ENCOPRESIS GROUP

What is “encopresis”?

What is "encopresis"? Encopresis is a condition in which someone experiences repeated passing of stool (typically involuntary) into clothing. This typically occurs when impacted stool collects in the colon and rectum, resulting in the areas becoming too full and starting to leak It is sometimes called “fecal incontinence” or “soiling ” (Mayo Clinic, 2025)

What topics are covered?

The Encopresis Group will focus on helping participants learn about encopresis, the anatomy and processes of stool production, the role of fiber and fluids on bowel movements, healthy habits, and toilet use techniques. Given the nature of Encopresis, children may feel isolated or embarrassed and experience shame. Participants in the group will have the opportunity to meet other children who are experiencing the same thing as they are, while working toward goals to improve their health and wellbeing.

What is unique about participating in Encopresis Group?
