Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for Adolescents (DBT-A)

What is DBT-A? DBT-A is a comprehensive therapy aimed at building a life worth living by reducing factors that may get in the way of achieving goals and enjoying life. Adolescents with high-risk behaviors such as suicidal thoughts, self-harm or substance use have been shown to benefit from this evidence-based treatment. DBT-A staff include master’s level clinicians in counseling, psychology and social work who are trained and credentialed to provide this evidencebased intervention.

What does the DBT-A program include? The DBT-A program is a 6-month treatment commitment that may include: Weekly individual therapy Weekly multi-family skills group Phone coaching sessions

Who can attend DBT-A? DBT-A is designed for adolescents that are 13 years of age and older who meet certain criteria. A parent/guardian/trusted adult is required to attend the Multi-Family Skills Group with the adolescent.

What should I expect from DBT-A? In 6-months, teens and caregivers will: Have effective treatment for regulating emotions Confidently replace problem behaviors with skillful behaviors Navigate relationships in their environment (family, school, peers) Create a life worth living “DBT saved my life!
