This is not a footnote I ever really thought I would be writing as Amanda had said for years that this cow had earned the right to spend her entire life here. Earlier this fall, we got to thinking that maybe it was time to let some other breeder or operation have this breed great roaming their pasture and impacting their program. Our program wouldn’t be where it is without other breeders making some of their top genetics available and if we are to return the favor by offering the best of the best, here she is. Of all the calf divisions we have been able to claim in Louisville since 2012, Stop And Stare progeny have accounted for 6 of them. Her daughter Stop & Wish was Reserve Champion Female in Kansas City and Denver as a calf. Another daughter, Stare & Believe, was Calf Champion in Denver. Every year, Stop And Stare offspring rise to the top in the Jewels sale commanding prices such as $45,000, $30,000 1/2 interest, $30,000, $28,000, $25,000, $25,500, $22,000, 19,000. Stop And Stare continues to work excellent in embryo production with her last 3 IVF collections resulting in 18, 16, 14 freezable embryos. Stop And Stare is currently open and ready to flush. It is going to be sad watching her hop on to some lucky new owners trailer December 1st but we look forward to seeing what she can do to propel someone’s program into the forefront of the Simmental business.

Here is another member of the mating that put Stop And Stare on the map in the Simmental business. Four full sisters have captured Calf Champion Divisions in Louisville and one was Reserve Champion Female in Kansas City and Denver 2 years ago. Try & Stop Me is more than ready to carry on the family tradition in the ring and in production. She has had her share of “What’s that one?!?!” comments this summer and fall. Colburn Primo offspring have been dominating the sale ring and show ring in the past couple years. Maybe the most impressive thing is the wide array of cows from various breeds that he flat out clicks with. This SimAngus™ female hits me as the show heifer producer in the bred heifer offering. Amazing hair, level hip, and great “stop & stare” presence. She is bred to the $48,000 Executive Order son, K-LER Kingsman, carrying a heifer calf. Kingsman is earning his reputation as a calving ease sire with his first calves on the ground this year. Full sister sold in the 2017 Jewels sale for $7,000 to the Ben Hawkins family and they have had a lot of fun with her in the show ring over the past 11 months.

After walking into the Chestnut Angus Denver pen a couple years ago, we knew we found the next Angus sire to flush Stop And Stare to. Flat in his joints, tremendous bone, soft pasterned and a look that made us just stop and stare at him for a few minutes. When we weaned last fall, we sorted the Knockout females right in to the pen for future breds with the agreement that we would not sort them back out to sell as opens and just save them to highlight as breds. I do recall a couple of the Knockout females finding their way up to the show barn and some “discussion” as to what they were doing in there. It was agreed they could stay and hang out but wouldn’t sell until they were breds. 754E is one, if I do recall, spending a fair share of time hanging out around the sale facility and has been a favorite since a young age. Who doesn’t love a perfect baldy with amazing balance in a maternal looking package. She is carrying an EO heifer calf according to her ultrasound. 759E is the powerhouse of the pair and sells bred early to Kingsman carrying a bull calf.

Stop & Wish, “Wishes”, was Reserve Overall in the American Royal as a baby and was a crowd favorite her entire show career. Truly a “wish come true” when we came out to the barn and Wishes was so excited to introduce us to her baby girl she had uneventfully and on her own. Weeks later, Wishes was rocking mom hood and I shot Claire Trennephol a snap that said….”Wanna show a pair at Junior Nationals?!?? Wishes and Wish Come True were 4th Overall Cow/Calf Pair this summer and little one only bloomed from there. Stop And Stare, Lookout and Executive Order? When Diamond Frosted first came home, Kinslee’s first comment was “Oreo!” Yep, when you breed baldy on baldly that can certainly happen and “Orie” has been a favorite ever since. They are so sweet dispositioned, great haired and just overall day brighteners when you work on ones built this flat good. Believe N Love, “Roxy”, is a full sister to the $52,000 Crazy 2 Believe owned by Trennepohl Farms and Prospect Cattle. After seeing how successful the Angus matings were on Blissful Kisses, we decided to go back and try it on her mom, Stella. This is one decision we should have made a long time ago. A few years ago, a very popular baldy female by the name of Enchantress sold at the Jewels sale for $40,000 to Hudson Pines and Tingle Farms. Our catalog is laid out by cow family, not by quality and the families run deep in this sale but the quality runs even deeper. I have no idea where this girl is going to end up cataloged, but whether it’s the front or the back, this one is really good! I think she’s one of the prettiest most complete breds we’ve ever produced. She’s got power and mass but yet is so elegant in her head and overall design. Not sure just how cold it’s going to get around here this winter but one look at the shag on this bred heifer has us a little concerned. One thing that makes us feel a little better is her full brother, HILB Border Patrol has even hairier. He was a member of our Denver pen a couple years ago and one of the most popular bulls we have ever brought to Denver. We could have sold him multiple times that year but John Lee of Lee Cattle, CO beat everyone to the punch and snapped him up for $25,000 within minutes of laying eyes on him. We tried to sex some of the bred heifers if possible last summer at ultrasound time and this one is suppose to be carrying an EO heifer calf.

Beautiful Angel is a really cute April heifer that has a world of potential. Her mother, Halo, was a cornerstone donor steaming back to the Sandeens Jasmine cow family, and is now production for Karrie Simmentals and Thyen Simmentals.
