e’re very excited to share our fall print issue starring Adam Scott. For more than three decades, Scott has quietly become one of Hollywood’s most beloved leading men. Whether you first knew him as the lovable underdog in Party Down, the sharp-tongued Ben Wyatt on Parks and Recreation or the endlessly watchable antihero at the center of Severance, he’s built a career defined by remarkable range moving effortlessly between comedy and drama, blockbuster films and independent projects. In the psychological crime thriller The Whisper Man, now streaming on Netflix, Scott stars opposite Michelle Monaghan and Robert De Niro in a role unlike any we’ve seen him in before. Emilio Madrid photographed Scott at Corner Studio in New York City and Seppe Tirabassi styled the actor in Dolce & Gabbana, Saint Laurent, Prada and Fendi. We also turn our attention to the world of interiors with a look at the design books we’re reaching for this season, including beautiful new tomes from American tastemakers Bunny Williams and Giancarlo Valle that offer endless inspiration for the home. We’re also celebrating an extraordinary milestone with a profile of Michael Kors, whose namesake label marks 45 years in fashion this year. Few designers have shaped the American wardrobe with such consistency, optimism and enduring appeal, making this anniversary a moment well worth honoring. For those with travel on their mind, Christina Ohly Evans shares her insider’s guide to Palm Springs along with her favorite discoveries across Europe. Meanwhile, Marshall Heyman journeyed to Tanzania to experience Mapito Safari Camp, Serengeti, Autograph Collection. We are so fortunate to have worked with frequent collaborators like photographers Taylor Miller and Emilio Madrid and superstar stylist Andrew Gelwicks on photo shoots that yielded stunning original visuals for our issue. We hope you enjoy reading this issue as much as we did producing it.

A
s the seasons change, so too do the stories we find ourselves drawn to. Fall has always been fashion’s favorite time of year, a season of reinvention, rich textures and fresh beginnings. But it’s also a season that rewards subtlety. The performances that linger, the collections that surprise and the conversations that stay with us often do so quietly, revealing themselves over time. That is what made Adam Scott such a compelling choice for our fall cover. His latest performance in The Whisper Man, Netflix’s haunting adaptation of the bestselling Alex North novel, feels like the culmination of that journey. Our cover story, photographed by Emilio Madrid and styled by Seppe Tirabassi, is built on impeccable tailoring, tactile layers and timeless pieces that feel designed to be lived in rather than simply admired. Elsewhere in the issue, we celebrate the arrival of the new season through the designers redefining modern dressing, the cultural figures shaping today’s creative landscape and the destinations, objects and ideas inspiring us now. Together they remind us that the most enduring luxury is substance: exceptional craftsmanship, thoughtful storytelling and the confidence to embrace individuality. As always, thank you for reading.

“What could be more perfect than seeing Céline in Celine? This gown was custom-made for Céline Dion after my first fashion show as creative director of Celine in Paris. We had sketched multiple neckline options to accommodate the Titanic Heart of the Ocean necklace. And Celine and I were positive that the turtleneck was the right choice. Her performance went down in Oscars history.”
PROFILE
Michael’s Moments On his 45th anniversary, designer Michael Kors takes a trip down memory lane to discuss his favorite runway and red carpet moments with DuJour BY NATASHA WOLFF
W
ith 45 years at the center of American fashion, Michael Kors has built a legacy defined by ease, polish and an unmistakable sense of modern glamour. His work has consistently translated a personal vision of relaxed luxury into a global language of style that feels both immediate and enduring. That vision surfaced early. At just 5 years old, he advised his mother, Joan, on her wedding dress for her second marriage, an early glimpse of the clarity and conviction that would come to define his point of view. The first Michael Kors Collection runway show debuted in 1984, marking the beginning of a house that would grow into one of the most recognizable names in contemporary luxury. As his own brand expanded, Kors was appointed creative director of Celine in 1997, a position he held until 2004. He is widely credited with helping restore the maison’s elegance and reassert its place among Europe’s great fashion houses. Now, as the designer celebrates his 45th anniversary, Kors’ legacy feels less like a moment in time and more like a signature on modern American style. To mark the occasion, Kors looks back on defining runway and red carpet moments in conversation with DuJour.
ANNE HATHAWAY The Met Gala, 2026
“This gown was a wonderful collaboration between artist Peter McGough, myself and superstar Anne Hathaway. We all loved the poem by John Keats “Ode on a Grecian Urn,” and used it as a starting point for this one-of-akind, hand-painted strapless Mikado ball gown. Anne became the living embodiment of the night’s theme, ‘fashion is art.’”
“I love this photo of me and supermodel Janice Dickinson. I’ve always felt you’re only as good as the people you dress.”

“The first look of mine that Mrs. Obama wore as first lady was the sleeveless black jersey dress she wore for her official portrait in 2009. When someone like the first lady, who is in the spotlight 24/7, trusts me to make her look and feel her best, I know I’m doing my job right. She is a rule breaker. We had never seen a formal portrait of the first lady wearing something so sleek and modern. It truly signified a new era was beginning.”

