Final Project the Final Project should demonstrate an understanding of the reading assignments, class discussions, your own research, and the application of new knowledge. It should utilize previous skills developed in foundational health care courses and apply them within the context and viewpoint of a health care administrator and their role in managing health and human services. For the Final Project, select one of the following topics and conduct scholarly and professional research while integrating the course’s learning outcomes to address a selected topic: Research specific leadership and management traits and theories necessary for managing a multidisciplinary and multicultural health care organization to promote organizational effectiveness.

Present how strategic planning, performance improvement, and information systems are interrelated and fundamental to the delivery of quality health care. Examine the financial characteristics of health care delivery along with managing costs, revenues, and human resources. Analyze ethical and legal concepts, including specific federal regulations, required of health care organizations to ensure the delivery of high quality health care that protects patient safety.

Academic research and papers must meet certain standards of quality that are recognized by the academic community. What constitutes quality academic research? The use of primary (original), credible sources written by experts in the field of study. Ensuring secondary sources are supported by research in primary sources. Making sure all research is relevant and that material used is pertinent to the area of study. In graduate work, the use of peer-reviewed journal articles (journal articles reviewed by recognized experts in the relevant field of study) is required. Keep in mind that educational websites may be appropriate, in some cases, but should be evaluated carefully.

The Ashford University Library offers many excellent databases and other resources to assist you in conducting scholarly research. What sources are not acceptable for academic research and referencing? Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Wikipedia, other wikis, or blogs. Websites and other sources that do not provide quality researched materials (e.g., they do not use credible sources to support the information in the document). All research must reflect professional academic protocol and must be documented according to APA standards as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

Creating the Final Project You may choose to present your research as an eight- to ten-page research paper (excluding title and reference pages) or a comprehensive 10- to 15-slide PowerPoint presentation

(excluding title and reference slides) with detailed speaker notes. In either case, the content of the assignment must include each of the elements listed below:

: Describe the issue. Include why it was selected, the perspective of your approach to the issue, and the scope of the paper or presentation. This section should engage the reader and set the scope of the research clearly and concisely.

Statement of the Issue to be Investigated

: Explain why the topic is relevant and important. Support your discussion with literature sources that demonstrate the scope and implications of the problem. For example, discuss the prevalence of the issue, its impact on health outcomes, and potential long-term consequences if unaddressed.

Research Sources

: Document relevant research related to the topic. Paraphrase and synthesize current studies, describing the research design, sample populations, findings, and key points. Highlight any instructional, legal, ethical, or social aspects linked to the issue. Support your discussion with appropriate citations and provide analysis of the research articles, explaining what was done, who conducted the studies, the findings, and their implications for your topic.

Conclusion

: Summarize why you chose the topic, restate the problem briefly, describe the approach taken, and highlight key findings and potential solutions. This section should give the reader or audience a comprehensive understanding of the research process, results, and their significance.

References

: List all sources consulted in APA format. A minimum of six to eight scholarly sources are required. Ensure all references are credible, peer-reviewed, and pertinent to the topic.

organizational strategies in the effective management of a multicultural healthcare organization. The importance of leadership in health care cannot be overstated, as it influences patient outcomes, staff motivation, regulatory compliance, and organizational sustainability. This project explores how specific management theories, strategic planning, performance improvement, and information systems collectively enhance the delivery of quality health care, especially within diverse and multidisciplinary settings.

The relevance of this topic stems from the increasing diversity in patient populations and health care providers, necessitating culturally competent leadership and management practices. Literature indicates that transformational and servant leadership styles foster better team collaboration and patient-centered care in multicultural environments (Northouse, 2021). Financial management within health care organizations involves balancing costs, revenues, and resource allocation. The landscape is characterized by high costs driven by personnel, technology, and infrastructure, while reimbursement models are shifting toward value-based care (Porter, 2019). Effective financial management requires leveraging data analytics to identify efficiency opportunities and ensuring sustainable funding. Human resource management is equally critical; attracting, training, and retaining skilled staff, especially in multicultural settings, enhances overall organizational effectiveness (Haddad & Wassim, 2019).

Legal and ethical considerations are integral to health care management. Federal regulations such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) ensure patient privacy, while laws like the Affordable Care Act (ACA) expand access to care (Leventhal et al., 2018). Ethical principles including

autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice guide decision-making processes, particularly when managing diverse populations with varied cultural backgrounds and health beliefs (Beauchamp & Childress, 2019). Addressing disparities and promoting equitable care are vital components of legal and ethical compliance.

In conclusion, effective management of multicultural health care organizations hinges on leadership traits, management theories, strategic planning, and proficient use of information systems. Addressing financial challenges and legal-ethical considerations ensures high-quality, safe, and equitable care delivery. Through scholarly research, this project underscores the necessity of adaptive leadership and integrated organizational strategies to meet the complexities of modern health care environments, ultimately contributing to improved health outcomes and organizational sustainability.
