DR. LYNELL TIPPEN WRIGHT, 1ST VICE PRESIDENT & MEMBERSHIP SERVICES
Dear Sorors,
As the vibrant summer months transition into the cooler months of Fall, I am reminded of the quiet power of gratitude November is a month that prompts us to pause, reflect, and appreciate the individuals and experiences that enrich our lives.
In our efforts to positively impact our communities through a shared project or support one another, each of these moments are small sparks of connection. These sparks, when acknowledged and appreciated, become something more. They begin to glow. Gratitude is that glow. It deepens our sense of community, reminds us of our shared purpose, and fuels the relationships that last a lifetime

In Membership Services, we often witness these glowing moments: a member stepping up to help, a warm welcome extended to a new or visiting soror, or simply someone expressing, “I’m glad you’re here” These are significant moments, ones that cement our connectivity and Sisterhood bonds.
TheGlow:AcknowledgetheSpark
This month, the Awards & Recognition Subcommittee will spotlight a soror through “Look Who is Sparkling in HMAC: A Giving Heart of Service.” In addition, we will salute sorors who serve our country with dignity, integrity, and valor.
We honor and express our appreciation for our Delta DEARS, our Dedicated, Energetic, Active, Respected Sorors This distinguished status is conferred upon sorors who are 62 years of age or older and have demonstrated exceptional service and commitment to the Sorority. If you will become a DEAR in the upcoming sorority year, please contact me. We want to celebrate you.

DR. LYNELL TIPPEN WRIGHT, 1ST VICE PRESIDENT & MEMBERSHIP SERVICES CHAIR

Like any flame, gratitude needs attention and requires intention. Fostering strong relationships and sustaining the vitality of our sisterhood begins with knowing one another As a collective, we will take individual headshots on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
The Reclamation Subcommittee will launch the “Ignite the Spark Challenge.” We have set a SMART goal for the year; Sorors, we need each of you to help us meet and exceed it
We are grateful for all the sorors who have been reclaimed and are now members of HMAC! The New Member Orientation Subcommittee is hosting this biennium’s first New Member Orientation on Saturday, November 15, 2025 Please register and come out to learn more about HMAC.

Again, let me take a moment to say, “Thank you” to each of you for the energy, time, and heart you bring. Let’s continue to observe and nurture these sparks of connection, approaching them with genuine gratitude. Gratitude, at its core, serves as a source of light. Light, no matter how small, changes everything for the better.
With Sisterly Love,
Dr. Lynell Tippen Wright
1st Vice President Chair, Membership Services

As we build the momentum into our sorority year, I am inspired by the energy and enthusiasm that radiates through HMAC. The Program Planning & Development Committees are off to a strong start each one committed to creating meaningful programs that reflect the values and vision of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc From uplifting youth and advancing economic empowerment to advocating for justice, promoting holistic wellness, expanding global awareness, and strengthening community resilience, HMAC’s PP&D Committees are laying the groundwork for impactful and transformative community impact.
But our success depends on YOU! Every HMAC program, initiative, and service project is made stronger by the collective power of sorors who engage, empower, and execute with purpose. Engagement means showing up, lending your time, talents, and ideas to move the work forward. Empowerment happens when we uplift one another sharing knowledge, celebrating successes, and demonstrating excellence in every space we occupy Execution is where vision meets action; it’s the moment our planning turns into progress for the communities we serve.

I encourage every soror to be an active and invested member of at least one PP&D committee. Whether your passion lies in educational development, economic empowerment, international awareness, physical and mental health, or political involvement, your participation matters Our committees have ambitious goals this year, and your unique gifts will help turn those plans into measurable impact.
When we engage fully, empower each other, and execute with excellence, we embody the true spirit of Delta Let’s continue to lead with purpose, plan with intention, and serve with unwavering dedication. Together, we ensure that HMAC’s spark continues to light the way igniting purpose, service, and sisterhood throughout Houston and beyond.
In Sisterly Love, Kameron Brackins
2 Vice President nd Chair, PP&D

This is more than just breakfast. It’s a chance to spark sisterhood, joy, and nourish connections, starting our meetings with warmth and gratitude. Thank you for being part of it!

Art and politics are deeply intertwined, with art often serving as a powerful tool for political expression, commentary, and social change. Art is used to reflect society, critique power structures, challenge norms, and advocate for social justice.
Our Arts & Letters Committee hosted its first meeting of The Novel Idea: An HMAC Book Club in September, and it was an inspiring morning! We explored A Free Man of Color by Barbara Hambly with fellow bibliophiles gathered for rich conversation and connection.
Soror Naomi Christopher and Soror LaToya Bolden led us through an in-depth discussion on race, justice, courage, and advocacy, all issues that not only shaped the novel’s characters, but also continue to shape our world today.
What made the fellowship truly special was the safe and welcoming space we created to share openly. Women of different ages, shades of melanin, and life experiences offered perspectives that were powerful, vulnerable, and deeply meaningful
It was more than a book discussion – it was a reminder of how important it is to come together, listen, and learn from one another. We look forward to keeping the pages turning and the conversations flowing at our future gatherings!
October saw a second first when A&L hosted the inaugural Sisterhood Soundcheck at Holy Family HTX on Navigation Boulevard. This special song series is designed to rekindle the sense of awe and honor the musical traditions of our distinguished sisterhood. By focusing on indepth practice of our Delta songs, Sisterhood Soundcheck creates meaningful opportunities for members to connect with the rich musical heritage of Delta.

