rebuild to relive: csa-b gym reopens

Martina Isabel Mantuano

Colegio San Agustin Bacolod finally commenced the reopening of the gymnasium as they hold its blessing and inauguration on the 5th of June, 2023. The Augustinian Friars graced us with their presence, leading the ribbon-c u t t i n g ceremony and the blessing of the gym. After the program opening, Rev. Fr. Arnel S. Dizon, O.S.A., delivered his words of gratitude towards everyone who made the remarkable day happen. The Kalinaw Chorale, Kanlaon Theater Guild, Kagayon Dance Troupe, and the Kamighon band owned the stage following their sensationa l p e r f or m a n c e s, hence making it one

astounding day and proving that Augustinians are indeed talented in the many forms of art. The original gym, opened in 1977, was razed by fire on April 7, 2014 after an electric fan ignited in the dormitory rooms of varsity players. The fire was reported at 5:45 p.m, and was put under control by 6:20 p.m, as reported by city fire marshal Chief Inspector Bartolome Beliran. The Rebuild to relive the memories fundraising campaign was launched in 2014, garnering thousands in donations. The campaign was relaunched on Valentines Day 2023, with all departments, offices, and organizations

having a contribution to the donation drive. The completion of the gymnasium proved useful for graduating students and achievers, as their ceremonies

were held at the venue in the following months. Varsity players are also expected to use the gym for training by 2024, when all appliances are complete.
