Head Professional | The Pines Country Club, WV What is your go-to Music? Depends on the day... Love Music!! 80’s, R&B, Motown, contemporary Christian... sooo many great artistic and songs. What is your go-to type of Movie? Action Adventure. Bond, MI, Jason Borne, but my favorite movies are usually those based on true events... Remember the Titans, Green Book, etc. What is your go-to Food? Italian would probably be first. What is your go-to Snack? Ruffles Cheddar and Sour Cream Chips. No doubt Tell us something that people might be surprised to know about you. I went skydiving a couple of years ago!! Want to go again. Where were you born/raised? Radford, Virginia...My Dad was getting his PHD in Engineering from Va Tech. We moved to Lovingston, VA, a small town near Charlottesville, and grew up, but West Virginia is home now!!

Tell us about your family. - Are you married, and do you have any children? Married to Allison, raising our granddaughter Harper Faye, have 3 grown Children - McGuire, Noah, and Avery. All live too far away!! How do you spend your time away from the course? Love to travel and see the world. We live a blessed life. What is the best part of your game? I used to be a decent iron player with a good wedge game, now.... Lag putting. What is your best round of Golf? 65 - Pines Country Club. I’ve only had a couple bogey-free rounds, and this was the best. Name two favorite golf courses that you've played, and what makes them unique to you? Tough one, there are sooo many great places. It’s more about who I play with than where I play, BUT... Laurel Valley and The Cascades are memorable!! If you could play a round of golf with any three people (alive or deceased), who would they be? Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, and Bill Campbell. Just don’t know how it could be better.

What initially drew you to the game of Golf, and how did you get started? Family affair. After Church on Sunday. I’m the baby of the family and was the most competitive. The individual component of work/reward sealed the deal. How long have you been a PGA member, and what made you decide to pursue a career in the PGA of America? It will be 25 years next year. Wow, goes fast. Love the sport, competition, creativity, being outdoors, and the family that golf creates. Hell of a life!! Who has had the biggest influence on your life or career? Definitely Robert Harris and Hill Herrick, but from my club pro growing up to the amazing golf professionals within the TriState, I have been blessed to have the best golf professionals in the country have an influence on me. Thank you to all of you out there that made a difference in my life. Please provide some insight into your previous roles. Growing up working at Winton Country Club in Virginia as a kid, to pursuing a career in golf at The Greenbrier. I didn’t know it at the time, but being a course ranger, to picking range balls, cleaning and gassing carts, working the shop desk, teaching professional, to Head Professional. The process was the blessing.

What’s your favorite part of working with your members, students, or clients? Relationship building. It’s the magic ingredient to success. What advice would you give to aspiring PGA Professionals entering the industry today? Listen, watch, and ask questions. You can either learn from the experiences of others or you can have your own painful experiences. What does being a PGA of America Member mean to you? That there are some amazing individuals that you can associate with, bond with, and learn and grow with. What does “Growing the Game” mean to you? That we should create an excitement about the game of golf to others so that everyone would be interested in this amazing sport. Can you provide/list any special awards, achievements, or recognitions you’re particularly proud of? I’m proud of my loyalty and work ethic. I was at the Greenbrier for 10 years and have been at the Pines for 20. We all have tough times, but I’m thankful that I have been able to be consistent in my career.
