FAIRS && FESTIVALS FAIRS FESTIVALS Summertime in Michigan not only brings nice weather, but it’s time for many fairs and festivals. Easterseals MORC is excited to share some of the festivals and fairs in Michigan offering events and accommodations for individuals with disabilities. To be considered for the Easterseals MORC Seal of Approval, the event or business must be and/or have accommodations for sensory and/or disability friendly.

June 12-15: Frankenmuth’s Bavarian Festival - Frankenmuth Frankenmuth’s Bavarian Festival is a four-day celebration of bratwursts, lederhosen, and all things German. The festival kicks off with the raising of the maypole, live music, and the ceremonial keg tapping that sets the tone for the weekend. Live bands, fireworks shows, parades, classic Bavarian games, beverages and food trucks serving up classic Bavarian treats to keep visitors busy. June 28 - July 5: National Cherry Festival – Traverse City Check out the week-long cherry palooza in the cherry capital of the world, Traverse City, MI! The festival includes high-flying air shows, a classic car show, pie-eating contests, parades, and of course everything cherry! The main festival grounds feature accessible restrooms, smooth pathways, and accessible viewing areas. During this year’s National Cherry Festival, Open Space Park will host games and festival activities on July 2nd at 9:00am. Activities will include fames, art, face painting, and visiting Super Cherry and the Queen and Court. During this event, amusement rides will also be made inclusive with slower speeds and help with loading and unloading. Learn more about the National Cherry Festival or activities HERE.

July 11-20: Oakland County Fair - Davisburg Davisburg Adaptive Needs Events and Oakland County Parks and Recreation are hosting “Day at the Fair” from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 17 at Springfield Oaks County Park during the annual Oakland County Fair! The day will feature a sea lion show, petting zoo, racing pigs, Miracle of Birth barn, horse and livestock shows, and more. This event is free for individuals with disabilities. Free carnival rides, courtesy of Big Rock Amusements, will also be available from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm for individuals with disabilities and one caregiver. Reserve a spot today!
