Biography of Dr. Edward R. McInnis

Dr. Edward R. McInnis, Lt. (N), MD, CCFP, is a well-rounded medical professional with a dual specialization in family and emergency medicine. His professional journey encompasses 16 years as a family physician and 10 years in emergency and trauma medicine. Beyond his medical duties, he is also a committed family man, a dedicated athlete, a lieutenant (N) in the Canadian Armed Forces, a Navy reservist, and an avid volunteer.

The Early Years Born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, Dr. McInnis is the eldest of four siblings and has always had a keen interest in sports. His early years were filled with playing hockey, baseball, tennis, and golf, and he reached competitive levels in hockey and baseball. Notably, he played Junior-a hockey and even caught the attention of the Boston Red Sox as a potential pitcher. As he matured, his athletic pursuits expanded to include weightlifting. From a young age, he exhibited a robust work ethic, starting with a paper route at the tender age of ten and his first full-time employment at McDonald’s when he was just 13.
