Message from the Mayor

Some of my earliest and favorite memories growing up are times at summer camp. Summer in Newmarket is all about adventure, learning and making memories – and our camps are the perfect way to experience it all!

This year, we’re excited to share an incredible lineup of camps for ages 4 to 19. Whether your camper loves sports, science and coding, the arts, or leadership, there’s a camp designed to spark their curiosity.

Newmarket camps provide a summer of fun memories and create opportunities for growth in a safe, welcoming environment. Campers will build new friendships, discover new passions, and enjoy unforgettable experiences right here in our community.

How to Register

ONLINE IN-PERSON

It’s easy, secure and the fastest way to register for a program!

What You Need:

• Xplor account login (reset via “Forgot Password” if needed).

• Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, or account credit.

• Camp ID.

• Camper Information:

• Emergency contact name & phone.

• Camper details (disabilities, accommodations, medical conditions, dietary restrictions, or allergies).

What to do:

1. Go to the Activity tab and click Registration.

2. Use filters or enter the camp ID in the Keyword search bar, or scroll to the Summer Camps box to browse categories.

3. Select Register or Waitlist, depending on availability.

4. Complete the Camper Information Questionnaire (once per registration) with as much detail as possible.

5. Enter your payment details.

6. Print your confirmation and receipt.

7. View your activities under the Schedule section of your account.

NON-RESIDENTS

Non–residents are subject to a 30% surcharge for each camp.

Visit one of our Customer Service Kiosks* during business hours. This registration method reduces your chances of getting into the programs of your choice as programs fill up quickly.

REMINDERS

The date range filter is automatically set to only show camps that fall within the next 6 months. Please adjust your filter until the end of August to ensure you don’t miss out on the camps running during the last 4 weeks of the summer!

CAMPER PAPERWORK

• Weekly Activity Forecasts.

SAFE DISMISSAL PROCEDURES

• Authorized individuals must sign campers in/out daily. Photo ID required daily.

• Only those on the Safe Dismissal Consent Form (SDC) can sign out campers.

• Campers under 9 should be signed out by an authorized adult.

• Written consent is required for early or self-sign-out.

LATE FEE POLICY

• $5.00 per 5 minutes late.

• Fees payable within 48 hours online or at a Customer Service Desk to return to camp

ABSENT & MEDICATIONS

• Notify Camp Central if your camper will be absent or late.

• Medications (e.g., epi-pens) must be in original packaging with dosage and self-administered by the camper. Submit medical forms to the Camp Director with time of administration indicated.

• Campers requiring lifesaving medication (e.g. seizure medication, epi-pen) must bring it with them, daily, to attend camp.

NUT-FREE POLICY

• No food that contain or may contain traces of nuts/peanuts (i.e. items from Tim Hortons), as well as soy butter

• Prohibited items will be returned at pick-up.

CAMPER BEHAVIOUR

Campers must:

• Respect others and follow staff instructions.

• Use kind language and keep hands to themselves.

• Stay with their group & have fun!

• Be indepedent in toileting & changing

Inappropriate behaviour (e.g., bullying, aggression) may result in dismissal.

Withdrawals can be done 7 or more days prior to the start of the camp either online at newmarket.perfectmind.com or through our online form.

Refund Policy

Q: Will I receive a full refund for a medical reason?

A: You may withdraw at any time with medical documentation. All refunds/credits will be prorated.

Q: Will a refund request be considered after camp has ended?

A: Unfortunately, requests submitted after the camp has ended will not be considered.

Q: Will a refund be issued if my child misses a day of camp?

A: In the event that you are unable to attend camp, a refund or credit will not be provided unless medical documentation is provided.

Q: My camp was cancelled – will I receive a refund?

A: Yes, you will receive a full credit or refund back to your account within 5-10 business days.

Q: The camp has already started – am I too late to register my child?

A: Registration closes at 11:59 p.m. the Thursday before each week of camp. Please contact Camp Central to complete a late registration. Please note, not all camps allow late registrations.

MEET LEAH! INCLUSION FACILITATOR, SUMMER 2025

Leah has worked multiple positions with the Town of Newmarket over the past 5 years, starting as an Inclusion Counsellor in Training and working her way up to a Float Director. Throughout these years, she has also worked as a Program Instructor, RYC Kiosk Receptionist and Events Assistant, while beginning her studies in Speech Language Pathology.

She brings a genuine passion for working with children and youth to work each day, while ensuring every camper feels a sense of safety and belonging. This shows in the creative and inclusive programming she brings to the community!

Leah’s commitment, leadership and positive attitude always shines through, creating memorable experiences for campers in her care.