CINDY CRAWFORD
FALL 2026
“Here was Cindy Crawford closing our Fall/Winter 1992 runway show. In those days, the last look was always white—as a sportswear designer, this was my answer to bridal!”
ZENDAYA
The Met Gala, 2016
“There’s a lot to love about Zendaya—she’s fearless, intelligent and fabulous to boot. Her confidence and cool-girl edge were the perfect match for this bronze gown. When we were collaborating on the look, she was truly up for anything. I said intergalactic Cher, and she said, ‘I’m in.’ Pulling up to the red carpet, I kept asking her if she was OK. It was her second Met Gala, and she was cool and confident. As soon as she hit the carpet, that confidence shone.”
CHRISTY TURLINGTON & LINDA EVANGELISTA
“This was at my Fall 1990 show with Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista. I remember Christy closed the show that year. It was the era of the supermodel, with women like Christy, Linda, Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford bringing the clothes to life and just lighting up the room.”
NICOLE KIDMAN
Cannes Film Festival, 2017
DUJOUR.COM
“I love dressing Nicole because she knows herself, she knows what works and she loves a little glamour, but it’s always sophisticated. Our silver fringed sequined gown made for a quintessential glittering Cannes red carpet moment. Nothing beats a dress that catches the light and shimmers when you move.”
71 FALL 2026
GWYNETH PALTROW CFDA Awards, 2010
JENNIFER LOPEZ
“I’ve been friends with Gwyneth for years now. When I think about women today who can juggle a lot and somehow make it look effortless, she does that with aplomb. This was the night I received the CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award, and Gwyneth in a black sequined asymmetric gown was the perfect date for a night I’ll always remember. iancarlo Valle and Jane Keltner de Valle of Studio Valle de Valle have emerged as two of the freshest voices in interior design, creating spaces that balance whimsy and sophistication, innovation and restraint. Their interiors are defined by richly textured surfaces, custom and collected elements, sculptural furniture and a layered approach that feels both refined and deeply personal. Each interior reflects a consistent sensibility rather than a fixed style. Spaces are animated through saturated, textured wall finishes, gently expressive patterns and a careful interplay of custom and collected elements. Handcarved wood furniture, plush upholstery and built-in pieces anchor rooms with a sense of permanence, while commissioned artworks and collaborative objects introduce wit and visual rhythm. Together, these elements create environments that feel personal, layered and deeply inhabitable.

JEEP CHEROKEE
The SUV arms race is increasingly about efficiency as much as capability, and Jeep is betting buyers want both. The all-new 2026 Jeep Cherokee pairs a turbocharged hybrid powertrain with an estimated 37 mpg and more than 500 miles of driving range while retaining standard 4x4 capability and a 3,500pound towing capacity. Inside, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, Level 2 Active Driving Assist and up to 140 safety features bring the midsize SUV firmly into the tech era. Starting at $36,995, the Cherokee aims to prove that going hybrid doesn’t mean giving up what made a Jeep a Jeep. jeep.com
Audi is entering the supercar arena with the fastest and most powerful production vehicle in its history. With only 499 produced worldwide, the Nuvolari is scheduled to arrive in the first half of 2027, and U.S. pricing is expected to exceed $500,000. The car introduces Audi’s next-generation design language. A mid-engine layout, sculptural surfaces, integrated aerodynamics and a new titanium exterior finish give the supercar a bold yet restrained presence. Inspired by the brand’s Formula 1 program, the hybrid powertrain produces 1,001 horsepower and is paired with active aerodynamics, quattro predictive ride technology and a carbonintensive Audi Space Frame. Performance is equally impressive: 0-62 mph in 2.6 seconds and a top speed of more than 217 mph, making it the quickest production Audi ever built. audiusa.com

Powered by the brand’s High Performance Hybrid system, the grand tourers produce 670 horsepower and 686 lb-ft of torque—128 hp and 118 lb-ft more than the previous S models. The result is impressive performance: 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph. Borrowing the Bentley Performance Active Chassis from the Continental GT Speed, the S models also gain rear-wheel steering and active chassis technology for a more engaging drive, while a sports exhaust lets the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 make its presence known. L
uxury buyers have long gravitated toward the exclusivity of boutique residential buildings and a new project in Manhattan’s Flatiron District is embracing that philosophy in its purest form. Rather than filling a tower with dozens of condominiums, developers Andrew Heiberger and Howard Lev are converting a historic five-story townhouse into just three expansive residences, each designed to feel like a private home in one of the city’s most coveted neighborhoods. Known as London Clay Townhouse, the development occupies a landmark building at 32 East 22nd Street, where original architectural details are being carefully preserved alongside contemporary interiors and bespoke finishes. The project is expected to generate more than $20 million in sales, underscoring continued demand for highly curated luxury residences that prioritize craftsmanship and privacy over scale. The collaboration brings together two seasoned New York developers. Heiberger, founder and CEO of Buttonwood Development, has built a reputation for identifying distinctive residential opportunities across Manhattan, while Lev, founder of Wheelhouse Property, has focused on thoughtfully executed projects that emphasize quality over quantity. Their shared vision is evident throughout London Clay Townhouse, where every square foot has been designed to maximize light, volume and livability. The collection includes three unique residences, each with its own identity. A Garden Parlor home offers townhouse-style living with generous entertaining spaces, while the Upper Parlor residence features soaring ceilings and a private terrace that extends the living experience outdoors. Crowning the building is a penthouse duplex complete with its own rooftop retreat, offering panoramic city views and an uncommon level of privacy. Original proportions, classic façades and carefully restored architectural details offer a level of authenticity that cannot be manufactured. For Heiberger and Lev, London Clay Townhouse is more than another residential development. In a neighborhood defined by historic architecture and sophisticated urban living, London Clay Townhouse is poised to become one of Flatiron’s most exclusive residential offerings. londonclaytownhouse.com ■

