Then we arrive in front of the Cathedral, a relatively recent cathedral built between 1734 and 1745, venue of the archdiocese of Ravenna and Cervia. In the nearby Archiepiscopal Palace there is the Chapel of St. Andrew, the only example of an early Christian archiepiscopal chapel that has survived intact, built by Peter II and originally dedicated to Christ. Later dedicated to St. Andrew, whose relics had been transported from Constantinople to Ravenna in the sixth century. NEONIAN BAPTISTERY - Walking along the Duomo you pass in front of the Neonian Baptistery, probably built around the beginning of the 5th century. At the time of Bishop Neone it was the object of important restoration work that led to the rebuilding of the dome, but above all to the realization of the interior decoration that we can admire today. BASILICA DI SANT’APOLLINARE IN CLASSE - At the 15th km you arrive at the Basilica of Sant ‘Apollinare in Classe, defined as the largest example of an early Christian basilica. Despite the plundering suffered over the centuries, the church preserves the beauty of the original structure and is admired for the splendid polychrome mosaics of its apsidal basin and the ancient marble sarcophagi of the archbishops along the aisles. OTHER POINTS OF INTEREST ON THE ROUTE AND IN THE CITY - Dante Alighieri Tomb, Piazza del Popolo, Ancient Port of Classe, Rocca Brancaleone, Domus of the Stone Carpets, Classense Library, Civic Tower and some of the most famous museums in the area.

Dalle fonti scritte, si sa che il Re ostrogoto Teodorico risiedesse in un palazzo maestoso in una zona della città che era già stata scelta dai suoi predecessori come sede della corte imperiale. Collocata all’interno della settecentesca Chiesa di Santa Eufemia, in un vasto ambiente sotterraneo situato a circa 3 metri sotto il livello stradale, è costituita da 14 ambienti pavimentati con mosaici policromi e marmi appartenenti ad un edificio privato bizantino del V-VI secolo. PALAZZO DI TEODORICO The name of Palazzo di Teodorico commonly refers to the architectural remains of a building located along Via di Roma, at the intersection with Via Alberoni, near the Basilica of Sant’Apollinare Nuovo. From written sources, it is known that the Ostrogothic king Theodoric resided in a majestic palace in an area of the city that had already been chosen by his predecessors as the seat of the imperial court. CRIPTA RASPONI E GIARDINI PENSILI La cripta dei conti Rasponi, insieme al giardino pensile che gli sale attorno, è tutto ciò che resta del palazzo edificato nel 1600 per l’omonima famiglia patrizia di ravennati che vi abitò fino alla fine dell’800. Successivamente fu venduto come albergo, ma l’edificio andò distrutto in un incendio nel 1922. Da allora, al suo posto, sorge un altro edificio, in stile neoromantico, in cui ha trovato sede la rappresentanza e gli uffici della Provincia. CRYPT RASPONI AND HANGING GARDENS The crypt of the Rasponi counts, together with the hanging garden that rises around it, is all that remains of the building built in 1600 for the patrician family of the same name from Ravenna who lived there until the end of the 1800s. It was later sold as a hotel, but the building was destroyed in a fire in 1922. Since then, in its place, another building has been built, in a neo-romantic style, in which the representation and offices of the Province have been located. DOMUS DEI TAPPETI DI PIETRA The Domus dei Tappeti di Pietra is one of the most important Italian archaeological sites discovered in recent decades. Inaugurated in 2002, it was awarded the 2004 Bell’Italia Prize and the 2017 Francovich Prize. Located inside the eighteenth-century Church of Santa Eufemia, in a vast underground environment located about 3 meters below street level, it consists of 14 rooms paved with polychrome mosaics and marble belonging to a private Byzantine building of the 5th-6th century. THE MEDAL As for the Tokyo Olympics medals. As for the European Football Championships. As with many postponed events from 2020 to 2021.
