As our sale celebrates its 47th year, it is a testament to all of our membership who continue to raise the bar, meet and exceed the needs of customer demands and consumer expectations. I want to take a moment to thank the consigners for your commitment to the MSA and the sale. It takes a lot of hard work, effort, dedication and planning to make it all happen. Thank you. Hello everyone!
As I reflect on my year as the Minnesota Junior Simmental Association President, I am forever grateful for the memories, relationships, and experiences I have gained. This summer I had the opportunity to represent our association in Fargo, ND at our Regionals and in Louisville, KY at Junior Nationals, the Minnesota State Fair, and the Minnesota Beef Expo. It is always great to see how involved our youth are in the Simmental breed and I love being able to visit with the members at all of the events throughout the year. Our junior members truly have a passion for this breed and it is encouraging to know that the future is in good hands. I am currently a sophomore at NDSU majoring in Animal Science. The knowledge I have gained through this experience will help me promote and advocate for the Simmental breed and beef industry as I continue my education and future careers. I am blessed to have such amazing people in my life who are always wanting to see me succeed. I want to thank my parents for all of their support with my crazy dreams. They have grown to love this breed and association as much as I have. I would also like to thank the Minnesota Junior and Senior Simmental Associations for their support of the juniors involved. Lastly, I would like to thank Marilee and Daryl Peterson, and Matt and Adriane Hilbrands for taking on the role of being the Junior Association advisors. SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2020 It has been a privilege to represent you as your Minnesota Simmental Queen this past year. I had the opportunity to speak at the Minnesota State Fair, help at the Simmental Junior Regionals, and even attend a “Night on the Farm” event by New Ulm this year. Some of my favorite moments included seeing young girls gaze up at my crown with hope that one day they can represent their breed with a crown and sash, seeing smiles on kids faces as I hand them their champion banner, and speaking on the radio. I enjoyed every minute of representing our fine breed and it is a great breed to represent! A word of advice to younger members: Get involved and get to know some people. You never know who you might meet and what they might know. Getting involved brings new opportunities and experiences. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Now for Nash, what more can be said about United. King of the weaning and yearling weight cattle, as well in a moderate frame package. Nash is as pretty fronted and as big ribbed as you can make one. Her full brother, Frankes Uncle, is our bull we’re taking out to the Black Hills Stock Show. Another full brother, Frankes Unice, ran the pasture this summer as our cleanup bull.
