PERCY LY KABIR, 2025-2027 BIENNIUM CHAPTER PRESIDENT
power of Delta sisterhood. As we step boldly into this new chapter, we do so with sharpened vision and a deepened commitment to the values that define us: sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social action January holds a special place in our hearts It is our sacred time to honor the 22 courageous women who, in 1913, dared to reimagine what leadership and advocacy could look like for Black women in America Their boldness continues to call us higher, reminding us that Founders Day is more than a celebration, it is a recommitment to why we serve.
We serve because our communities still need advocates We serve because our youth still need champions

∙We serve because our foremothers built a legacy that demands excellence.
And we serve because Delta women have always been and will always be agents of change

Looking Ahead with Purpose
As we embrace the journey ahead, may we carry the spirit of our Founders undaunted, visionary, and committed to excellence Here is to a year where our service deepens, our sisterhood strengthens, and our impact radiates across Houston and beyond.
Cheers to 2026, Sorors let’s make it extraordinary

DR. LYNELL TIPPEN WRIGHT, 1ST VICE PRESIDENT & MEMBERSHIP SERVICES CHAIR
Happy New Year! Every January presents an opportunity to pause, reflect, and reaffirm our commitments to ourselves and to one another. At this time of year, many individuals write resolutions focused on self-improvement and strengthening interpersonal connections. The strength of HMAC is founded on the power of the collective and the bond of our sisterhood. In 2026, let us continue to cultivate our sisterhood and Connect with Intention.
Connection is more than attendance or engagement It is checking in; it’s reaching out and ensuring every soror feels seen, valued, and supported. When we connect across lines, generations, and experiences, we shine brighter. Membership Services remains committed to fostering meaningful opportunities that encourage recognition, retention, reclamation, and sustainability of our sisterhood.
Let’s begin 2026, centered on connecting with intention. For instance, connect with a line sister you haven’t spoken to in a while. Invite a soror to a Sisterhood Connection or Reclamation event. If you are new to HMAC, attend New Member Orientation. Connect with the chapter’s mission by showing up, serving, and sharing your gifts. Every interaction strengthens the collective light of HMAC.
As we continue our journey and serve our community, let us remember that you don’t join Membership Services you are Membership Services. Let’s work together to make 2026 a time of meaningful connection, fresh purpose, and a sisterhood that shines even brighter.
With Love and Intention, Dr Lynell Tippen Wright
1st Vice President Chair, Membership Services

The Southwest Region Awards submission process is more than an administrative exercise it is a powerful opportunity for HMAC to tell our story Each program, partnership, and initiative we submit reflects the countless hours of planning, service, and sisterhood that define our chapter’s commitment to serving the community and advancing Delta’s mission.
Throughout this Regional biennium, HMAC’s PP&D committees have implemented impactful programs that uplift economic empowerment, educate youth, advocate for justice, promote international awareness, and encourage health and wellness The awards process allows us to thoughtfully document that work, highlight measurable outcomes, and demonstrate how our efforts align with national priorities while meeting the unique needs of our community. Submitting our programs for consideration to the Southwest Region Awards Committee ensures that HMAC’s impact is visible, recognized, and preserved as part of the broader Southwest Region legacy.
All eligible programs between July 1, 2024, and March 15, 2026, may be submitted for consideration across a wide range of chapter, member, and collegiate award categories. There are award categories for programs led by non-PP&D Committees as well. Submissions will be accepted electronically beginning January 12, 2026, with deadline of March 30, 2026. Each award requires a separate submission, including a concise narrative and supporting documentation that captures the purpose, creativity, partnerships, and results of the program The specfic criteria for each award can be found in the official Southwest Region Award Packet.
Participation in the awards process is a collective effort. Committee chairs, program leads, and members are encouraged to collaborate in identifying programs worthy of submission and gathering documentation that highlights our excellence By doing so, we not only compete for recognition we affirm the value of our service and celebrate our accomplishments
Beyond recognition, the awards submission process is a moment of reflection and accountability; it challenges us to pause and reflect on why we do the work. It’s an opportunity for HMAC to assess community needs addressed, partnerships leveraged, and results achieved whether through attendance, advocacy, education, or sustained community benefit These submissions serve as a written record of our chapter’s excellence and ensure that the impact of our work is both visible and verifiable. This is our moment to ensure that the dedication, innovation, and heart behind HMAC’s work are seen and celebrated. Let us take full advantage of this opportunity to showcase how HMAC continues to make a meaningful and measurable difference in the communities we serve
Kameron Bracki s 2 Vice President nd Chair, PP&D

