The Houston Port region continues to stand as one of the world’s most powerful engines of economic growth—and that progress is made possible by you.
Over the past 15 years, the region has secured 87 successful projects, creating 4,725 new jobs and generating more than $19.5 billion in capital investment. While the pace of growth has moderated from historic highs, our trajectory remains strong and forward-looking, reflecting the resilience and competitiveness of our regional economy.
Thanks to the collective efforts of our members, partners, and staff, the Economic Alliance advanced our key initiatives this past year:
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT - Supported three project wins that resulted in 31 new direct jobs and $325 million in capital investment, while also supporting 1,007 indirect jobs, $314 million in labor income, and generating a one-time economic impact of $235 million.
PRIORITIES FOR GROWTH - A leadership delegation represented the Houston Port region in Washington, D.C., holding 34 meetings with Senate, Congressional, and association leaders to advance federal policy priorities. We also compiled and presented state policy priorities during the 89th Texas Legislative Session.
INFRASTRUCTURE UPGRADES - Working alongside the Texas House Speaker and TxDOT, we advocated for the study, funding, and redevelopment of SH 225, I-610, and all eight Beltway direct connectors—the transportation corridors most critical to our region’s long-term success.
MARKETING CAREER PATHWAYS - Continued to promote career opportunities in petrochemical, maritime, logistics, construction, and manufacturing fields. Through 57 presentations and campus visits, we reached 3,875 students and influencers, supported by 103 volunteers and participating companies.
COMMUNITY BEAUTIFICATION - Through a matching grant in partnership with the San Jacinto Texas Historic District, we supported projects that enhance public safety, beautification, and community engagement.
OUTLOOKS & FORECASTS - Our thought leadership efforts included nine events that drew 3,240 attendees, with an average of 360 participants per event, providing timely insight into key trends and challenges facing our industries.
