Dear Friends,
We are excited to offer females once again in our 6th Annual Online Maternal Monday sale! This offering consists of both fall-calving Red Angus cows and South Poll crossbred heifers.
The South Poll is a composite breed of cattle that was developed by Teddy Gentry at Bent Tree Farms in Alabama. The breeds that were used to develop the foundation animals for the breed were Red Angus, Polled Hereford, Senepol, and Barzona. Teddy’s goal was to develop a heat tolerant breed that would be adaptable to the heat and humidity of the southeastern states.
Our cattle breeding program is focused on the female. For generations we have selected to improve Fertility, Stayability, Udder Quality, and Feet and Leg Soundness. Also, Disposition has always been of major importance. While economically relevant cowherd traits have driven the Red Hill Selection Program, we have always attempted to pull along as much growth and carcass superiority as possible.
For those unfamiliar with an online sale, bidding changes to ‘racehorse-style’ at 8PM EDT/7PM CDT on Monday, May 19. Bidding will continue if there is activity within the allotted time frame (typically 3 to 5 minutes.) The sale ends when the bidding activity ends. Videos of the females selling can be found on the DP Online Sales webpage. Please call us – Bart (615-633-6941) or Sarah (615-655-4932) if you have trouble with online bidding in this sale.
We are most thankful to all previous customers and to those who have shown interest in the Red Hill program. Contact us with any questions about the cows or heifers!