Regular camp hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sign in will begin at 9:00 a.m. and all campers must be signed out by 4:00 p.m. to avoid a late fee. Extended Care is available at an additional cost for campers 4 to 12 years old who need care before and/or after these hours

Inclusion & Support Services

The Town of Newmarket is dedicated to ensuring all campers have a successful camp experience. There are times when a child requires more support than our program ratios are able to provide. In these cases, we strongly recommend consulting with us about our support options and adapted camps.

How do I know if additional support is required?

Additional support is required if:

• Extra support is required at school

• A disability exists that could affect the safety of the participant or other participants

• Extra support is required at home for basic care (i.e. toileting, changing, mobility, feeding)

• Participant is associated with a support agency and/or program

• Participant has a safety plan with their educational institution

• There are behaviours to be managed (ie. biting, scratching, pinching, eloping, etc.)

Families are required to complete an All About Me Package, and in some cases provide any existing safety plans to help camp staff with program adaptations and overall success. When considering a recreation experience, please consider the individual’s needs, and that the recreation integrated setting may not be suitable for all persons. Health and Safety of participants and staff is paramount, which could result in participants being denied access to the program.

Adapted Camps

Adapted Camps are specifically designed programs for campers with disabilities and unique needs. These programs will feature smaller group sizes, smaller staff ratios (1:3 staff to participants), a sensory aware environment, and more targeted and individualized programming activities. Please see the “Adapted” section of this guide for more information on our adapted preschool, children & youth Camps!

Inclusion 1:1 Support

The Town of Newmarket provides Inclusion 1:1 Support to campers with disabilities and unique needs at no additional cost to families (camp fees still apply) in order for them to be integrated and successfully participate in camps. Support is not guaranteed and is offered on a first-come first-serve basis. Families are required to register into the corresponding “Inclusion 1:1 Support Request” Code to request a 1:1 Support Staff (see below for weekly codes). Prior to the camp season, the Recreation Programmer will contact families directly to confirm their staff support.

Please Note: There may be cases when we may ask an individual be paired with a support person if we deem necessary based on safety concerns for the individual, camp group, and/or Town of Newmarket Staff.

INTEGRATED

Inclusion-trained, Town of Newmarket staff will be present to:

• Provide 1:1 support in mainstream camp of up to 40 other campers

• Adapt daily activities to suit the camper’s needs

• Provide emotional and social support

• Manage behaviours through verbal and visual prompting

• Assist with basic care (i.e. toileting, changing, mobility, feeding, etc.)

ADAPTED

• Specifically designed camp for children and youth with disabilities and unique needs

• Modified ratios (1:3)

• Smaller group sizes with a maximum of 10 campers

• Sensory aware & quieter environment

• Targeted activities to support different abilities, interests and learning styles

• Focus on building independence, confidence and social connections in a safe setting

Inclusion 1:1 Support Request

Inclusion 1:1 Support is a service (not a camp) that is offered to campers with disabilities and unique needs in order to participate fully and successfully in camps. By registering in this service, you are requesting a Town of Newmarket Inclusion Facilitator to work 1:1 with your camper with a disability. Please register into the weeks of 1:1 support that correspond to the child’s registered camp. Please note, this is only a request process. A camper’s Inclusion 1:1 Support Staff will be confirmed by the Town of Newmarket Inclusion team.

Can I provide my own inclusion support?

Yes, families may provide their own support (family member, friend, trained support worker or social worker). A Vulnerable Sector Screening and a signed release of liability form is required prior to entering the camp space. The support worker is required to participate in all activities as a positive role model for the participants and adhere to Town of Newmarket Policies and Procedures.

This daily drop-in program gives children an opportunity to engage and socialize in a safe and friendly atmosphere. Staff will lead small groups through a variety of games, sports, arts and crafts, and outdoor activities which are designed for participants to have fun. Participants should bring a water bottle, hat, sun protection, and close toed shoes. In the case of inclement weather or extreme heat, the program will move indoors to Terry Fox Public School’s gymnasium.

Please note: Maximum 25 participants per session. This program will operate on a firstcome first-serve basis - only walk-ins permitted. Drop-ins will no longer be accepted after 9:30 a.m. for the morning session or 1:30 p.m. for the afternoon session.

All participants must fill out our Kids on the Move Participant Information Form. This form only needs to be filled out once for the entire summer! If you are unable to print the form out beforehand, a blank form will be provided to you on-site. Campers will dive into a world of exploration and discovery, as they embark on daily excursions along the Tom Taylor Trail and Fairy Lake. Each day brings a new adventure – from searching for bugs and flowers, learning about different forest animals, scavenger hunts, nature arts & crafts, gardening and outdoor camp games, which are designed for participants to have fun. Campers will also enjoy Community Centre & Lions Hall’s splash pad three times each week, and a special guest once a week. Don’t forget your sunscreen and hat, as majority of the day will be spent outdoors!