INSIGHTS FROM YOUR SECRETARIES
PAULA LYRSE, RECORDING SECRETARY & DR. KRISTY LOVE, CORRESPONDING SECRETARY

Did you know? Meeting minutes are designed to capture what was done not everything that was said. In alignment with Robert’s Rules of Order, Newly Revised, minutes reflect actions, motions, and outcomes, keeping our records clear and efficient.
Questions or clarifications? I’m always happy to help just send an email.
Clear records. Strong governance. Purposeful progress.
A quick heads-up on USPS postmarks: the date stamped now reflects when mail is processed at the regional sorting facility, not the day it’s dropped off. Please keep this in mind when mailing time-sensitive items.
While you’re at it, take a moment to confirm that your contact information is up to date in the chapter website and member portal—this helps us stay connected and ensures you don’t miss important correspondence.
Staying informed. Staying connected. Serving with excellence.

Congratulations on a New Chapter: Retirements!

SororJannaWilliams
Congratulations on your Recent Engagement!

Hosted by HMAC with the men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the festive evening paired music, fellowship, and standout sweaters with the joy of giving, as guests donated new, unwrapped toys to help spread holiday cheer.

NPHC Houston hosted a joyful Motown Christmas following its December general body meeting. Sponsored by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., the evening brought together fellowship, festive music, games, and holiday cheer in true D9 spirit.

The HMAC Collegiate Connection Committee showed up in full force yet again but this time at the University of Houston for another round of Final Exam Survival Box magic! On December 1st, forty Zeta Sigma sorors were showered with boxes filled to the brim with study tools, snacks, self-care goodies, and all the sisterly motivation they need to power through finals.
With UH finals kicking off December 10th, our timing was spot on! It was the perfect boost before the books took over! And just like at TSU, our goal was simple: Uplift, Encourage, and show our collegiate sorors they’re never walking this journey alone.
A massive THANK YOU to every soror who donated and to our Collegiate Connection Committee for assembling, stuffing, delivering, and adding that extra HMAC sparkle to every box. We couldn’t do this without your heart and hustle!
To our collegiate sorors: Take a deep breath, trust your brilliance, and remember to finish strong. You’ve got this, and we’ve got you!

JoinusforRedTalk! A meaningful conversation honoring legacy, leadership, and love. This intimate dialogue celebrates the wisdom, grace, and continued service of our sorors, offering reflection, connection, and inspiration rooted in sisterhood.

For generations, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has stood as a beacon of strength, scholarship, and service. One of the most powerful ways we honor that legacy is by investing intentionally in our youth through programs like Delta Academy In every session, every conversation, and every mentorship moment, we engage in a sacred act: passing the torch to the next generation of visionary youngwomen.
The Founders of our sisterhood understood that leadership is cultivated, not inherited. They worked tirelessly to create opportunities for Black women and girls to thrive in spaces that once shut us out. Today, we carry their flame with pride, and we pass it forward with purpose. Delta Academy allows us to guide young girls in discovering their own brilliance, their own voices, their own capacity for greatness Each interaction becomes a spark, illuminating the path aheadforfutureleaders.
The world our Delta Academy participants live in is evolving rapidly. They are navigating new technologies, shifting cultural landscapes, and expectations that are higher than ever. To prepare them for this reality, we must do more than teach skills; we must model adaptability. Being open to change does not mean losing our foundation. Instead, it means recognizing that growth requires movement, flexibility, andawillingnesstostepintotheunknown.
In Delta, we know that transformation often begins with a single moment of courage:embracingwhatwedon’tknowyetandbeingwillingtolearn.Whenour girls witness us leaning into new ideas and fresh approaches, they understand thatchangeisnotsomethingtofear;itissomethingtoexplore.
