The YBLK Mission

The mission of Yad Batya L’Kallah is simple and powerful: to ease the crushing financial burden that families face when marrying off a kallah.

YBLK provides quality essential household items— the basics every new home needs—along with a gift certificate for lingerie, so that each kallah can begin married life with dignity, confidence, and peace of mind.

All goods are purchased at wholesale prices, maximizing the value of every fundraised dollar and stretching each contribution as far as it can go.

By giving actual items rather than cash, YBLK ensures that every dollar stays true to its purpose: furnishing a new bride’s home and helping her start this new chapter with comfort, kavod, and security.

The Matnas Chaya L’Kallah initiative was created תמשנ יוליעל our dear friend and beloved volunteer, Chaya Bistritzky ה״ע.

Working hand-in-hand with Yad Batya L’Kallah, Matnas Chaya provides beautifully assembled packages of kitchen utensils, tools, and gadgets—the small, thoughtful touches that turn a basic kitchen into a warm, working home.

This special package is a supplementary bonus added to the standard YBLK trousseau, ensuring that each kallah doesn’t just receive the big essentials, but also the practical, everyday items that make her new kitchen truly functional, welcoming, and filled with heart.

Yad Batya L’Kallah Facts

• Many kallahs who receive a package have no idea they are Yad Batya L’Kallah recipients—and that’s what makes this chesed so special.

• All the work is coordinated out of the Zakheim’s private backyard garage which was established in memory of their daughter Batya Rachel Zakheim-Brecher ה״ע. This simple, sacred space was newly renovated a few years ago—l’iluy nishmas Chaya Bistritzky ה״ע. From that garage, thousands of kallahs have started their married life with dignity and care.

• To protect privacy, every kallah is assigned an ID number. No names. Just a number known only inside the organization.

• Every step is done by volunteers with utmost discretion purchasing, screening, packing, and delivering.

• For the last 38 years, YBLK has been building Jewish homes with barely any overhead. There is no rented office, only minimal basic expenses. A small army of women doing pure chesed behind the scenes. And because there are minimal administrative costs, almost every donated dollar goes straight to the kallah’s needs—direct, powerful, and truly life-changing.

• This year alone, Yad Batya L’Kallah provided for 365 kallahs across the United States and 670 kallahs in Yerushalayim—over 1,035 new homes built with dignity, privacy, and heart.