Seeking a week packed with adventure, friends and nonstop fun? Camp Quest is calling! With action-filled games, creative crafts, camp songs and team challenges, this camp does it all and offers something for everyone. Get ready for three recreational swims, two special guests and rock climbing each week. Campers will also enjoy weekly visits to the Newmarket Public Library and private access to the Recreation Youth Centre lobby games, including shuffleboard, skeeball, air hockey and more! This ultimate adventure will end with an unforgettable themed event to wrap up the week.

Get ready to explore further than ever before! Campers will embark on FIVE full-day trips across the GTA, exploring some of the city’s most thrilling destinations. Imagine discovering underwater wonders at Ripley’s Aquarium, adventuring through Funvilla’s trampoline park and ninja course, stepping back in time at the AGO, getting active at the ROC, and coming face-to-face with the wildlife at the Toronto Zoo! Each day promises new experiences, laughter and memories to last a lifetime. Admission fees are included.

Delivered in partnership with Kids Great Minds Dive into a world where every idea can become an app! Campers bring imagination to life by creating smart apps that respond to touch, talk, and location, like a Daily Mood Tracker, an Event Countdown, and a Daily Voice Assistant, a hands-free organizer that listens and acts. They’ll design, code, and refine their own creations, watching them come alive instantly on their phones. Each project connects creativity, coding, and real-world technology in fresh, exciting ways that turn ideas into real mobile experiences.

ARCHAEOLOGY & CASTLE DEFENSE

Delivered in partnership with Robothink Travel back in time to the age of knights, castles, and ancient civilizations! Our Archaeology & Castle Defense Summer Camp offers young adventurers a unique blend of history, archaeology, and medieval strategy. Campers will dig for ancient artifacts, uncover the secrets of lost civilizations, and then put their newfound knowledge to the test by defending a medieval fortress from invaders. With hands-on excavation, historical storytelling, and castle defense strategies, this camp is perfect for history buffs and future archaeologists alike! Signature Builds: catapults, drawstring bridges, portcullis & autonomous patrol cart.

Let’s get crafty! Join us for a week of visual arts and crafts, where campers will enjoy drawing, sketching, painting and so much more! Staff will guide campers through two crafts per day, while encouraging them to put their own unique spin on their one-of-a-kind work. Campers will enjoy a special guest and three recreational swims per week (or three water days during week 9 due to the Magna Pool closure). This camp wraps up with a ‘Juice & Cheesie’ Art Show on Friday at 3 p.m. for friends and family.

ART STUDIO CAMP

Ages 9 – 13 Years

Old Town Hall

Join us for a mature and creative learning environment tailored to pre-teens passionate about visual arts. Young artists will be exposed to a variety of art mediums throughout the week, including watercolours, acrylics, sculpture, paper mâché, mosaics, cartooning, sketching, and pen and ink. With guidance from our staff, campers will refine their artistic skills and add their own personalized touch to their pieces. Campers will also enjoy one recreational swim, and special guest OR trip to a local art studio each week. The camp will end with an Art Gallery for friends and family on Friday at 3 p.m., to showcase creations made throughout the week.

CARTOON COMPUTER ANIMATION

Ages 6 – 12 Years

Crossland Public School

Delivered in partnership with Kids Great Minds Kids will discover how easy and exciting animation can be, with projects designed to get their creations moving on screen within minutes. Throughout the camp, they’ll explore the 12 Principles of Animation, the same timeless techniques used by professional animators to make characters more expressive and realistic. This camp helps every child unlock their inner animator and spark their imagination, building confidence to create and express their ideas. The animated projects will be emailed to parents the following week.

COMMUNITY HEROES CAMP

In partnership with the Ontario SPCA & Humane Society, York Region Police, Central York Fire Services and York Region Paramedic Services, campers will be introduced to the life of our community heroes! Campers will enjoy daily special guest visits and one local trip, where they will learn more about the exciting world of a veterinarian, police officer, firefighter and paramedic. They will get the chance to meet real-life heroes, try out equipment, and experience what it takes to step into these essential roles. Through interactive activities, hands-on demonstrations, and team challenges, campers will learn what it takes to protect and help others. Campers will leave the week with a sense of leadership and responsibility, while inspiring the next generation of everyday heroes!

COUNSELLOR IN TRAINING

Are you interested in preparing to become a successful camp counsellor? In this course, you will learn about program planning, games and resources, behaviour management strategies and more. Standard First Aid and CPR-C, Safeguard, and HIGH FIVE: Principles of Healthy Child Development certifications included. Certificates are only given to those who have 100% attendance and receive a passing grade during their final practical and written exams. This course includes a 2-week in class portion, followed by a volunteer placement for successful candidates at a Town of Newmarket Summer Camp. Placements will be coordinated on site with the Camp Director. Note: there are no prerequisites for this course.

