Paper For Above instruction Introduction As a nursing manager, selecting an appropriate nursing care delivery model is crucial for ensuring high-quality patient care, optimizing staff efficiency, and fostering a collaborative work environment. One of the most effective models I would consider implementing in my unit is the **Primary Nursing** model. This model emphasizes accountability, continuity of care, and personalized patient attention. It places a registered nurse (RN) as the primary caregiver responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient’s care during their stay. The following discussion explores the advantages and disadvantages of the Primary Nursing model, supported by scholarly sources including "Professional Nursing Practice Concepts and Perspectives" (7th edition). Advantages of Primary Nursing The Primary Nursing model offers several significant benefits. First, it promotes personalized, patient-centered care, which enhances patient satisfaction and outcomes (Gelan & Roe, 2018). As the primary nurse develops a comprehensive understanding of each patient’s needs, care becomes more tailored and consistent. Second, it enhances accountability among nurses. Since one nurse is responsible for the patient's care, there is increased ownership and responsibility for the quality of care provided (Baker et al., 2017). Third, this model fosters strong therapeutic relationships between nurses and patients, leading to improved communication, trust, and emotional support, which are vital for recovery and well-being.
