Government share ‘accurate info’ on refugee centre EMAIL FROM DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE ATTEMPTS TO DISPEL RUMOURS REGARDING PLANS FOR FORMER ORPHANAGE IN SEATOWN PLACE By Paul Byrne THE DEPARTMENT of Justice have emailed local representatives in an effort to ensure the local community have accurate information about the emergency accommodation in the former St. Joseph’s female orphanage and Industrial School and St. Malachy’s Convent at Seatown Place, Dundalk. The building which has undergone renovations in recent months will be used to accommodate up to 250 Ukrainian refugees who have left their country due to the ongoing war. There have been a number of protests outside the former orphanage and a number of rumours about who exactly would end up in the building which is located beside St Vincent’s Secondary school. However an email sent out to local councillors, TD’s and Senators this week has attempted to quell those rumours by giving what they describe as ‘accurate information’ about the accommodation of people fleeing the war in Sarah McArdle and Leanne Rafferty from Dundalk participating on behalf of Cystic Fibrosis Ukraine.