n Decoration (Rizzoli), American interior design legend Bunny Williams and Elizabeth Lawrence, the partners behind the legendary design firm Williams Lawrence, bring their combined decades of design wisdom to the page. The book showcases a variety of new Williams Lawrence interiors interwoven with personal anecdotes, intimate essays and practical design tips written by Williams and Lawrence. They walk readers through how to train one’s eye to recognize proportion, authenticity and potential, how to cultivate design inspiration through travel and visits to flea markets and galleries and how fantasy and color can bring a sense of play and storytelling to the design process. In their work, they explore texture and layering and detail, and the book explores their approach to sourcing pieces slowly and deliberately, favoring patience and discovery over instant “one-and-done” decorating.

A guest room at Yarlington Lodge
YARLINGTON LODGE Somerset, England From the owners of The Newt in Somerset and the beloved Babylonstoren in South Africa’s wine country comes Yarlington Lodge—a sprawling, exclusiveuse estate built in 1820 that is surrounded by the idyllic Somerset countryside. Just one mile down the road from the 2,000-acre Newt with its magnificent gardens, orchards and ancient woodland, Yarlington is fast becoming the house stay for discerning travelers. With room for up to 32 guests across the Regency-era Yarlington Lodge, Coach House and Cottage in the Wall, the beautifully restored 12-acre property has been designed as the ultimate retreat for families and groups seeking privacy, recreation and milestone moments. Outdoor enthusiasts will love everything from tennis and croquet on the manicured lawns to swimming in the heated outdoor pool and countryside walks (wellies and rain jackets provided) through the extensive grounds. Dedicated butlers can schedule personal trainers, wellness treatments and bespoke experiences at the serene Newt Spa or ghillies and packed lunches for days spent fishing the local rivers. Food and drink are at the heart of the Yarlington Lodge experience, drawing on The Newt’s celebrated farm-to-table philosophy. Memorable meals can be tailored to a guest’s wishes, with almost everything sourced from the estate’s fruit and vegetable gardens, creamery and on-site butchery. Communal breakfasts are served in the Lodge’s main kitchen, with eggs made to order, bright berries and freshly baked sourdough a perfect start to any day. Other meals and cocktail hour can be enjoyed in the Palm House (a light-filled greenhouse), in the
courtyard or in the private speakeasy bar in the exquisitely finished basement. A fun highlight at the end of any day is the plush screening room, where craft cocktails and homemade sweet popcorn accompany the latest films. But it is each of the distinct rooms and suites that sets Yarlington Lodge apart from other English house stays. Under the guidance of owner Karen Roos (former director of Elle Decoration South Africa), and with the help of Richard Parr Associates, the interiors balance Regency heritage with bold contemporary design, using rich wood tones, antique furnishings and bespoke textiles with modern pieces and bespoke commissions. Each space has a separate character while remaining part of a larger story. The Lodge features grand reception rooms, a library, dining room and a croquet court of dreams, while The Coach House blends rustic structure of rich wood and neutral stone with refined detailing and a state-of-the-art brushed metal kitchen. The Cottage in the Wall is softer and more intimate, with warm textures, arched windows and garden-inspired design that reflects the flora beyond (complimentary bicycles are a plus here, too). Whether you’re dining under a pergola or strolling among the English roses and night jasmine in the picturesque cutting garden, a stay at Yarlington Lodge is pure Jane Austen—and, in fact, there are rooms named for her heroines including Jane Bennett and Mrs. Dashwood. Between all of the special touches, the simply canopied beds, the freshly churned butter and homemade ciders, a visit here feels like a sumptuous step back in time. thenewtinsomerset.com

