TELEVISION GUIDE Wednesday October 3, to Tuesday October 9, 2012 Highlights this week 1. Director Peter Bogdanovich is at the top of his game with the 1973 hit Paper Moon (ABC2, Saturday, 8.30pm), a poignant black-and-white comedy/ drama which puts the talents of Ryan O’Neal and his delightful daughter Tatum to their best use as they commit fraud door-to-door across Depression America. Naturally the daughter begins to realise what a flawed character the father is, but forgiveness, acceptance and wicked fun are at the heart of their adventures. 2. The footy’s over, so here’s another means to veg out on a Sunday arvo: princess of the bonnet drama, Helena Bonham-Carter, stars in the 1991 film of E M Forster’s 1905 novel Where Angels Fear To Tread (7TWO, Sunday, 2pm). As is usual with Forster, buttoneddown English folk travel to delicious Tuscany and get themselves into trouble with the wild locals, as generations of autobiographers have done ever since. The scenery is beautiful, the costumes ravishing, and the acting appropriately British.
