The Select Team Tournament was held at ISL on Wednesday as part of the Lusaka Centrals Schools League (LCSL). This unique initiative allows U19 coaches and team captains to nominate the most outstanding players from opposing teams, resulting in a select side composed of players from ISL, LICS, the Italian School, and Rhodes Park. We are incredibly proud of Kaunda Emmanuel Chikota, Hussein Jaafar, and Ray Javaheri for earning spots on the U19 Boys' Select Team, as well as Rudo Banda, Hadassah Shamambo, and Kiriaki Kypreos for making the U19 Girls' Select Team. In the tournament, the Boys' Select Team finished in 3rd place, while the Girls' Select Team achieved an impressive 2nd place finish. As it was their first time playing together, the teams took a couple of sets to build chemistry. Despite this, both teams delivered outstanding performances, showcasing why they were chosen as the best players across the four schools. The LCSL will continue this innovative concept for all U19 sports throughout the year, further fostering talent and collaboration among the schools Please find the Select Team photos below. A special thank you to Scimitar, ISL’s sports kit supplier, for capturing these professional photographs.

The Secondary Inter-House Swim Gala showcased incredible performances and house pride. Students competed fiercely, making it an unforgettable event.

Malene began her equestrian journey at the age of six and transitioned to polocrosse at 11, joining the junior division in 2020. Starting out with borrowed horses, she has since acquired two of her own, a testament to her dedication to the sport. In Zambia, the polocrosse season runs from March to September, featuring weekly practices and both local and international tournaments. The sport enjoys global recognition, being played in countries such as the UK, USA, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. Malene actively participates in local games and has represented Zambia on the international stage. She competed in the Junior Classic U19 Tournament in South Africa and was a member of Zambia’s U14 team in 2022. Her talent and commitment were recently acknowledged when she received the Most Valuable Junior Player Award for the 2024 season, presented by the Zambia Polocrosse Association.
This weekend, Darcy Franklin traveled with the Apex U11 football team to compete in the Gulf Winter Cup Tournament in Dubai. The team faced tough competition, narrowly missing out on the Plate Final after a hard-fought match against an older and larger opponent. Darcy played in every game over both days, proving to be an integral part of the squad with his impactful performances and precise passes from the right midfield. The Apex team returns with their heads held high, ready to learn from the experience and come back even stronger in 2025. Well done, Darcy and the team!
