As we reflect on our recent 60th anniversary, we are reminded of the distinctive role Ustinov College plays within Durham University and of the truly global community to which you belong. As Durham’s sole postgraduate-only college, Ustinov (formerly the Graduate Society) has, for six decades, brought together students from across the world, united by intellectual curiosity, cultural openness, and a shared commitment to learning beyond borders.
Our vision is to create an environment that actively nurtures global citizenship, one in which difference is not only respected but celebrated. We value the strength that arises from our diversity, our interdisciplinary character, and our strong sense of collegiality, and we strive to embed these principles in everything we do.
This ethos is most clearly actioned through our Global Citizenship Programme (GCP) and its range of academic, community focused and volunteering activities and through the vital role played by our Graduate Common Room (GCR). The GCR has long been central to the Ustinov student experience and continues to enrich College life through the wide range of social events it organises throughout the year.
We deeply value your continued engagement with the College, whether you are already part of our alumni network or are reconnecting with us for the first time, and we warmly invite all former members of the Ustinov community to stay in touch and be part of our shared future.
