There Are Times When The Best Strategies Are Simply Unplanned And Happ There are times when the best strategies are simply unplanned and happen. When these “emergent” strategies are born (often out of conflict) it is important to be flexible in order to be successful. It is also important to be sure to determine factors to success. This week we will discuss how these items affect overall strategy. Have you observed a case of successful emergent strategy in any field? Briefly describe the events. Why was the strategy successful?

Paper For Above instruction Emergent strategies are those unplanned, adaptive responses that organizations or individuals develop in real-time, often resulting from unpredictable circumstances or conflicts. Unlike deliberate strategies, which are carefully formulated beforehand, emergent strategies develop organically as a response to changing environments, challenges, or opportunities. An illustrative example can be observed within the technology sector, particularly during Apple's development of the iPhone in the mid-2000s. In the early stages of smartphone development, several companies, including Nokia, BlackBerry, and Palm, had established dominant market positions with their traditional mobile phones. Apple, however, faced significant competition but adopted an unplanned, emergent strategic approach when Steve Jobs and his team focused on creating a device that combined the functionalities of an iPod, a phone, and an internet communicator. Originally, Apple’s strategy did not specifically specify the development of a revolutionary touchscreen device; rather, the company responded to emerging consumer needs and competitive pressures in real time. The success of Apple's emergent strategy can largely be attributed to its flexibility and responsiveness. As the development process evolved, Apple constantly adapted its technology and design based on feedback, technological advancements, and market trends. For example, when touchscreen technology improved, Apple rapidly incorporated it into the design, prioritizing user experience. This flexibility allowed Apple to outpace competitors who were committed to their original plans, which often lacked adaptability. This strategy was successful primarily because of Apple’s ability to identify and seize opportunities spontaneously, adjusting its course based on shifting technological landscapes and consumer preferences. The emergent nature of the strategy created a product that was not only innovative but also highly aligned with current market demands, leading to the iPhone's unprecedented success upon its release in 2007.
