This assignment will ask you to provide a comprehensive overview of the community that you have chosen This assignment will ask you to provide a comprehensive overview of the community that you have chosen (attached are the communities you have selected for your final paper). You will need to develop a clear understanding of the community’s people, history, values, problems, and concerns to identify your role within their lives. This understanding is essential for the final project, which involves writing a grant proposal and preparing an accompanying presentation. Your initial task is to construct a detailed profile of the community you intend to serve with your project. Use a variety of sources—including scholarly articles, local newspapers, interviews, town meeting notes, surveys, and questionnaires—to gather data and develop a “big picture” view of the community. Conduct field research such as interviews and surveys if they help deepen your understanding of community dynamics. Your research should explore the following topics: History: When was the community established? What were the reasons for its founding? What has been the main economic base, and how has it evolved? What is the history of minority groups within the community? People: Who are the key figures such as elected officials, religious leaders, and community advocates? Which organizations (community groups, churches, nonprofits, government agencies) collaborate with these leaders? Groups: What are the different social, racial, ethnic, and geographic groups within the community? Which organizations serve these groups? How do different groups interact—do they work collaboratively or at odds? Are there groups engaged in similar work as your proposed project? What issues are seen as problems by the community leaders, government officials, and smaller groups? Compile your research into a comprehensive report that includes: An introduction outlining your proposed action. An assessment of the community’s needs based on your research.