Spanish architect Alvaro Onieva and interior designer Virginia Nieto have reimagined the historic building with a quiet contemporary sensibility that honors its original character while introducing a brighter, more f luid Mediterranean identity. Natural textures, local materials and thoughtful detailing define the interior world, while a soft, sun-washed yellow created specifically for the hotel brings warmth and cohesion to the spaces. With only 29 ocean-facing rooms, each shaped to capture the island’s shifting light and unhurried rhythm, the hotel offers an intimate retreat centred on atmosphere and connection. he desert oasis of Palm Springs just 100 miles east of Los Angeles has long been a hot spot (pun intended) for the glitterati who were bound by Hollywood studios to the “Two-Hour Rule.” Starting in the 1920s, stars of stage and screen were required to stay within a two-hour radius of Los Angeles, in case sudden film reshoots were required. The dry, restorative climate of Palm Springs had wide appeal for a celebrity clientele that grew to include Bob Hope, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, as well as the “Chairman of the Desert,” Frank Sinatra. As starlets and sunseekers alike flocked to the area, an architectural movement known as desert modernism began to f lourish. In keeping with the boundary-pushing ethos of California, mid-century architects including Richard Neutra, Donald Wexler and E. Stewart Williams began to experiment with bold materials and dramatic angles to create sleek buildings that blurred the lines between indoors and outdoors. Today, the city of roughly 45,000 leans in heavily to its art and design bona fides with Modernism Week and the Palm Springs Film Festival drawing creators from all over the world. With direct f lights from New York, Toronto, Dallas, Denver, and more, the city continues to offer an ideal escape for architecture enthusiasts, golf and tennis aficionados, foodies and anyone wanting to simply relax in flower-filled splendor by one of the city’s spectacular freeform swimming pools.

Every turn among the meandering pathways reveals something new: a pétanque court for leisurely afternoons under the trees, both padel and red clay tennis courts and two outdoor swimming pools suitable for different ages and moods. Complimentary bikes and a house car (often a Rolls-Royce or an Aston Martin) make exploring the area easy, though you’ll be hard-pressed to leave, as the surroundings are so serene. Throughout the property, common areas invite guests to linger—perhaps over classic cocktails at the Mini Bar or with an Arnold Palmer in hand at midday. The estate’s 144 accommodations are equally resplendent and feature graphic patterns—think white, red, gold and mirrors—with sumptuous beds and private patios. The rooms are far removed from the hotel’s multiple restaurants, including the maximalist mister parker’s and Counter Reformation, a chic nod to the traditional Parisian café. n Swahili, “Mapito” can translate as “pathway” or “passage.” Though it may sound like one, it’s not an exaggeration to say that a visit to the newly opened—and exceptionally special—Mapito Safari Camp near the Fort Ikoma gate of Serengeti National Park in Tanzania is a pathway to the rest of your life. The resort, the first safari camp to be part of Marriott’s distinctive Autograph Collection, offers a custom and unique experience. There will be the time before you were able to sleep under the stars thanks to the retractable canvas roof of one of Mapito’s 15 tented suites and the time after, when you pined for your own retractable roof at home—along with the constantly clear and beautiful African sky, naturally. (You’ll have to move to Africa for that!) The stunningly outfitted camp, designed by Dunia Designs in Arusha, is
fabricated from 85 percent locally sourced materials, 60 percent of which are high-impact sustainable. Special details abound everywhere, in a stool, a sofa, a bench or the rim-f low pool adjacent to Njia Restaurant, which has lights embedded within to mirror the night sky. But pay special attention to the inroom touches, including stunning hand-blown glass water bottles from Shanga embellished by handmade beadwork from Tanzanian artisans. Besides Mapito’s many local initiatives, including building a nearby state-ofthe-art Hope Centre for Girls to benefit local youth, the camp also offers rarely available night safari drives in open-air vehicles. Perhaps the only thing that beats sleeping under the Tanzanian night sky in a gorgeous tent with a retractable roof is gazing at a pride of lions lounging by the river in the dark, with only the sounds of the Serengeti breeze as a soundtrack. marriott.com ■

An OCEAN State of Mind Explora III sets a new benchmark in contemporary luxury cruising BY NATASHA WOLFF
W
hen Explora Journeys introduced its vision of modern ocean travel, it set out to replace the cadence of traditional cruising with something slower, more expansive and more considered. With the new vessel Explora III, that idea evolves again, shaped by greater scale, refined design and a deeper commitment to life lived well at sea. The newest ship in the f leet is the brand’s first powered by liquefied natural gas and its most spatially generous yet. At 63 feet longer than its sister ships, Explora III has been designed to heighten a sense of openness throughout every deck. Public areas now offer 210 square feet of space per guest, supported by a near one-to-one host-to-guest ratio that keeps service highly personal and quietly attentive. The effect is less that of a cruise ship and more a floating contemporary hotel where time feels unstructured and intentionally unhurried. Accommodations continue that same philosophy of ease and proportion. The ship features 461 oceanfront accommodations, each designed with a residential sensibility that favors scale, light and privacy. Among the most distinctive is a second Owner’s Residence designed by Patricia Urquiola and spanning approximately 3,000 square feet. It opens onto an expansive aft wraparound terrace with uninterrupted sea views, a private outdoor infinity whirlpool, a marble bathroom and an in-suite steam room that together create a secluded world suspended above the water.
Life on board is shaped by the sea and expressed through wellness at every turn. The Conservatory Pool & Bar becomes a central gathering point beneath a retractable glass roof with a 48-foot all-weather pool that shifts the mood from sunlit retreat by day to silent cinema beneath the stars at night. Across the ship, guests will find three additional heated outdoor pools, including an adults-only space, along with 60 private cabanas that extend the feeling of privacy into open air. At the spa, treatments draw inspiration from the rhythms and textures of the ocean. The experience is designed for restoration rather than spectacle with new offerings such as the Sava Sound Pod, which uses calibrated sound frequencies and vibration to encourage deep relaxation. The fitness program is equally expansive, with Technogym and Pilates reformer equipment, private training studios and an open air fitness deck positioned to keep the horizon in view. Outside, movement continues across an extended running track and a multi-use sports court designed for padel, pickleball and basketball. Dining ref lects a global sensibility anchored in quality and atmosphere rather than formality. Signature venues include Med Yacht Club with its coastal Mediterranean inf luence, Fil Rouge with French-inspired refinement, Marble & Co. Grill focused on premium cuts and Sakura with its contemporary Pan-Asian focus. New and reimagined experiences expand the rhythm of dining at sea; the Chef’s Kitchen offers intimate private dining, while Chef’s Table by Explora Journeys introduces bespoke menus created

