The musicians are to sit on the floor in a closed circle. Ideally amongst the audience, or at least as close the audience as possible. An atmosphere of intimacy amongst the musicians, which the audience is cut off from even though they are very close to it, is desired. The glockenspiels and the toy piano should not be amplified. The piece is therefore extremely soft throughout.
