Dear Parents, carers and all in the Chessington community
It has been a while since my last newsletter, exams and transitions events have taken over! When I last wrote we were about to head off on the ski trip to Italy with 80 students, a great time was had by all and memories made for life I would like to publicly thank all of the members of staff who gave up a week of their Easter holiday to ensure that our students had an awesome (& safe) time.
YEAR 11
Since we have been back this term it has been non stop for Year 11, they had all of their practical exams in PE, Art, Drama and Spanish speaking prior to the written papers starting last week. They have been fantastic with many of them in at 7am and still here at 5pm revision hard I am confident that their efforts will pay off This Friday the school will finish at 12pm so that we can formally celebrate the 5 years that the Year 11 students have been at Chessington, concluding with our annual Year 11 parent & student BBQ I look forward to celebrating with our families
The GCSE exams do continue after the half term break and there are holiday revision sessions being delivered by our wonderful teachers
YEAR 10
Year 10 sat their first set of Mock exams, their approach was commendable and I know that a huge amount of work planning and work will now go into the last half term to close the gaps that these exams highlighted so that they can do even better once in Year 11
Talking of Year 10, Mr Lucas has spent the last few weeks making the very difficult decision of his Prefect team. 50 students submitted an application and after many interviews Mr Lucas finally decided on the 13 prefects
I know that they will do a great job and represent the school brilliantly Their first task was this week with the new Year 7 meetings, they made the nervous Year 6’s feel very welcome.
It was wonderful to meet all of our Year 6 families and welcome them into our community I am confident that they will settle in very well and enjoy the next 5 (or 7) years with us.