for a handful of guests at a time. Anthology elevates Italian tasting menus into a curated experience, while Emporium Marketplace brings a more relaxed, light-filled approach to international dining. Shore Club on 11 adds a beach club spirit to the upper decks and completes the ship’s varied culinary landscape. Evenings unfold across 12 bars and lounges designed for different moods and moments. Guests can move from The Malt Whisky Bar to an outdoor cigar lounge or settle into The Cellar by Explora Journeys, where expert sommeliers guide tastings across classic and emerging wine regions. For families, the ship introduces a more considered approach to multigenerational travel. The Nautilus Club is reimagined into two dedicated spaces that ref lect different stages of childhood. Nautilus Club Juniors welcomes children ages 3 to 11 with supervised daily programming, while Nautilus Club Teens offers a dynamic environment for guests ages 12 to 17 with activities designed to balance independence and engagement. Together, they allow families to share the journey while still preserving individual space and experience. As luxury travel continues to shift toward privacy, wellness and emotional connection, Explora III positions itself firmly within that evolution. It is a ship built not around spectacle but around space and stillness, where the ocean becomes the defining backdrop to a more intentional way of traveling. explorajourneys.com ■

When Adam Scott was a teenager growing up in Santa Cruz, California, he was obsessed with movies. Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro movies in particular. Sure, he was on the swim team, played water polo and acted in school theater, but, unlike his friends, Scott kept pictures of the actor from Raging Bull, Mean Streets and Taxi Driver in his locker at school. “It’s all I really cared about,” says Scott, in a conversation on a day off from filming his hit Apple TV series Severance. “De Niro is so fundamental to why I wanted to be an actor in the first place, to what I’m doing and why I’m doing it.” So, to play opposite the 83-year-old De Niro—as his estranged son, no less— in the new Netflix film The Whisper Man, well, for the 53-year-old Scott, it was a career highlight. “Being there on set with him was so special, really inspiring to see him working so hard, to make it as good as it could possibly be,” says Scott, who found De Niro to be a “sweet person and a cool guy.” Scott didn’t talk about his longtime admiration for De Niro during their days on set together in New Jersey. “No, no, no, no way,” says Scott. “I don’t know how that would help us. I wouldn’t want to cheapen anything and make him uncomfortable. I didn’t want to bring that element into it. Maybe it would embarrass him. Still, if you’re working with someone who’s fundamental to why you’re doing what you’re doing, you’re going to learn from that person. It was incredible.” Based on the novel by Alex North and directed by James Ashcroft, The Whisper Man has shades of Silence of the Lambs. Scott plays Tom Kennedy, a widowed crime writer who moves to a quiet town only for his son to be abducted. Michelle Monaghan is the detective assigned to the case. De Niro plays Scott’s father, a retired police detective with the key to unlocking the identity of a mysterious serial killer, the so-called “Whisper Man.” Scott, who remains an unequivocal movie buff—he watched Raiders of the Lost Ark four times during the week before our interview—was a big fan of Ashcroft’s 2021 film Coming Home in the Dark and reached out to the filmmaker. “I’d watched it a couple of times, and I just had to talk to him,” Scott says. Then The Whisper Man came up. “I thought it was a really good and disturbing script, and I thought through James’ lens, it could be something really special.” Indeed, somehow Ashcroft will make you shudder the next time you stir a pot of macaroni and cheese. Of course, there was the added bonus of getting to work with his idol, De Niro. “Well, that’s a lifelong thing, at least for this actor,” Scott says. Despite the macabre subject matter, “the tone on set was light, and it was a fun project to work on,” Scott recalls. “Hopefully, no matter what you’re making, it can be a fun experience and you try not to get weighed down by what’s serious or scary.”