Anche la famosa e bellissima medaglia della Hoka Maratona di Ravenna Città d’Arte 2021 riporterà sul retro quella che era la data prevista in origine per l’edizione dell’anno scorso, annullata in seguito all’emergenza sanitaria e, nel nostro caso, sostituita con la staffetta simbolica #weareravenna: 8 Novembre 2020. La medaglia 2020 era stata pensata come omaggio anticipato alle celebrazioni dantesche, che proprio quest’anno sono state organizzate a Ravenna per ricordare i 700 anni dalla morte di Dante Alighieri (1321-2021). Una medaglia ancora attualissima dato che proprio in queste settimane si svolgono in tutta Italia ancora tanti eventi culturali dedicati a Dante. Una medaglia pensata per un’occasione e che verrà consegnata in un’altra. Grran parte delle medaglie per la Maratona 2020, tutte rigorosamente assemblate a mano nel laboratorio Annafietta con la tecnica bizantina che prevede le tessere del mosaico ad angolo vivo, erano già state realizzate in vista dell’edizione dello scorso anno. Oggi però quella data 8 Novembre 2020 racchiude in sé anche un elemento più profondo e importante che renderà ogni singolo pezzo un oggetto da collezione, unico nel suo genere e ancor più prezioso: la memoria. Già, la memoria. Perché non possiamo e non vogliamo cancellare quello che è accaduto. Non dimenticheremo mai la pandemia da Covid-19 e non dimenticheremo mai chi, oggi, non c’è più e non potrà essere al nostro fianco per nuove avventure. Il 14 Novembre 2021 tutti i finisher delle tre distanze da 42, 21 e 10 km, riceveranno la loro medaglia nelle rispettive dimensioni e girandola leggeranno 8 Novembre 2020. Un giorno nel quale nessuno aveva voglia di sorridere e che sembra lontanissimo, ricordato oggi con fiducia e ottimismo. Guardiamo avanti, pronti a correre ed a tornare a vivere mille emozioni insieme!

On November 14, 2021 all the finishers of the three distances of 42, 21 and 10 km, will receive their medal in their respective dimensions and when they turn it they will read 8 November 2020. A day in which no one wanted to smile and that seems very far away, remembered today with confidence and optimism. We look forward, ready to run and to go back to experiencing a thousand emotions together!

This is the strongest message that the 2021 HOKA ONE ONE T-shirt of the Ravenna City of Art Marathon transmits. I NUOVI ANGELI CUSTODI AI TEMPI DEL COVID
Una novità, ma soprattutto la volontà di programmare con attenzione ogni singolo dettaglio relativo alla sicurezza, senza sottovalutare nessun aspetto. Ravenna Runners Club ha studiato diversi accorgimenti per garantire il massimo rispetto di tutti i protocolli previsti contro la diffusione del Covid non solo prima e dopo la gara, non solo nella fase di avvicinamento e in quella di deflusso, ma anche durante la corsa. Ecco i nuovi angeli custodi dei runner che sceglieranno di mettersi alla prova sulle strade di Ravenna il 14 Novembre: i RACE CONTROLLER. Ogni gruppo che partirà “a ondate” distanziate da Via di Roma avrà tra i componenti anche i suoi Race Controller che correranno insieme agli atleti e, sia nel percorso dei 42K che in quello dei 21K, aiuteranno a mantenere le giuste distanze, evitando che i runner si avvicinino tra di loro o non rispettino le linee guida dettate dalle autorità competenti. Messi in stand by per qualche tempo gli amatissimi Pacer, figure che gli attuali protocolli non prevedono, a Ravenna correranno comunque gli incaricati di Ravenna Runners Club, che saranno facilmente individuabili grazie ad una t-shirt arancione pensata appositamente per loro e vigileranno sul percorso accompagnando gli atleti dalla partenza sino all’arrivo. Non potranno dettare il ritmo della corsa e fungere da supporto sulla velocità di gara, ma garantiranno sicurezza e tranquillità, affinché tutti gli iscritti possano godere appieno delle emozioni dell’evento e divertirsi senza particolari patemi. Un modo nuovo e in stile Covid per mettere a disposizione “sentinelle col sorriso” che saranno un po’ gli angeli custodi dei runner a Ravenna.

