New Carroll Village owners see ‘incredible potential’ for site By Paul Byrne WORK is set to begin in earnest in the next couple of months on the long overdue re-development of Carroll Village Shopping Centre. According to Castle Entertainment Centre Limited who have bought the site where the Carroll Village Shopping Centre used to operate from the centre is ‘poised for a major re-development aimed at creating a dynamic retail destination that will serve as a catalyst for economic growth, job creation, and community renewal’. Speaking to the Dundalk Leader a spokesperson for the new owners said that the main focus right now is to get at least three or four large retailers on
board with this development and the next few months will be spent re-developing the site and taking enquiries from any retailers interested in trading in the new development. A statement from the group said the new project would breath new life into the town centre. This development will be separate to the construction of a Primary Care Centre at the former Superquinn building in Carroll Village. That project got the green light last August from An Bord Pleanála. That proposal is for the partial demolition of the existing shopping centre building and the construction of a 4-storey primary care centre, including a GP surgery, pharmacy and HSE accommodation.
