2020, am I right? Hard to believe the craziness of this year has actually happened and as hard as “the rona” tried to wreck our year, it certainly put the ag community in the forefront of importance. As we approach the year end, we can certainly raise our glasses to toast a brighter 2021! Around here, field work is about done and we are starting to see a rally in the grain prices. Despite the brief appearance of a foot of snow, the fall had been dry and very pleasant! The girls are probably broke better than most years and this set of show heifers has really been fun to have in the barn. As you flip the pages of this catalog, you will see many fresh pedigrees backed by proven cow power. Everyone likes to say “this is their best set ever” but around here that phase isn’t just a goal, its mandatory to constantly make the next generation better. We won’t take up too much of your time in a letter this year and let the girls speak for themselves! We promise you will like what you see! Most heifers have good days and bad days…then there’s the heifers that have good days and even better days. Those are the kind that you check the pastures at least 3 times a day to make sure they are ok. Well, Dalilah got checked on at least 4-5 times a day between the two of us since the day she was born because we knew this one was going to be special. We tend to get a little wiggly when we talk about how the $45,000 Versace is going to come out swinging as a donor cow and Dalilah confirms why. If I would have known we were going to get asked “Soooo, what’s that 505 out there in the ET yard?” 47 times during our spring sale, I probably would have hidden her! There’s a program in Minnesota called the Minnesota Youth Beef Experience Program (MYBEP), where kids send in applications to “win” a heifer and breeders of a breeds donate 10-12 heifers each year at our Beef Expo to this program. Well, it was our turn for the Simmi’s and originally Macie May was going to be our donation heifer before life went into mass chaos from K’Rona Vyruss. She has always been a hairy little beast and Mark kept telling me to clip her out before I decided to donate her. Well, like always, he was right… she completely transformed after a couple spa days and with the cancellation of the Beef Expo, the decision to keep as a highlight for Jewels got real easy! Stemming from the multi-time National Champion Sandeens Jasmine cow family, Macie May definitely got her rear tires and back leg set from Jazzy. If you want one that set for the long-haul next fall and love to clip, she’s your gal!

We could not wait to get Undeniable Grace into production and these girls are definitely why. Fort Knox is about to be one of the hottest, must use bulls in the Simmental breed and when everyone is losing their minds over the progeny in online sales next October, you will be glad you picked one or both of these girls up now and are ahead of the wave. These two are some of the first daughters to sell and man, they legit get better every day. I’ll be honest, I have yet to successfully snapchat Pure Gold. Every time she struts off all arrogant and completely on fire, I’m a little speechless and by the time my brain says “Yo! Breach of Grace and Everlasting Grace are exactly why we love our Data Breach daughters. So dang functional! These two were always easy to find in the pasture, sharing a similar stamp to their mother with the presence of their sire. Long fronted and clean in their neck and chest, possessing a unique and natural smoothness with explosive rib shape and muscle expression that goes well with their long and level hips. All the while they maintain an incredibly loose skeleton with foot shape and leg structure that won’t disappoint. Take your pick of two different ages on these girls! Losing Gabby was like losing a family member but it would have been a whole lot harder if Sarita wouldn’t have been in the show barn at the same time. God sends us gifts to get us through rough times and Sarita was mine. She was going to be Gabby’s replacement from the minute I saw her at the co-op pasture and most people knew I was pretty serious when I said she was NOT for sale. Around here, if you have the privilege of being blessed with the title of donor, your expected to knock it out of the park on the first round. We IVF’ed Sarita as a heifer and she froze 10 to Oracle right off the bat, bred right away back then anchored the 2020 NWSS Champion Pen of 3 Percentage Females. There are three older Oracle girls that I’m excited to try for a future Denver pen with and then there’s the super cute baby of the family, Punta Cana. Little different age division here being an early May but she packs the same power and build as the older sisters. Loves feed, always curious what you’re up to and if there’s a bale of bedding in her reach, she’s happy to help you spread it! Senorita is Sarita’s natural calf and is a spitting image of mama in a genetically better package. She also has the most beautiful straight, full of life hair of any heifer in the sale. I have to be honest, I’ve gotten pretty attached to bred heifers since we started our spring sale and when Black Diamond calves here in a few short months, I know I’ll be regretting the decision not to keep and calve her. Bred to the $52,000 Oracle, there’s a good chance for a baldy baby. This lady has all the pieces we love in our Gabby’s; easy keeping, functional and awesome at the ground. Pitch Perfect is the last open to ever be sold out of the great Gabby donor. 5T Power Chip was the last flush we ever did on Gabby and this late April baby makes me happy we did. She’s stout, sound and cool fronted with enough hair that will put any “hair growth product” dealer out of business. Out of the full sister to the $52,000 Oracle, Behati making sure her half sis Crazy N Love doesn’t steal all the attention in the donor pen. Pay The Price needs no intro as a two-time National Champion himself. A full sister brought ??? in last years Jewels of the Northland and was a heavily campaigned multi-time class winner for the Nemitz Family. I’ve lost count the number of times we have been offered to just “load this one up” by visitors but we have remained loyal to the sale. There are very bright days ahead in Belieza’s future. To make one that good at the ground with true integrity though her rib and front end is unmatched. Purebred, young and flat out good. She will be high on the sale order come sale day. Even back when Stare & Believe was winning divisions in Louisville and Denver as a calf, we knew her most rewarding days were in the future when she got into production. She had such a presence about her you couldn’t help but stop what you were doing and just stare, admire and imagine the next generation. We had no reason not to believe they were going to be nothing short of stellar. The head and front third of this one is as elegant as one could ever ask for in a female. If you are in search of a baldy female that will have everyone staring from the judges, spectators ring side, fellow breeders and anyone that ever visits your pasture, then be sure you have this one heading on a trailer to your place in December. The “Price of Starin” will only be numbers written on a check, the real cost would be in letting this one get away. Kinslee did name her heifer but as I started to write the footnote, I kind of wished she wasn’t in bed because if I asked her to write the footnote I’m sure it would be way better than mine and at the very least far more entertaining. I know as Kinslee gets older getting her to sell her heifers is probably going to get increasingly more difficult. With that being said, I’m the one with seller’s remorse letting this one go. An Executive Order daughter that is stout, powerfully constructed with some added size that more and more of our customers are asking for. Her neck comes high out of her shoulder and just makes you think about the show stopping heifers that are certain to come out of this one. Grandpa Val found the mother of this one at Gonsior’s sale consigned by our good friend and fellow Jewels consignor Darin Johnson. He said she was an absolutely beautiful cow and when he proceeded to tell us about her pedigree he couldn’t stop painting the picture. A Glitter x Lookout, I know a little about that pedigree and could certainly believe she was stunning. B203 should probably be in the donor program based on her stunning phenotype and pedigree, but I know Kinslee’s cattle will take over our place soon enough so for now (while I have a fighting chance) I’m trying to keep the number of calves she has in check. These full sisters by EO are going to make some tremendous cows. Their beautifully uddered, gorgeous dam is a full sib to Hartman’s High Caliber bull.
