Local tourism hoping for ‘Biden Bounce’ By Tamara O’Connell
On the day that US President Joe Biden visited Co Louth, traffic to the VisitLouth.ie website jumped by 150 per cent, according to Jason McGee. Blackrock man Jason is a Digital Tourism Consultant for Louth County Council and Failte Ireland. “The Biden Blog linked to the VisitLouth.ie website got over 2,000 visits in 24 hours,” he said. “The Social Reach of an event like this is in the 100’s of million across platforms like Facebook Twitter, Insta, et cetera. “People from all over the world will now know phrases like ‘Carlingford’, ‘Dundalk’ and ‘Louth’ and the Biden Bounce will benefit not only those locations but all across Ireland as a result and for years to come.” Jason added: “The Biden Blog was a running commentary on the day and it worked very well. “It drew interest from people living locally who wanted to know about roads and things like that and also from people internationally.
