12th Annual Rockin H Simmental Production Sale
It’s hard to believe another year has come and gone already and we are back to another production sale. Time sure does fly! It seems like we are constantly busy with the boys and their sports, schooling and with the rest of the time tending to our cattle operation. Our operation is located in SW Minnesota in the foothills of the Buffalo Ridge right next to South Dakota. We are a family run operation consisting of a seed stock, cow/calf, to finish and a grain operation that is spread between Canby and Porter. Our dedication to raising high quality and profitable Simmental cattle started back in 1975.
This year’s sale offering is bred to provide longevity and profitability. The bulls have been performance tested, ultrasound scanned, and evaluated accordingly. They have also been tested for homozygous black and polled traits and have GGP-100k genomic enhanced EPDs, providing a clearer and more accurate picture of their genetic merit. The bred females are offered in conjunction with our neighbors, GFC Farms - The Goplen Family of Canby, MN. We are also offering a select group of open heifers out of the heart of our replacement pen.
We will offer to keep and feed the bulls free of charge up to the middle of April. If you are unable to take your bull right away, we will then plan delivery arrangements at that time. The sale bulls will be delivered free of charge to the surrounding states, and we will assist you in other trucking arrangements if so needed.

We are truly passionate and dedicated to raising Simmental cattle and would love to hear from you. The sale cattle can be viewed at any time prior to the sale and the day of the sale. We appreciate the accelerating high prices and shattering record prices on a daily basis, with that being said Pounds Matter! The Hoffman operation is well known for being performance driven without giving up the critical traits required to stay profitable in the cattle business. Their knowledge comes first hand as they have fed out a tremendous amount of cattle over the years and evaluate their product with a critical eye on carcass traits. Matt & Holly did go the extra mile to genetically enhance the herd bull prospects to ensure the true value of their EPD profile. The bulls will also be ultrasounded prior to the sale to provide you with additional carcass data for real world numbers to evaluate. Captivate was born and raised right on our farm around 5 years ago, where he would eventually come to sell on our production sale the following spring commanding $95,000, going to Lazy C Diamond Ranch & Bichler Simmentals. With over 500 head registered to Captivate in the data base, it’s safe to say he left a huge impact on the breed in a short time. Captivate has also gone on to produce some of the country’s top herd sires and replacement females, and his legacy is still going strong.
