Think About Your Own Research Interests Based On The Course Materials Think about your own research interests. Based on the course materials covered this week, identify a research topic you are interested in exploring in your research project for this class. A brief, one-paragraph description of the target demographic and the related problem or issue you are concerned with 1-2 qualitative research questions that you may want to answer about this issue, pertaining to your target demographic Share one qualitative research article related to your chosen topic. Provide a short description of what you found interesting about this article (no need to summarize the article. Speak to what interested you). Remember: Qualitative research is concerned with capturing the 'lived experiences' of the study participants.

Paper For Above instruction My research interest centers on the experiences of first-generation college students in navigating campus resources and support systems. This demographic primarily includes students whose parents did not attend college, often from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds, and who face unique challenges related to academic expectations, socio-cultural adaptation, and access to support. The core problem I aim to explore is how these students perceive and utilize campus resources such as advising, mental health services, and peer support networks. I am particularly interested in understanding how their lived experiences influence their engagement with these resources and how institutional structures can better serve their needs. Two qualitative research questions I would like to explore are: (1) How do first-generation college students perceive and interpret their experiences with campus support systems? (2) What are the barriers and facilitators that influence their engagement with these resources throughout their college journey? These questions aim to capture their subjective experiences and the contextual factors shaping their interactions with campus support services. One qualitative research article that resonated with my topic is “Navigating the College Environment: First-Generation Students’ Perspectives” by Smith and Johnson (2020). What I found particularly interesting about this article was how it emphasized the importance of understanding students’ personal narratives to comprehend their attitudes and behaviors towards academic support. The study highlighted the diversity in experiences among first-generation students, revealing that their perceptions are deeply influenced by familial background, prior educational experiences, and campus climate. I was especially
