Dear Parents, carers and all in the Chessington community,

YEAR 11

I hope that you had a lovely Bank Holiday weekend and half term break. School was still busy with some Year 11 students who took up the offer of revision sessions with their teachers ahead of the next 3 weeks of their GCSE exams

On Friday 23rd May we said a formal goodbye to the Class of 2025 in an excellent leavers assembly delivered by Miss Swaysland which had students and staff in laughter and tears in

The staff, well if I am honest the PE department, then took on the Yr 11’s in the annual football game and for the first time ever the staff won! It

staff that helped prepare all of the food and set up for these events, they couldn’t happen without you.

Exams continue and Year 11’s are expected to be in school every day to make the most of the very well prepared and planned sessions that their teachers will be delivering. I know that parents will support us with this

In Year 10 news Mr Power and Mrs Cooper have finalised the list of Prefects and Sports Lead Captains for 25/26 and they have already started their duties with the Year 6 meetings we had in the last week. Congratulations to you all!

TRIP TO GUARDIAN NEWSPAPER

Select Year 8 students recently embarked on a trip to the Guardian Newspaper to delve into the world of journalism. During this trip, students took part in an enlightening workshop, where students were granted a behind-thescenes look the process of creating the front page of a major publication. The highlight of the day was when students used their newfound knowledge to craft their own front page on a current topic of their choice

The workshop not only sparked creativity and enthusiasm among the our students but also provided them with a practical understanding of the journalistic world Thank you to Miss Rutledge for organising such an amazing trip

STAFF WELLBEING

To support staff well-being we held some activities for staff, Mr DuBock delivered an insightful session on stress relief strategies and Mr Ide hosted a pottery session where staff let their creative side come out - here are some photos from the afternoon Mr Power and Ms Griffiths went head to head on the pottery

STAFFING NEWS

In staffing news, we said goodbye to Mrs Opie our Office manager and PA who retired after 21 years of service here at Chessington. She will be greatly missed by the staff, she has been a huge support to many over her time here but I know that she will very much enjoy her retirement with her family.

We have r er and PA, Miss Cooper (not to be confused with our Deputy Head Mrs Cooper) who started with us this week. She will be a familiar face to any Lovelace parents as she worked in the office there for many years I know she will be a great asset to the Chessington team

Wishing yo