Scott always intended to work in drama. “In acting school, I was dead set on being a serious actor. That’s always what I saw for myself, and when I first started out, I took myself very seriously,” he explains. But a role in the 2008 comedy Step Brothers changed that. “I watched Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly and Adam McKay. They’d throw everything against the wall to see what sticks. That was a revolutionary way of working for me—the improvisation and the lack of rules. I really connected with that, and I felt that I never wanted to go back,” Scott recalls. Shortly afterward, he appeared in the sitcoms Party Down and Parks and Recreation, finding traction in the world of funny. “That’s when I finally realized, This is what a career is. I found a certain freedom in my work. There’s a lack of rules with comedy.” Scott landed the Step Brothers role 13 years after leaving acting school, and despite the long wait for a big break, “it’s fortunate the way that it happened. If I’d gotten Scream or Scream 2 or I Know What You Did Last Summer, all of which I auditioned for when I was around 20, I wouldn’t have been able to handle the attention. I wasn’t good enough to turn it into something.” After Parks ended, Scott strove to be considered for dramatic roles again. “I fought for Big Little Lies,” he says, securing the role of Reese Witherspoon’s husband in the 2017 HBO drama. “That really helped show that I could do something else. I doubt I would have been able to land Severance without it.” Severance has turned out to be a phenomenon, acclaimed by audiences and critics alike. “I don’t know if we’ll ever know exactly why,” says Scott. “We knew we all loved it, but we figured it was maybe too weird.” When the show premiered in 2022, “we were all emerging from the pandemic, and people were reassessing their relationship to work,” says Scott. “It didn’t look or feel like anything else, but for whatever reason, it was connecting.” It’s been some time since season two wrapped, “so we were all anxious to get back [for season three]. It’s a show that requires so much focus emotionally and physically. It’s an all-encompassing project. It’s a hyperspecific tone, and it just takes all of you to make it. It’s a huge challenge, but that’s why it’s so fun. We have a blast.” Making Severance takes Scott away from his family in Los Angeles, his least favorite part of filming in New York. “After years of working constantly, for which I’m super grateful, it’s also important to understand the power of no, to know what it is you really want to spend your time doing and spend time with your family.” When his teenage kids with wife, producer Naomi Scott, come East, “that’s when we go out and do New York things.” Left to his own devices, Scott spends his weekends recovering from the stress of work, which often includes watching tons of movies and television. “It’s kind of my favorite thing to do,” Scott says. “For me, an iPad is still a magical device.” It reminds him of his teenage years when movies were “all I thought about and all I cared about.” He watched so much that he broke the VCR in his room and his dad had to buy him a new one. “It just stopped working,” Scott recalls. “I wonder if anyone’s ever worn out a VCR.” At 16, in between bedroom film festivals, Scott played the role of 60-year-old Joe Keller in his high school’s production of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons. Yes, it was a big reach for a teenager, and there was something silly about how seriously they all took it. Occasionally, Scott’s bald cap would fall off. But he still recalls the one performance where it all just became magical. “I was in that place of everything clicking and all I could think was, This is what it’s supposed to be and this is all I want to do,” Scott recalls. “I’ve been chasing that feeling ever since.” ■

et on a lush acre in Los Altos Hills, California, a modern family home embraces everything that makes Northern California living so appealing. Gardens wind through the property, a pool and tennis court invite outdoor living and expansive windows blur the line between inside and out. Its transformation is the work of California design studio Hommeboys, led by Alex MutterRottmayer and Austin Carrier. Commissioned by a tech industry family with three children, the designers reimagined the property through an extensive renovation and additions, creating a home equally suited to everyday life and frequent entertaining. “The lot was exceptional and really dictated the design direction in terms of creating that indoor-outdoor living experience for the clients,” says Carrier. “The main rooms of the home are meant to be very open and airy, with natural plaster and stone in shades of cream and beige. In the office, children’s rooms, bathrooms and family room, we leaned toward moody hues to create a cozy and intimate experience.”

FOR THIS PROJECT, WE FOCUSED HEAVILY ON MATERIALITY, USING NATURAL MATERIALS IN INNOVATIVE AND UNEXPECTED WAYS. Rather than chasing trends, Hommeboys focused on timeless materials. A richly textured Dedar wallpaper turns the office into one of the home’s standout spaces. “For this project, we focused heavily on materiality, using natural materials in innovative and unexpected ways,” says Mutter-Rottmayer. “While the vernacular leans modern, we wanted to ensure that it had a timelessness to it so the design would endure with the family and their lifestyle.” Although unmistakably modern, the home never feels stark. Instead, it’s defined by texture, craftsmanship and a deep connection to its surroundings, proving that great design isn’t just about how a home looks, but how it lives. ■

Inn LOVE
GLEN ALLSOP
East Hampton’s The Hedges Inn reopens with a fresh design by David Netto The Hedges Inn has officially reopened in East Hampton following a full-scale interior redesign by David Netto. Chosen by hoteliers Andrew and Sarah Wetenhall (Palm Beach’s The Colony), Netto brought his signature sophisticated yet irreverent style and deep East End roots to the project. The redesign encompasses all interior spaces, including the Inn’s 12 guest rooms, restaurant, bar and public areas, with antique and vintage pieces layered alongside custom furnishings and handcrafted details for a collected, residential feel. Highlights include a custom hand-painted de Gournay scenic wall covering created by Wetenhall and Netto for the parlor room and inspired by the landscapes and landmarks of East Hampton, as well as a reimagined restaurant and bar experience following the breakout debut of Swifty’s at The Hedges last season. This past summer, hairstylist and beauty entrepreneur Paul Labrecque was in residence and the hotel uses the brand’s products for its bathroom amenities. “So much of the magic of The Hedges was already there—the history, the intimacy, the charm and the feeling of an authentic East Hampton home with a story behind it,” says Wetenhall. “In seeking to make it the most beautiful and fully realized version of itself, David understood immediately how to lean into the property’s character and coziness while elevating it with a sense of sophistication that feels completely natural. His connection to East Hampton is incredibly important; he understands the community in a personal way, and his work has a timelessness that never feels forced or overly decorated.” thehedgeseasthampton.com

