This Case Takes A Horizontal Slice Through A Number Of Coexistent Is This Case Takes A Horizontal Slice Through A Number Of Coexistent Is This case takes a “horizontal” slice through a number of coexistent issues. The challenge lies in understanding where to start analyzing—an approach that requires investigative work similar to detective efforts. The case involves identifying key actors and their relationships, which can be best achieved through brainstorming the existing issues and challenges. A useful framework is to separate issues into two groups: the "IT" perspective and the "business" perspective. Categorizing issues in this manner helps clarify how different organizational groups perceive the same problems, enabling targeted solutions since the problem set directly informs the solution set. From the IT perspective, understanding why the Customer Contacts system holds inaccurate information necessitates identifying and analyzing the flow of data among the core systems at Minitrex. The four key systems are: The Customer Contacts System The Management Business Center System The Credit Administration System The General Management System Figure 1 illustrates the flow of information among these systems during day-to-day business operations. To grasp how information is shared and utilized, it is essential to track typical transactions—such as processing a new insurance sale and a customer order for online financing. Observing these workflows reveals where and how critical data originate, circulate, and are acted upon within the organization. During a typical day, when a new insurance sale occurs, the Customer Contacts System records customer interactions and updates customer status. This information propagates to the Management Business Center System for overall operational oversight, and potentially triggers updates in the Credit Administration System when financial information or credit checks are needed. The General Management System aggregates data for leadership decision-making. Similar workflows are involved in processing online Financing customer orders, where information flows are initiated by customer inputs and managed through interconnected systems to ensure data consistency and service delivery.
