PCSP to Host Safety and Wellbeing Event A free safety and wellbeing event to provide advice on ways to improve your personal safety, health, and wellbeing will take place in Down Leisure Centre, Downpatrick on Monday 9 September 2024 from 10am to 2pm.

An integrated consultancy team has been appointed to deliver the Mourne Mountains Gateway Project visitor experience in Newcastle following confirmation of a £30 million Belfast Region City Deal Contract for Funding by the Department for the Economy. The Belfast office of global engineering consultancy Arup will lead the highly experienced project team, along with TODD Architects, Gleeds and Tandem Design. The £44 million Mourne

Mountains Gateway Project will comprise a visitor centre at the Thomas Quarry site in the Mourne Mountains, and a gondola experience, which will improve accessibility by allowing users to travel

sustainably and efficiently from Donard Park to the visitor centre. The Newry, Mourne and Down District Council led project will deliver a worldclass international visitor attraction, while developing

sustainable travel infrastructure to connect residents and visitors to the Mourne Mountains.

The event has been organised by Newry, Mourne and Down Policing & Community Safety Partnership (PCSP). The event, which is open to everyone, will feature over 25 information stands. Stands already confirmed for the event include information on drugs and alcohol use, financial support, general health, mental health support and information on local support services and groups in the district area. The Main Hall in Down Leisure Centre, Downpatrick will be open from 10am until 2pm and members of the public are encouraged to come along and engage first hand with local service providers. Chair of Newry, Mourne and Down PCSP Cllr Terry Andrews said, “In the face

of collective challenges such as the cost-of-living crisis, the PCSP believes it is crucial for the residents of Newry, Mourne, and Down to be aware of the local support available to them and how to access these resources to enhance their wellbeing and safety. We invite everyone to our free drop-in event on Monday 9 September at the Down Leisure Centre, Downpatrick.