This display of more than 60 drawings by artists including Lee Krasner, Adriena Šimotová and Ann Hamilton explores paper and its multifaceted nature as an artistic material. “Paper is a material susceptible to creases, rips and other surface blemishes and undulations, yet it also demonstrates remarkable strength,” says curator Kelly Montana. “Artists are aware of these attributes and, at times, work with paper specifically to cultivate these properties. In doing so, their work can speak to resilience across various shared vulnerabilities of the human condition, such as precarity, fraught interpersonal relationships and societal instability.” menil.org Amy Sillman “Rome #13” (2014)

The property, originally built in 1939 as a private residence, showcases intimate spaces, richly crafted details and a convenient yet quiet setting. “Beverly Hills is often associated with grandeur, but Hôtel Lili takes more of an intimate, design savvy and hyper-local approach,” says Brosh. “Instead of high-gloss opulence, we focused on mood, texture and storytelling, and the result feels residential, layered and a little mysterious.” Designed by Palisociety’s in-house design team, the property’s 44 guest rooms over three stories feature a color palette of soft whites and pale grays juxtaposed with warm camel, orange and mustard hues. Highly bespoke touches such as striped patterns, wallpapered ceilings, sculptural glass lighting, handpainted details, custom-made furniture and rich draperies are found throughout the common areas and guest rooms. The menu focuses on ingredientdriven coastal Greek cooking, including whole grilled fish, crudos and tartares, lamb chops and vegetables. Theodore Kondylis of Kondylis NYC envisioned the space as a sculptural, earth-driven sanctuary translating Cycladic forms and a sun-washed palette through a distinctly urban lens grounded in tactile materials such as travertine with red accents, microcement, hand-troweled plaster and warm oak and ash. selenerestaurants.com

Treat Medspa is NoMad’s newest beauty destination, founded by industry veterans Ryan Bloch, Lindsay Malachowski and Sarah Bonner. Every appointment begins with Aura, an AI-powered 3D imaging system that creates a detailed map of the face, measuring everything from facial volume to skin quality. Instead of relying on before-and-after photos alone, patients can track measurable changes over time, bringing a new level of transparency to aesthetic treatments. “When patients can actually see what’s happening to their skin and body over time, the conversation shifts from promises to proof,” says Bonner. That philosophy extends throughout Treat Medspa’s carefully curated menu, which includes Sofwave for collagen stimulation, XERF for skin tightening, Emface for needle-free facial toning, Emsculpt Neo for body contouring and regenerative salmon DNA facials. treatmedspa.com

John Hardy
John Hardy has opened an 1,800-square-foot SoHo boutique that bridges the handcraft traditions of Bali with the energy of downtown New York. The jewelry store’s interior palette is warm and elemental, with blond oak flooring, slatted oak walls and terra-cotta orange offering a contrast to the sleek modernity of concrete tables and furnishings by Marc Newsom and Warren McArthur. “When designing the John Hardy SoHo flagship, we asked ourselves, ‘How do we make a space that feels rich but also comfortable and relaxing?’ There’s a lightness to the space that welcomes the casual discovery of the collections. We want customers to be able to touch and experience the brand,” says the brand’s creative chairman, Reed Krakoff. johnhardy.com

Tiffany & Co. unveils a Peter Marino-designed flagship at South Coast Plaza where architecture, art and jewelry share the spotlight Tiffany & Co. has opened a new boutique at South Coast Plaza. Designed by architect Peter Marino, the more than 15,000-squarefoot boutique marks Tiffany’s latest evolution in retail, bringing the jeweler’s newest global store concept to Southern California. The result is less traditional boutique than cultural salon, balancing the brand’s storied New York heritage with the light, landscape and artistic spirit of the California coast. The sculptural façade features a textured hammered-metal finish inspired by the work of Tiffany silversmith Edward C. Moore, translating one of the house’s earliest craft traditions into a distinctly modern architectural statement. Inside, California becomes part of the narrative. Large-scale digital installations by artist Oyoram envelop the entrance with sweeping coastal vistas inspired by Newport Beach and Laguna Beach, while architect Hugh Dutton’s custom light sculpture illuminates many of the brand’s defining collections, including HardWear, Bird on a Rock, Knot, Sixteen Stone, T and Lock. Throughout the boutique, museum-worthy art sits comfortably alongside extraordinary jewelry. Damien Hirst’s “Tiffany Miraculous,” “Tiffany Smashing,” “Tiffany Adorable” and “Tiffany Dish” greet
visitors near the entrance, while Michelangelo Pistoletto’s “Color and Light” anchors the All About Love salon. In the watch salon, Vik Muniz reimagines Monet in his “Water Lilies after Monet,” reinforcing the dialogue between fine art and fine jewelry. The flagship also celebrates California’s unique place in Tiffany’s gemological history. Archival displays highlight gemstones with deep ties to the region, including a rare specimen of morganite from Mesa Grande exhibited for the first time in a Tiffany store. The presentation is accompanied by historic pieces featuring kunzite, the California gemstone named for Tiffany’s first chief gemologist, Dr. George Frederick Kunz, whose discoveries helped shape the house’s legacy of colored stones. For collectors, the boutique’s private High Jewelry salons offer Tiffany at its most rarefied. Dedicated spaces showcase one-of-a-kind creations alongside Jean Schlumberger masterpieces, while design details—including a Tiffany Studios lamp and Urs Fischer’s “Tiffany Cosmos”—underscore the house’s enduring dialogue between artistry and craftsmanship. A new Blue Box Café by Daniel Boulud will bring a seasonally inspired daytime menu, including breakfast and tea, to the flagship. tiffany.com

