This Weeks Discussion Will Focus On Leaders And Leadership1 List An This week's discussion will focus on leaders and leadership. 1. List and define the key leadership styles. 2. Paper For Above instruction Leadership is a vital component of organizational success and can be understood through various styles that influence how leaders motivate, direct, and interact with their followers. Key leadership styles include autocratic, democratic, transformational, transactional, and laissez-faire, each characterized by distinct behaviors and approaches to decision-making and employee engagement. The autocratic leadership style is characterized by individual control over decisions, with little input from group members. Leaders who adopt this style make decisions independently and expect subordinates to follow orders without input. This style can be effective in situations requiring quick decisions or when tasks are straightforward, but it may suppress creativity and demotivate employees over time (Northouse, 2018). In contrast, democratic leadership involves collaboration, encouraging participation from team members in decision-making processes. Democratic leaders foster an inclusive environment that values diverse perspectives, which can enhance team satisfaction and innovation (Lewin, Lippitt, & White, 1939). Transformational leadership is characterized by inspiring followers to exceed expectations through vision, enthusiasm, and a focus on personal growth. Transformational leaders motivate their teams by creating a shared vision and encouraging development, which results in increased commitment and performance (Bass & Avolio, 1994). Transactional leadership, on the other hand, centers around structured tasks and reward or punishment based on performance; it emphasizes clarity and task completion rather than inspiring change (Burns, 1978). Lastly, laissez-faire leadership refers to a hands-off style where leaders provide minimal guidance, allowing followers to operate independently. While this can promote autonomy, it may also lead to a lack of direction if not managed properly (Lewin, 1939). Personally, I work best with transformational leaders who inspire and challenge me to develop professionally while providing a clear vision for success. Such leaders foster an environment of trust, motivation, and innovation, which aligns with my preferences for growth and meaningful engagement. I
