Based on the content of the course (Readings, Presentations, DB Forum 1, and Assignments) choose 1 of the following worldviews (Secular Humanism, Buddhism, Hinduism, or Islam) and answer the following questions (250–300 words). These questions are to be answered in separate paragraphs. What practical steps could be taken to build a relationship with a follower of this worldview who might be a co-worker, neighbor, etc.? What barriers/hindrances would exist with presenting the Christian gospel to a person from this worldview? What personal challenges might you have with presenting the gospel?

Paper For Above instruction

The selection of Buddhism as the worldview to analyze offers a rich context for understanding how to build meaningful relationships and effectively share the Christian gospel. Buddhism, with its focus on mindfulness, compassion, and spiritual seeking, provides both opportunities and challenges for evangelism. Building a relationship with a Buddhist individual begins with demonstrating genuine respect for their spiritual journey. Practical steps include engaging in conversations about common values such as compassion and moral conduct, participating in community service projects together, and showing genuine interest without immediate expectation of conversion. Such respectful engagement fosters trust and mutual understanding, creating a safe environment for deeper spiritual discussions in the future. Recognizing the importance of patience and listening helps in establishing a strong relational foundation that can facilitate future gospel sharing.

Barriers to presenting the Christian message within a Buddhist worldview often stem from fundamental differences in spiritual beliefs. Buddhists typically view salvation as a personal journey toward enlightenment through meditation, ethical living, and wisdom, rather than through faith in a personal deity. The concept of Jesus Christ as divine and as the Savior may conflict with Buddhist principles of self-effort and the non-theistic nature of their practice. Additionally, Buddhists often see Christianity's emphasis on an ancestor or divine figure as incompatible with their understanding of karma and reincarnation. These differences can lead to misinterpretations or dismissiveness, making evangelism challenging. Moreover, Buddhists may perceive Christian proselytizing as intrusive or disrespectful, which can hinder open dialogue and acceptance.

Personal challenges in presenting the gospel to Buddhists include overcoming cultural sensitivities and my own biases or misconceptions. Ensuring that my approach is rooted in respect rather than confrontation

requires humility and cultural awareness. There can also be internal conflict regarding the core differences in spiritual worldview—acknowledging that conversion is not solely about changing beliefs but also about respecting individual spiritual paths. Patience, empathy, and a genuine love rooted in Christ are essential to navigate these challenges effectively. Developing cultural competence and maintaining humility are crucial for meaningful cross-cultural evangelism.