During this session, we explored three cherished selections: the National Hymn, the Delta Prayer, and the Delta Mitzpah. A dedicated group of sorors attended, engaging in thoughtful discussions about the history and significance of these songs Together, we clarified lyrics and paid close attention to notable pauses within the music, further deepening our understanding and appreciation.
Part of the session was devoted to practicing the alto harmonies, allowing members to experiment and strengthen their musical skills Throughout the event, the organizers ensured that Sisterhood Soundcheck remained a safe and welcoming space for everyone, regardless of singing experience or skill level. The gathering provided a valuable opportunity for everyone to practice, learn, and embrace something new within the supportive environment of sisterhood. We have more Sisterhood Soundcheck sessions in the future and encourage all members of DST to attend

In October, the Awards and Recognition Subcommittee recognized Soror Donna Scott through "Look Who is Sparkling in HMAC: Radiance of Virtue" for exemplifying unwavering integrity, accountability, and moral strength. Her steadfast commitment to Delta’s values makes her a shining example of leadership deeply rooted in virtue.
In November, the subcommittee will honor another soror through “Look Who is Sparkling in HMAC: A Giving Heart of Service” for her generosity and devoted commitment to serving others, thereby embodying Delta’s enduring legacy of giving with heart and purpose. In addition, we will pay tribute to sorors who have faithfully served in the United States Armed Forces and courageously dedicated their lives to serve and protect our country.
A sneak peek at the upcoming Sparkling in HMAC Awards:

As we continue to honor the light that shines within HMAC, may we carry forward the spirit of service, leadership, and love that defines us, working together to uplift our communities while carrying Delta’s legacy into the future.

October was a month filled with meaning, laughter, and heartfelt connection. Sorors came together wearing shades of pink and purple in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness and Domestic Violence Awareness Month a visible show of support and solidarity for causes that touchsomanylives.
We also took a special moment to honor our SPARK Soror, celebrating her light, dedication, and the positive impact she continues to make within our chapter. Her recognition served as a reminderofthemanywaysweupliftandinspireoneanotherthroughserviceandexample.
In addition to our moments of fellowship, the chapter discussed upcoming events and initiatives, lookingaheadtoopportunitiesforengagement, advocacy, andcontinuedcommunityimpact. The discussions reflected not only our commitment to service but also our excitement for all that’s to comethissororityyear.
As we continue moving through the fall season, the October meeting reminded us that our strengthliesinbothourpurposeandourunity.Welookforwardtogatheringagainnextmonth readytoserve, connect, andgrowtogetherinsisterhood.

The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) convened in Houston, Texas, for its 73rd Biennial National Leadership Conference, a four-day gathering that reaffirmed the enduring strength, unity, and purpose of the Divine Nine. With the theme “Historically Stronger Together, the Divine Nine Family: A Lifelong Journey of Connection,” the conference brought together Sorors and Fraters from across the nation for a powerful experience rooted in education, empowerment, and excellence
From keynote addresses to civic engagement panels, the conference offered a dynamic blend of inspiration and action. Attendees participated in workshops, explored the vendor marketplace, and connected with future leaders at the college and career fair all while celebrating the legacy and future of Black Greek-lettered organizations. Our chapter proudly attended the 73rd Biennial National Leadership Conference with over 20 dedicated members, deepening our bonds and commitment to the Divine Nine’s legacy of unity and impact.

On Friday, October 31, the Social Justice Luncheon delivered a stirring moment of reflection and challenge. Rev. Shavon ArlineBradley, President & CEO of the National Council of Negro Women, delivered a keynote titled “Here We Go Again – The More Things Change, the More They Stay the Same.” Her words pierced through complacency and called attendees to examine the intersection of privilege, purpose, and progress
Among her most resonant declarations:
“Some of us are living in an extreme form of Black delusion of believing that we can agree to disagree on politics but that we don’t have to agree on the advancement of Black people.”
“Denounce that you would rather paddle someone and stroll over strolling to the polls.”
“What would our founders say if they found out that we have gotten comfortable in our privileged lives and are leaving others behind?”
Her message was clear: the Divine Nine must not only honor their founders’ legacy but also embody it through bold, collective action.

PowerinParticipation:Voting&CivicEngagementPanel
Later that day, a dynamic panel on voting and civic engagement emphasized grassroots mobilization and the importance of meeting communities where they are. Panelists included Councilman Jefferey Boney, Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth, and Representative Lauren Ashley Simmons. Their message was both practical and empowering, with one standout reminder: “You don’t have to have a title to be effective”
PublicMeetingwithRolandMartin:AVisionforCollectivePower
The evening culminated in a powerful public meeting hosted by Fox 26 News Anchor Delaun Dillard (Kappa Alpha Psi), featuring keynote speaker Roland Martin (Alpha Phi Alpha) Martin issued a clarion call for Divine Nine organizations to leverage their collective influence as a self-funded infrastructure capable of driving systemic change. His address was met with resounding affirmation as leaders from each of the Divine Nine organizations, including our very own national President and CEO Cheryl Turner, offered greetings, gratitude, and a shared commitment to the work ahead
As the conference closed, one truth rang clear: the Divine Nine are not just historically strong they are historically stronger together. The 73rd Biennial National Leadership Conference was more than a gathering; it was a recommitment to the lifelong journey of connection, advocacy, and transformation.