Ravenna Runners Club planned various measures to ensure maximum compliance with all the protocols provided against the spread of Covid not only before and after the race, not only in the approach and in the outflow phase, but also during the race. Here they are the new guardian angels of runners who will choose to test themselves on the streets of Ravenna on November 14th: the RACE CONTROLLERS. Each group that will start “in waves” spaced apart from Via di Roma will have among its members also its Race Controllers who will run together with the athletes and, both in the 42K and in the 21K path, will help to keep the right distances, avoiding that the runners come close to each other or do not respect the guidelines dictated by the competent authorities. Once the beloved Pacers have been put on stand by for some time in Ravenna, the representatives of Ravenna Runners Club will run with a new function (Pacers are not included in the current protocols). they will be easily identifiable thanks to an oranage t-shirt designed specifically for them and will monitor the course accompanying the athletes from start to finish. THE IPE WOOD WALKWAY OF THE DOCKYARD, SYMBOL OF A CITY SUSPENDED BETWEEN LAND AND SEA
Intorno al km 3 del percorso della Hoka Maratona di Ravenna e della Half Marathon, e verso il km 2 della Martini Good Morning Ravenna, il fiume colorato dei suoi partecipanti, transiterà nell’area della Darsena di Città dove tutti potranno ammirare dal vivo la passerella realizzata in legno che scorre a fianco del braccio di mare che si addentra sin quasi a lambire il centro storico. Un progetto di rigenerazione urbana che ha visto coinvolta Ravaioli Legnami, l’azienda romagnola leader in Italia nel settore delle pavimentazioni e dei rivestimenti in legno per esterni, e che ha consentito la creazione di uno spazio esclusivo per cittadini e turisti, evidenziando il carattere di una città da sempre sospesa tra terra e mare. La passerella è stata realizzata mediante una struttura di acciaio zincato rivestita in legno Ipè, essenza sudamericana fornita da Ravaioli Legnami apprezzata per le sue caratteristiche di resistenza e flessibilità, in grado di fornire prestazioni elevate anche in ambienti marini come quello del Canale Candiano, contraddistinti da sensibili variazioni di umidità. Le doghe del legno, a sezione 25x90 mm e lato a vista zigrinato, sono posate con viti a vista su di una sottostruttura in alluminio. Lungo il percorso completato si trovano panchine, alberi e piante decorative. Una sorta di salotto arricchito da leggii che riportano suggestioni sulla città firmate dai grandi della letteratura. The wooden deck boards with section 25x90mm and ribbed visible side, are installed using visible screws on an aluminium substructure. Along the entire path there are benches, trees and decorative plants. A sort of living room enriched by lecterns that bring back suggestions on the city signed by the major literary figures. Tutti gli iscritti, previa compilazione ed invio del modulo che potete trovare nel sito, possono affidarsi gratuitamente al servizio di “Marathon Baby Parking”, i professionisti della Salute dell’Ordine TSRM PSTRP si occuperanno di intrattenere i bambini, mentre i loro genitori corrono sulle strade di Ravenna. Uno spazio appositamente creato per i nostri bambini in cui professionisti che lavorano nell’ambito educativo aiuteranno i vostri piccoli ad esplorare le loro potenzialità attraverso percorsi sensoriali ed attività di gioco. Ingredienti: 10 uova 600 grammi di parmigiano reggiano 400 di pangrattato 100 di farina Noce moscata Brodo di carne Ingredients: 10 eggs 600 grams of Parmesan cheese 400 of breadcrumbs 100 of flour nutmeg Meat broth
PASSATELLI IN BRODO In una ciotola capiente uniamo pangrattato, parmigiano, farina e li amalgamiamo bene. A parte sbattiamo leggermente le uova aromatizzandole con una generosa grattata di noce moscata. A questo punto aggiungiamo le uova agli ingredienti secchi e impastiamo aiutandoci con una spatola oppure a mano fino ad ottenere un panetto compatto e omogeneo lasciandolo poi riposare coperto un’oretta. A questo punto dividere l’impasto in palline e usando lo schiacciapatate tagliarli della misura di proprio gradimento. Questo ultimo procedimento si può fare direttamente sulla pentola dove nel frattempo avrete portato ad ebollizione il brodo precedentemente preparato. I passatelli sono cotti quando vengono a galla.
