Why Students Choose CHS 72% of all EKU health majors are employed in Kentucky three years after graduation. EKU’s Recreation Therapy program is the only one in the state 2025 NCLEX Pass Rates reported by the KY Board of Nursing AASN - 94% BSN 98%. All majors include an internship or clinical experience. EKU consistently ranks among the top 25 in Best Occupational Therapy Programs by U.S. News & World Report. EKU’s Environmental Health Science and Sustainability program is one of only 25 accredited by the National Environmental Health Science & Protection Accreditation Council. The EKU Medical Laboratory Science program is one of only two four-year accredited programs in the state.

From Learning to Leading Building Pathways for Healthcare Professionals
EKU offers a variety of pathways for students preparing for careers in healthcare, including pre-professional programs such as pre-med, pre-PA and pre-PT. Several degree programs and concentrations also provide the foundation students need to pursue advanced healthcare education. EKU’s Recreation Therapy program prepares graduates for careers in various settings like hospitals, schools, parks and wilderness therapy. Medical Laboratory Sciences teaches students to analyze samples for diagnosis, leading to job opportunities in healthcare settings or advanced education.
Hands-on. Real Life Training Fieldwork and Clinical Practice at EKU
The School of Nursing Clinical Skills Laboratory and Simulation Center offers nursing students a safe place to practice real life patient care scenarios, encouraging collaboration and self-reflection. The team guides students with questions and prompt feedback to enhance present and future patient care. EKU’s Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy labs provide students with handson experiences. The Doctor of Occupational Therapy program offers fieldwork in clinical settings across the lifespan, preparing graduates to work in many healthcare settings.