The Breakers Palm Beach has unveiled a reimagined Beach Club restaurant, overseen by longtime brand collaborator Tihany Design. The oceanfront, day-to-evening, al fresco restaurant is situated within the resort’s private Beach Club, reserved exclusively for hotel guests and club members. At the southern end of the iconic, 140-acre property, natural light and a calming coastal palette of sun-washed stone, bleached oak and soft azure tones set the stage for convivial dining. Outdoors, the terrace is renewed with a European-inspired checkered floor and surrounded by lush landscaping reminiscent of the Mediterranean coast. Custom furniture, natural stone, hand-painted tile, brass details, textured wall finishes and modular chandeliers reflect the artisanal spirit of Italy’s coastal regions. The palette draws from the earthy sophistication of terra-cotta and travertine, balanced by crisp whites, warm woods and gentle maritime blues. thebreakers.com

EAT HERE NOW For inspiration for their new Mission Bay watering hole Golden Rule, chef David Nayfeld and Matt Brewer of Back Home Hospitality (Che Fico, Che Fico Pizzeria, Via Aurelia, Bubbelah) turned to their roots along with two beloved basketball teams: the Golden State Warriors and the Golden State Valkyries. “We wanted the space to reflect our connection and ties to the Bay Area,” says Nayfeld of the bar located in Thrive City. “For me, growing up a Warriors fan, there’s a real sense of nostalgia tied to basketball. I started paying close attention to the sport in the ’90s, which, to me, was such an iconic time for the game and really was my golden era of basketball. We wanted to capture that feeling and energy in the space without it feeling overly themed or kitschy. Incorporating the Warriors’ jersey colors was a way to honor that history and connection in a more thoughtful, understated way.” The bar—designed by local interior designer Jon de la Cruz of DLC-ID—pays homage to the Warriors’ original 1962 jerseys with colorful, orange, red and blue tile, yellow walls and black-and-white graphic wallpaper. Menu items include snacks such as chili-and-lime-dusted potato chips and house cocktails like the rum- and cold brew–infused Bi-Coastal, a wink to Nayfeld’s culinary days in New York City. “What’s so cool about a bar is that it’s such an egalitarian environment where everyone comes together on equal footing,” says Nayfeld. “Our role is to create that experience by delivering great drinks and engaging with people the way we would want to be engaged with ourselves.” goldenrulebar.com

Cartier’s latest high jewelry creation transforms one of the house’s most enduring emblems into a dazzling feat of gem-setting and sculpture BY NATASHA WOLFF
FALL 2026

C Necklace in 18k gold with topaz, garnets, emeralds, onyx and diamonds, price upon request, CARTIER, cartier.com
artier has never been shy about celebrating the animal kingdom, but few creatures command quite as much presence as the tiger. The latest addition to the house’s high jewelry collection Le Chœur des Pierres brings the majestic feline roaring back into the spotlight in a necklace that is as technically astonishing as it is visually arresting. At first glance, the tiger appears almost alive, poised mid-stride as it moves across a cascade of imperial topazes. Every whisker, muscle and paw has been sculpted with remarkable precision, a testament to the maison’s enduring mastery of figurative jewelry. Rather than treating the animal as a decorative motif, the maison renders it with an almost cinematic realism, capturing the quiet tension of a predator moments before it pounces. The necklace, designed by Jacqueline KarachiLangane, Cartier’s director of high jewelry creation, is a study in color as much as craftsmanship. Imperial topazes glow in warm golden tones while yellow, orange, brown and white diamonds mingle with garnets and smaller topazes to recreate the tiger’s rich coat. Graphic touches of onyx trace the necklace, echoing the creature’s distinctive markings and adding bold contrast to the composition. The design pays homage to one of Cartier’s longestrunning creative signatures. Tigers have appeared in the house’s archives for nearly a century, from naturalistic jewels of the 1920s to the bold animal creations championed by legendary creative director Jeanne Toussaint beginning in the 1930s. Le Chœur des Pierres continues that legacy while pushing the possibilities of contemporary high jewelry, balancing lifelike sculpture with extraordinary gem-setting.
