This project will be a cumulative demonstration of the running themes This project will be a cumulative demonstration of the running themes throughout this course. Several options will be offered for the presentation of this material. One option is a comparative study of heroes, where students choose four stories about heroes from four different cultures, providing an analysis of each. For each story, students should present a brief overview and outline the character traits of the archetypes used. They should analyze why the story was told, compare and contrast the heroes by examining shared qualities, archetypal figures encountered, and whether the hero fits the classic archetype, giving detailed reasons. Additionally, students should identify what the stories have in common, how they differ, and whether certain items, characters, or actions are present across all stories with supporting explanations. Another option is a comparative study of creation myths, where students select four creation stories from different cultures and analyze each by providing a brief overview and outlining the creation process. They should compare and contrast these stories thoroughly. The third option involves a Hero's Journey movie analysis. Students must select a film that exemplifies the Hero's Journey model, with at least seven stages aligned with Campbell's monomyth. An in-depth analysis should explain each step, how it fits the model, and justify the movie's assignment. Movie choices like Star Wars , The Matrix , The Wizard of Oz , Harry Potter , and The Lion King are not permitted unless approved by the instructor. Alternative options include novels, with the same requirements applied.
