This text covers the topic: Case Studies: The United States and the World, 1945–1989, the compulsory Documents-based Question to be examined in 2028.

The case studies are:
■ The Montgomery bus boycott, 1956
■ Lyndon Johnson and Vietnam, 1963–1968
■ The moon landing, 1969


This book deals with these Case Studies separately from the rest of the Topic
Each Case Study starts with an essay which places it in its context
This is followed by a detailed account of the events of the Case Study


Finally there is a brief summary of subsequent developments influenced by the events of the Case Study


To help students become used to reading documents, each Case Study is accompanied by relevant documents and questions relating to these documents
For each Case Study there are four exam-type document questions so that students can become familiar with the way in which documents are treated in the Leaving Certificate History examination


Relevant key personalities and concepts are also included
