Biography of Dr. Morris Brown
Dr. Morris Brown was born into a large family as the fourth of eight siblings in Anniston, Alabama 1948. With a mother who worked her way up to a nurse’s aide from sharecropping and domestic labor and a father who was both a laborer and a Baptist preacher, Dr. Brown’s upbringing was steeped in resilience and determination. His early life was shadowed by the harsh realities of segregation and racial injustice, marked by significant events like the Emmitt Till murder and the violent 1964 attack on Freedom Riders in Anniston.
