RECOGNIZING AND PREVENTING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE Addressing Power Control Issues in a Domestic & Intimate Partner Violence/Relationship What is the Recognizing and Preventing Domestic Violence Group? The Recognizing and Preventing Domestic Violence Group is a program using Cognitive Behavioral, Psychoeducation, Trauma Focused therapeutic methods. Individuals with current charges and requirements to attend a Domestic Violence Program are NOT accepted in this group.

Participants can expect to: learn the concepts and skills to address issues related with power control. learn how to address unhealthy role expectations in relationships, cycles of abuse and sociocultural factors including ethical and legal repercussions. take responsibility for their behaviors. learn stress management skills. acquire tools-coping mechanisms to interrupt/stop and prevent violence in relationships.

When and where does this group meet? Starting May 13th, 2026, this group will meet weekly on Wednesdays in a hybrid format from 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM. When meeting in person, this group will meet at the Easterseals MORC location in Pontiac (1685 Baldwin Ave., Suite 100, Pontiac, MI 48340).