JUNIOR LIFEGUARD

Dive into the exciting world of lifeguarding at this one-week camp! Improve your skills, your strokes, make new friends, get fit and have fun! Jr Lifeguard emphasizes improving overall fitness and endurance along with promoting teamwork, leadership, and lifesaving knowledge through fun aquatic lifesaving-based activities. Throughout the week, campers will work with their teammates to develop a water safety community education project. Swimmers must be able to swim 25m of the pool and be comfortable in deep water.

LEADER IN TRAINING

Step up and make a difference! This one-week course empowers Leaders in Training (LITs) to develop essential leadership skills, while introducing them to the world of camps. Through fun, hands-on activities and real-life projects, LITs will learn about problem solving, professionalism, inclusion, communication and teamwork – core skills that will set them up for success at camp and beyond! They’ll also explore topics such as, conflict resolution, goal setting, action planning and leading younger campers. Throughout the week, Leaders in Training will work as a group to put on a MiniEvent for Town of Newmarket Camps to attend at the end of the week. There is no placement.

DISCOVER CAMP

Delivered in partnership with Medics Camp Medics Camp Discover lets kids become doctors for a week through hands-on experiments and activities! Campers investigate germs, don and doff gloves, examine a pig heart, take vital signs with real equipment, practice dentistry learn first aid, skills, operate a fracture clinic, learn CPR, and even deliver babies. Recognized by STEM.org among the top 10% of STEM-accredited programs worldwide, every day at Medics Camp is a STEM powered journey through medical science, the human body, and the world of healthcare professionals.

The Town of Newmarket has a free Summer Camp Volunteer Training for youth looking to gain experience working with children and developing their leadership skills!

• When: Wednesday, June 3, 2026 from 4:30 to 8 p.m.

Successful candidates will be contacted regarding their one-week camp placement following the course and can use these hours towards their high school volunteer hours! Successful candidates are those that are actively listening and engaged during the entirety of the course, respectful towards other participants and the instructor, and show an interest in the volunteer position. Please come to class with the Volunteer Application filled out. This will be sent to participants prior to the course via email.

Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older by the start of the course.

Adapted Camps

Adapted Camps are specifically designed programs for campers with disabilities. These camps will feature small staff to participant ratios (1:3), smaller group sizes, a sensory aware environment, and specifically designed programming to meet the needs of all campers.

CAMP OHANA

Ages 13 – 19 Years

Youth with disabilities and unique needs are invited to Camp Ohana, an adapted camp focusing on independence, friendships, and social skills. The diverse program includes adapted play, water play/swimming, outdoor walks, special guests, and hands-on Life Skills. A 1:3 staff ratio is provided; those needing 1:1 support must register for Inclusion 1:1 Support.

ENDLESS ADVENTURE

Endless Adventure is a thoughtfully designed camp created to support the unique needs of preschool-aged children with disabilities. Our program offers a welcoming, safe, and nurturing environment where children can explore, learn, and grow through a variety of sensory-rich and developmentally appropriate activities. Every child has the opportunity to engage in meaningful and joyful experiences, allowing them to explore new challenges while being supported in a way that respects their unique pace and abilities. Whether it’s through handson crafts, interactive games, or group activities, Endless Adventure ensures that each child enjoys a fun, enriching experience every day. A 1:3 staff to participant ratio will be provided. Campers unable to participate in a 1:3 ratio and requiring 1:1 support must register into Inclusion 1:1 Support.

In this adapted camp for children with disabilities, campers will have the opportunity to explore all their five senses in an engaging and supported way. Participants will spend time connecting with nature, expelling energy and engaging in traditional camp activities and games. This camp will also feature water play/ swimming, outdoor picnics, crafting, dancing, adventures to the park and a featured special guest. A 1:3 staff to participant ratio will be provided. Campers unable to participate in a 1:3 ratio and requiring 1:1 support must register into Inclusion 1:1 Support.

The objective of this program is to offer increased opportunities to those who may require financial assistance that would not otherwise be able to participate in recreation.

Canadian Tire Jumpstart®

Canadian Tire Jumpstart® is a communitybased charitable program that helps kids aged 4 to 18 participate in organized sports and recreation such as hockey, dance, soccer and swimming, so they can develop important life skills, self-esteem and confidence.

Eligible – Newmarket Residents between the ages of 4 to 18

Criteria – Application + must demonstrate need for financial assistance with provision of proof of receiving subsidy (EI, OW, OH, GTRI, ODSP)

Frequency – Twice per annum (Jan-June and July-Dec)

Amount – Eligible 100% up to maximum of $200
