Festive fun planned in LCCC Preparations are well underway for Christmas in Lisburn and Castlereagh. The Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Alderman Amanda Grehan has launched the council’s exciting programme of free, inclusive and affordable family fun. It offers something for everyone, with a range of free events for all ages right across the council area. One of the biggest evenings in the social calendar is the Christmas Switch On event taking place on Thursday 20th November in Lisburn City Centre at 7.00pm. The Switch On event will ensure young adults with disabilities are part of the event. It will be an evening to remember with Santa, singing, an Enchanted Walk and, of course the beginning of the spectacular Lisburn Light Festival. Alderman Owen Gawith, Environment and Sustainability Chairman LCCC and David Morrow, Manager of Habitat ReStore, Lisburn launched the Pre-loved Christmas Toy Scheme at Habitat for Humanity recently

Give pre-loved toys a new story this Christmas This Christmas, LCCC are once again partnering with Habitat for Humanity to help local families and protect our planet through the Pre-loved Christmas Toy Scheme. Every year, many toys that are still in great condition are thrown away. By donating toys that are no longer played with, you can help another family create special memories, while reducing waste and saving valuable resources. Last year alone, the scheme diverted around 21 tonnes of toys from

landfill – proof that small actions really can make a big difference! Alderman Owen Gawith, Environment and Sustainability Chairman, said: “It’s fantastic to be working with Habitat for Humanity again this Christmas. Over the past four years, this simple idea of donating toys so

they can be loved again, has grown into a heartwarming local tradition. “It brings joy to families, strengthens our community and helps protect our environment. Please leave your donated toys at either one of the nominated council facilities or Habitat ReStore, Lisburn.” David Morrow, Manager

of Habitat ReStore, Lisburn said: “We’re delighted to continue our partnership with the council to help families access good-quality, preloved toys at affordable prices this Christmas.
