Drawing on the course readings, particularly the works of Williams (2013) on workplace diversity and resilience, and Johnson (2018) on addressing racial and gender biases, the organization actively works to confront specific challenges faced by employees with diverse identities. In this paper, I will identify two major challenges addressed by the organization, discuss how these are managed, and present two targeted recommendations to enhance its diversity and inclusion initiatives. Challenges Faced by Employees and Organizational Response The first challenge pertains to racial bias and discrimination in the workplace, which affects minority employees' career growth and sense of belonging. Williams (2013) emphasizes that racial bias often manifests subtly through microaggressions and unconscious biases, which can create a hostile work environment for marginalized groups. The organization combats this challenge by implementing comprehensive diversity and inclusion (D&I) training programs aimed at raising awareness about implicit biases. These programs include workshops, interactive sessions, and mandatory training modules that educate employees about microaggressions, privilege, and structural inequalities (Williams, 2013). Moreover, the company has established employee resource groups (ERGs) that provide a platform for minority employees to share their experiences, mentor one another, and advocate for policy changes.
